1) This is PvP focused so talking about individual skills of healers in PvE is unrelated. It's not, though, as the nerfs apply to the skills in PvE as well as in PvP. This isn't as though it's taking something overpowered and adjusting it so that it performs in a more balanced way only in a PvP scenario while not affecting its PvE use.
Why is there a difference in PVP and PVE gear? Why do I put all the effort into getting high level gear then have to turn around and get a whole nother set just to PVP? Why can't they both be used the same? This is one of the reasons that I do not do much PVP, but when I choose to I would like to last for more than three seconds. The reason is because so many skills have different value outputs vs players and vs mobs. Damage to players is intentionally nerfed because when a raid geared player is putting out enough dps to kill something with multiple millions of hit points single-handed, another player would drop insanely fast. PvP fights would literally devolve into 'whoever gets the first attack wins', because the target player would be dead before they even realized they were under attack. So skills are designed pre nerfed vs players, and you get the PvP gear to to make yourself more powerful vs players. This is a very simplified and dumbed down explanation all the ins and outs of balancing would take more than the 15,000 character limit to explain, so I won't.I just don't see why they cold not just simplify it by by making pvp damage 1/10 or if that is not enough 1/100 what it is for PVE. It is just really annoying having to get two sets of gear every expansion.
PvP started to circle the drain with the release of Wrath. Before that it was a much less segregated community. The guys who did arena as well would have gladiator gear as makes sense, the rest of us would be in the best we could get from PvE. Basically it translated to the ideal of PvP better than anything since. There was less multiple set crap, less stupid nonstats. Yes you ran into problems but at least there was a variety. The odd person would have insane burst or lots of health but it'd be at equivalent cost elsewhere.I used to do it as an early BT geared warrior. For flag running it was the business<3 (nerfing that is just another nail in the coffin) but there was none of that roll with flag monk nonsense back then (no chance they'll remove that any day soon..), I was the equivalent of a turtle really. It was so nice to be able to just jump in like that. Melee guys would have trouble with me if they lacked hit etc. but the ranged dudes would wear me down fast enough. I did like no damage though so it balanced out fine. There was certainly more variety in what you'd come up against back then. Back then Tiers, both PvE and PvP meant something too. Quit the game now, don't regret it with the way they're going. They seem to have gone from "everything is available to everyone if they want it and work for it" to "everything is available to everyone in that we'll just pretty much hand it to you". Nothing to work for any more and nothing to take pride in. I see how they got here, think it was all good intentions but they really need to step back and open their eyes.
