Dear second best video games developers in the world, please take your time and do whatever you got to do to make this next adventure as epic as it deserves to be.
The best thing for the old owners of Blizzard is being bought by EA. The worst thing for us is Blizzard being bought by EA. No matter what Blizzard puts out now, they will sorely disappoint EA. WoW, in my opinion, is a one time thing. It caught lighning in a bottle, and dominated the industry of MMOs. Down to 8.3 million subscribers? That puts it in, what....still king of the hill as the largest MMO? Titan will be lucky to have 5 million subscribers at it's peak. More likely in the 2-3 million range. Online games have evolved and there are many choices out there, so I would doubt Titan will reach WoW like numbers, unless it is absolutely an amazing game. So, once Titan launches, EA will be very disappointed in Blizzard, and mass firing and layoffs will occur. EA will once again destroy a company which they aquire. This is just my opinion, but historical trends have been set.
No till I see even an alpha testing or stills of Titan I'm calling Shenanigans on them. Blizzard has lied to many times in the past for me to believe them.Them lying, and you building on fan-based hype and believing it to be true are not one and the same.Diablo 3, for what it is (and the huge time gap from D2: LoD to D3 was not all dev time), is a great game, that continues to improve over time... JUST LIKE DIABLO 2 DID. How many people can say that D2 was the nostalgia-magnet that it is based on the content BEFORE the expansion? How many even remember playing it pre-LoD? I do, and frankly, wasn't so great. LoD made it way better, as did the usual continuous iterative process Blizzard is known for.Frankly, if they make a game that pushes hardware most people can barely afford, they risk alienating a larger group of gamers, due to them being under a budget. Sorry to say, but that has NEVER been Blizzard's approach... why design for system specs 98% of the playerbase can't hope to see, when the resources can be spent better elsewhere? I'm sorry, but pipe-dream much? The fact they are making technological changes, means that they may have access to a new engine and other features that would prove to be far more useful than to use older tech they started work on. That is good. Would you all have been happy if it looked like a game from 2009, coming out in 2014 or 2015? No, it would cause an absolute storm of unrealistic and negative community outcry. But hey, you could have had that, if they stuck to their guns.Additionally, nobody said that Jay Wilson went to Titan. He could have been moved to Hearthstone, where it would be seen as doing very little damage (reminder: His reassignment was noted before Hearthstone was announced).Seriously... the supposed true gamer community needs to reality check themself. If this was 10 years ago, you wouldn't have a clue about most of this. Why? We didn't get this level of information back then. We didn't get much of anything, barring what announcemkents came out of E3 (which was also an industry-only conference, not the mass-public one it is now). I remember reading about game highlights from E3 or CES in Nintendo Power back in the late 90s. That is what we had. Magazines. Too many people think they are true, die-hard, gamers, that only surfaced in the last 5-6 years. I've been playing Blizzard titles since Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was CURRENT. And wanna know what? The closest to "let down" that I've been, was Cataclysm, due to a relative lack of "things to do", which even they admit was their fault.Relax a bit people and wait to see where it goes. You are assuming the end of the world, based on something we knew NOTHING about. So the fact that this nothing has been changed, means it is now going to be a newer, shinier, nothing for a while long. Oh no, the sky is falling... seriously. If you think it's some move to make it port to consoles too, cause of the released tech for the PS4 and XBox One... given the sheer time it is taking Diablo 3 to port just for PS3, I would sincerely hope that is NOT the case. Make MMOs single-platform, it means you tailor to a specific audience and control scheme. If you wanna do it on PC, just PC then. Wanna do console? Just console then. Even in some cases being console-specific (ie: Dragon Quest X is an MMO exclusive to the Wii/Wii U... I just hope Nintendo announces it coming to North America at E3, cause that will rock). Here, here, if I could upvote this post a million times I would. The D3 whiners are really getting tiresome, because it's a great game, and only going to get better. I'd bet each one of them a shiny dollar they'll reinstall and play the game they spend so much time trashing.Everything else you said is dead-on, too. WoW is dead? Give me a break, tell that to the 8.3 million of us who are still paying subscribers.
Titan may also be attached to a new gaming console....... that isn't out until 2016. There may be lots of factors going into this decision.
and so begins another large game industry slowly collapsing kinda a shame but cata drove away so many players a few came back when pandaria started but unfortunately it's not enough for activision/blizzard it seems
Wonder if PS4 and Xbox One has anything to do with it?I believe that this is the reason why. The timing, Its too coincidental.Has nothing to do with the next gen announcement. Blizzard (as well as pretty much all other developers) know what the next gen platform is going to be months or more before the announcements are made to the public. In fact I am 100% positive blizzard knew almost all of the details for the PS4 when they started working on the PS3 version of D3 because they wouldn't release D3 for the PS3 right before the PS4 is out.
