Okay. Gems only give secondary stats (not primary stats). So, I just have to wonder if having Blacksmithing is even worth it going into WoD?I think we all really need the designers to fully explain ALL of the profession changes they are planning and what those profession bonuses are going to be. Because this just sounds like a kick in the @$$ to those of us that planned out our profession choices based on the boast to primary stats.I'm definitely liking most of the changes they are making. However, the changes to professions being up in the air and not clearly defined is very concerning. Second, I really like having the option to reforge out of a secondary stat that I do not want - and I think having that reforge option taken away is a REALLY bad move. Especially considering the way Mastery works for Classes and the Spec choices within a class. Mastery can be a HUGE and highly sought after secondary stat or it can be so bad that you wonder why your spec even has mastery as an option. If we get gear that has a ton of Mastery and don't have the ability to get rid of it, if it does jacksh** for us, then we are forced to use a stat that has little benefit for us.Not having the option to tailor and customize our secondary stats by removing the ability to Reforge is taking away a HUGE option for us. It's definitely going to limit our choices - and players should have more choices, NOT less.
Would it not make more sense to just add, Amplify, Multistrike, and Readiness to reforging only? This would allow for a greater range of stats for less work. Would allow for even greater verity of toons for raiding or for soloing, questing ect ect.... A priest for example might want haste as a secondary to get their heals off faster or instead they could reforge into Multistrike, so they can raid heal the 30% more in tougher situations again depending on the raid makeup and or mechanics. All this would not make it easier for the player to mindlessly get gear and leave it at that. it would make the player actually think about how they play their toons and what would work best for them. And yes the theory crafters would still work the numbers but it is still up to the individuals to do some work for theirself.I just not like to think that all that Blizzard is planning is to make it so we are all have genaric armor to limited enchants, limited gems. Also Blizzard think about the loss of a gold sink that is in the reforging of armor. If Players are not spending their gold on the gems, enchants and reforging whats to spend the gold on? Nothing.Just My thoughts. Whats yours?
*Fewer items can be enchanted, and the goal is to have enchants feel like a bonus instead of something mandatory.*Meta gems and socket bonuses are removed. Many fewer items will have sockets in Warlords of Draenor.Sheesh why don't they just delete professions all together? At this rate everyone might as well go engineer since it will be the only profession worth a damn into this new expansion. That is unless they decide players feel engineer toys are necessary and decide to nerf those too.
These are the changes that are going to bring WoW back into the modern era. Let's get 'em back to 10 million+ subs!
Oh boy, I just realized, if this goes live, we'll all be stuck with weapons itemized for the designers favorite class.
The fun part of WOW is killing stuff (with or without your friends).
Nice change for people who play class with multiple role like me.No more storing different gear for tanking or healing with my druid.Though I still like the socket (and socket bonus) though. I don't use best gems but the uncommon gems are enough for me since I don't compete or play in hardcore raiding guild.I think WoW becomes more and more streamlined. No more min-maxing the gear.
Ok, let's go over the positives in my eyes. Once again, IN MY EYES. this is my personal list and You can decide if you agree with them or not.Being a big lore nerd, I am personally VERY excited about all the historical figures being implemented in WoD, Durotan, Gul'dan, Grom, These are HUGE names in Warcraft history, and I'm really looking forward to their further development. Garrisons are AWESOME, Even Free to play MMOs like Runes of Magic have player housing, and I've always been curious as to why Blizzard never implemented such a fun feature, it really feels good to have your own little slice of the game.As you can see, this is a pretty short list, now let's go over what I personally view as the negative CURRENT (subject to change) alterations...I have played since Vanilla, and I loved Vanilla... because it was new AT THE TIME. looking back on it, I have not liked Vanilla as much as the more recent expansions. With WoD, they seem to be taking out EVERYTHING I loved about the newer expansions. I personally LOVED Armor Pen, But I agree it was pretty unbalanced once you broke the 90% milestone, so I dealt with the change, Resilience was over powered as well, just reducing damage taken by players, whereas now it is fixed with the PvP power and PvP damage reduction stats, This was a GOOD change. We need to KEEP reforging, however. as a frost DK, Crit is pretty near ueless for me, with haste and mastery being MUCH stronger stats based on Killing Machine procs. Why, then, should I not have the option to change some of my crit into something I can actually use? This change, I do not like.I love the current BiS gear system, one piece of gear is the best you can get for one specific class, However, and as much as I love Diablo 3, it's loot system, which is apparently what they're doing here, is overly flawed. For example, The 2h Crossbow "The Manticore" is best in slot for Demon Hunters.... Kind of. You can get one of these to drop, only to find out that the stats it rolled for you SUCK. Now I know, the STATS in the WoD system are reasonably static, but the option to have anywhere from one to three tertiary stats, as well as the slight possibility of having higher overall stats on one piece of gear, puts us in exactly this same predicament. my Frost DK could get an AMAZING 1h sword, just to see someone in the same dungeon or raid with the SAME sword, but higher Item level, stats, and with an added, let's say, cleave effect. Just using a sword as an example here people. Now, How much would seeing that big of a difference in an item you worked hard for, an Item you were SO excited to FINALLY receive after weeks of grinding demoralize you? Just to realize you now have to go kill that same boss who knows how many more times? This change, I REALLY, do not like.Let's take the aforementioned frost DK. I like to go blood alot, And I also have a prot warrior. And literally since Cata they have dumb downed tanks a RIDICULOUS amount. Remember when you had to stack defense? I do. Remember when you had an actual block stat that you yourself could modify? I do. Now we move to: remember when you actually had avoidance stats, instead of every tank just trying to stack stamina and GG? I hate this change, I understand the Hit/Expertise removal, I really do. Those stats just suck, I mean, having to max those before you worry about ANYTHING else, just to have an unreal, rather stupid amount of them at top tier? I understand taking those out. But seriously? I mean, With this implementation, I see NOTHING but DK tanks due to their mastery absorb shield. Warriors Shield Block is nice, but you still take damage, same with pally and druid tank mastery. DK Blood mastery is going to become overly broken, and I see all other tank classes be out of luck here. Blizzard, I've suffered through removing Armor Pen, I've suffered through the ridiculous talent overhaul to dumb things down, but these changes MAY kill this game for me. Which sucks. I met my Girlfriend over WoW, she now lives with me. I LOVE this game, I love all of the friends, and I love the character CUSTOMIZATION, which you have killed little by little over the years, Some of these ideas are not good. Most of these ideas, are NOT good.I understand what you're doing, and I understand why. But look at the big picture. You trying to bring back all of your Vanilla subscribers is a fair goal. BUT. Most of these players have moved on to either real life, other games, or both. Trying to bring them back WILL chase away newer players, as well as Vanilla players like me who have greatly enjoyed the new additions. (relatively speaking). And the new loot system is sheer ludicrous. Most of us hate RNG enough as it is, now you're going to make us have to go through it EVERY TIME the item WE ALREADY HAVE drops, just with the small percentage of getting the "perfect loot"? I hate this idea, I'm all for turning back to the ACTUAL LORE, as much as I liked MoP, And I'm all for player/guild housing. But please Blizzard, DO NOT Turn this loot system into Diablo 3.Finally, on to the professions. My Priest is an Enchanter/Jewelcrafter. I spent about 10k minimum power leveling both, not to mention the endless laps on my Warrior around Silithus, Hellfire, Shadowmoon, Sholazar, and Twilight Highlands for ore. How screwed is my priest? What are you going to do to make up for my MASSIVE loss of profit here? Whats next? Tailoring? Engineering? This is stupid. Also, Getting rid of socket bonuses and POSSIBLY FORCING one color gem into its corresponding socket? I hardly use the socket bonuses anyway, being as their just not worth it by putting say, a red gem into a yellow socket. But getting rid of both options is stupid. Closing statement: Once again, these are my PERSONAL opinions, not meant to express anyone elses point of view, although after reading some of these comments, I can see quite a few people agree. But seriously, if this game keeps getting dumbed down, i ask you, Whats next? ONE specific set of talents per spec? The removal of Glyphs for all but cosmetic purposes? I mean, why not? You've already killed inscription, ONE OF THE NEWEST PROFESSIONS. One set of stats applying to EVERY class/spec? much like Diablo 3s "Trifecta" Of attack speed, crit hit chance, and crit hit damage? You're already adding lifesteal and Increased movement speed, so it's not totally out of the realm of possibility. I'm just saying, By trying to lure back a playerbase who likely has NO interest in returning, you're going to chase off many of your current players. I'm not saying I won't give WoD a fair chance, I WILL, unlike many people, reserve my final judgement for when I actually play it, But that might be the last $40 you ever get out of me, guys, From WoW, at least.