Wow, excuse me for the lack of enthusiasm for nearly EVERY single post on this thread. with the exception of a few that actually have the credit to reply a sensible reply, the rest of you need a quick check :1. Do YOU pay for THEIR game? .... yup and most have been for nearly ten years. Id say that makes them a bit smarter than you and frankly, the fact you are ALLOWED to reply to a post is a GIFT at best.2. Did they create a game that held the attention and credit cards of millions of players for longer than, and increasingly more than, any other game in human history? ... Yup, I do believe that one speaks for itself. ( And don't give me some cockamamie crap about "if Id have known this and that i would have, etc etc etc" ... you DID, so shut up and sit there like a good boy and girl.3. Has EVERY single expansion INCREASED the player database. ...Yup, plain and simple. Don't bother responding you will embarrass yourself.4. (And here's the kicker, so hang on to your panties) removedTo the player base that has been here throughout the game and is not ashamed to say it, and do not have the criticism that says "I am looking for attention"..... Kudos. You're getting exactly what you pay for monthly. Cheers mates.
Standard blizzard procedure. They don't rush. It'll most definitely be worth the wait.Um.. Did you play Diablo 3? 'Worth the wait' is NOT a Blizzard guarantee anymore, at all. That being said I have some hope for Titan, albeit Sons of Liberty and Diablo 3 have shaken the faith. I'm hoping that they don't buy into the cliche player complains about wanting pristine character models at the expense of game play..this... .. x-x
So now I will have to create a new level 1 toon. >.> I hope we can transfer some toons or get a free copy of the game for spending a lot on WoW.
So now I will have to create a new level 1 toon. >.> I hope we can transfer some toons or get a free copy of the game for spending a lot on WoW.Since it has nothing at all to do with the World of Warcraft franchise...not bloody likely.
What they're going to do is, fix some things in d3 with an expansion and work on wow with the devs they cycled out and then with the devs working on Titan they are going to take their time and make it good, because like everyone has said before me they can not afford another mediocre game like d3 or the reputation will be ruin and lose their grip on the mmo world.
My own take on the official Bliz release concerning Titan is that they decided for whatever reason that big changes need to be made(which likely involved moving a few key people out of lead positions) and going in a new direction and that until this new direction is firmly decided upon and fleshed out they won't need nearly as many people working on the game. This is kind of similar to what happened to D3 and has happened to many other games in the past and usually its not a good sign. gw2 also did this and got delayed quite a few times. Who knows what impact this will actually have on the game and I will hold out hope that the game will turn out ok. I think a big problem Bliz deals with now is they have put the bar so high with wow and that took many years of refinement and feedback to get to where it is now(whether you like where it is now or not). Bliz had years even after wow came out to make change without facing immediate backlash from the day the game shipped. Now, with D3 and Titan they do not have that luxury. People's expectations for games now are just higher and higher. I am just hoping for an exciting new game world most of all. Something which feels like a whole new world rather than just a collection of soulless npcs standing around all the time.
You're scaring me Blizzard... Don't you dare $%^& this up and damn the entirety of the MMO genre to mediocrity.
"Blizzard on Titan"I thought this was a reference to the anime "Attack on Titan" when I saw the headline. Everyone's been talking about that new series lately XD
How can people even start judging a Titan when they've released hardly more than its name?Lets be honest, everyone is saying something about how Diablo 3 wasn't up to expectations. I thought Diablo 3 was a pretty good game - other than the issues after launch, and the poorly designed Auction House system (That only counts IF you ever used it, which I always just farmed gear the old way.)There is also Starcraft II and WoW, which are incredibly good games. All I'm saying is...Let the dang game come out before you decide whether its worth playing or not.
I can't say for sure if Titan will be better than WoW (obviously bcuz we haven't seen anything yet but the name itself :P) but if Blizz are planning to make it as a subscription game like WoW then I don't see any difference between them.I know Blizzard will do that since making an awesome MMO game like WoW is not worth to be 'free-to-play' game.
My biggest concerns about cycling devs in and out of the Titan project and the constant delays are less of a concern about Blizzard based on their recent releases and more a general concern about any game that does that based on the enormous crapfests that are Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
how does bologna about EA buying blizzard manage to wriggle its way into this thread?for those that cant bother looking this kinda info up, EA is a smaller company than Blizz. end of story. scook999 i dont know what you are smoking sir but wow that post was incoherent. All i can say is, obviously titan will need to be good to pull off a successful launch. thats common sense. It could potentially be a greater success and outstrip WoW in terms of subscribers. Lots of things can affect the market.Something that will have a large impact on what happens to titan is what the future of WoW is?It is and has been a cash cow. but how long will blizzard keep it going? how many more x packs so we have to look forward to? Will WoW x-packs get pushed off in favor of promoting the new game? will there be be incentives to switch from wow to titan?far to many questions left unanswered. heres a big one. what kinda universe is it? titan is a rather ambiguous name. I find it kinda hard to get overhyped or even hyped at all about a game we know next to nothing about. especially one that we were just informed has just gone back to the drawing board.
Standard blizzard procedure. They don't rush. It'll most definitely be worth the wait.I am resisting the urge to make a Left 4 Dead 3/Half Life 3 joke.
I believe that Titan is delayed due to the economic crisis.Because if ,for example,it needs relatively good hardware many people that have outdated hardware won't be able to buy it due to low budget.