I like the changes for the most part except for the loss of reforging. It just seems they are taking it out so players have to grind for that "perfectly" itemized piece. It'd be nice to reforge some of an not useful stat for something that is until the good stat version drops. Especially since secondary stats will not change between spec switches. If mastery is not as optimal for your dps spec as it would be for tanking, you still need two pieces of gear. Instead of like now just spending gold and 2 mins making that mastery into some of a more useful stat for dps. Blizzard way think reforging isn't needed anymore, but there will still be times with this new system when it would've been more convenient to reforge.
Well they removed expertise and hit. What's the big deal with removing reforging? Does'nt feel like it need to be there anymore tbh. If u don't want to spend your time on grinding for gear then don't do it. WoW have to many spoiled kids who want what they want NOW and don't want to put some effort into getting it.WotLK, Cata and Pandaria is childsplay compared to Vanilla. Gearing up a character takes 2 or 3 days. That's alot faster then what it takes to learn how to play it.I can't wait for WoD to be released and I feel that it will be Epic.PS. The stat Squish is very welcome to :)
Relearn? They're simplifying the game so it takes little effort to "relearn".
In a perfect world...The item squish would only start at Cataclysm because that is where tanks went from 40k health at 80 to 200k health at 85. That is the expansion that broke triple digits and where the biggest jump happened. I would leave Vanilla -Wrath completely untouched for nostalgia and history sake. This would also be less work for the programmers. If the popular stance (not my opinion) is that endgame is the only thing that matters. Then start reducing stats at Cata so that 80-90 would be would be slight smoother curve with an exception for Cata Tier and PvP gear (should be WAY better than MoP greens at 85-87). Alot of people still enjoy the midgame and it's quirky differences in armor. The armor differences are actually liked at these levels. Anyone in BoA that has no interest in midgame levels thru this in 4-5 days.Don't erase what the game was... by "squishing" everything so close together that armor & weapons before level 86 don't matter. Fixing what is conceived as "mistakes" in expansions skipped over by end-game players, will only drive off the people that still enjoy Vanilla-Wrath. BoA + leveling bonuses get people past those levels fast enough anyway.Don't destroy the game's past.Which one of these items would you take the time to do the quest for? Shadowmourne orShadowmourneWhat would excite you more to find at a decent price on the Auction House?Deathspite Breastplateor Deathspite BreastplatePre Squish and post Squish BoA shown for comparison:Bloodied Arcanite Reaper ( 68 strength/103 stamina @ level 80)Bloodied Arcanite Reaper ( 26 strength / 40 stamina @ level 80)Polished Breastplate of ValorPolished Breastplate of ValorKeep in mind that BoA was supposed to be an average Blue/Rare item and not close to Epic / Legendary. BoA wan't even meant be the best rare item but an average of what was found at that level.I'd rather see the Legendary outdo BoA by alot more than this if you have to quest and work for them. +20 Epic Wrath gems would become +10, Shadowmourne has only + 3 strength bonus & less stamina compared to BoA post squish (w t f)Kinda makes them pointless .
Sometimes I get the feeling that development teams change stuff just for job security. "Look we made this many improvements this year, see we worked" Nothing needed changing but maybe a small stats reduction, not the overkill stats nerf by 96% and definitely not every single classes abilities. I quit because of the constant feeling of getting screwed by development. I keep hoping that reading the forums would give me a reason to come back but it seems like 6.0 keeps revealing worse and worse "clone game " characteristics. Less and less customization. Pretty soon gear will mean nothing. Professions will mean nothing. it will be a game of collecting pets and transmog items.
As a hobbyist Diablo player, I don't mind grinding for gear. It sounds like with the new system, I can expect more drops, which is very similar to Diablo. If a semi-useful piece drops, I'll put it on and hope another one drops next time. In the end, multiple drops of increasing quality each time I raid will feel better and more rewarding than a single drop I'd potentially have to raid for weeks to get. With the drop competition side of things, I believe universal gear will distribute better than specific pieces. You can raid for weeks and thanks to RNG, only have useless pieces which NO ONE can use. Whereas with this new system, it seems likely to expect a useful univseral piece to drop often and SOMEONE would benefit from it.Personally I like the idea. Satisfy min-maxers with gear grinding (Hardcore: Oh this piece is warforged with tertiary stats, I'll wear it for now and hope for a socket as well next time!) and satisfy casuals. (Casual: Well I finally had time to fit in a raid tonight, I love all this new gear!)People will find anything to complain or praise (mostly complain) so I suppose our best bet is to wait and see who is right in this case.
