So, is it available a rough estimation of how many ghost iron bars i need to get from 0 to 500?
So, is it available a rough estimation of how many ghost iron bars i need to get from 0 to 500?From page 5:Assuming my calculations might be a bit off, current datamined material amounts are at least relatively correct and Blizzard does not nerf GI nodes,You will need 4668 GI bars to get 1-500. Or round it to 4500.Vs about 2500 various bars the old way.
Just did the math and (if I read this correctly and my math is right) its about 3221 Ghost Iron Bars or 6442 Ghost Iron OreI don't know about you but... that doesn't look "easy" to me... seems like a reasonable amount for leveling Blacksmithing.
You still need to farm Ghost Iron Ore. So, you still need to level mining. You're just swapping one tedious farming grind with another.Exactly. What's the point?
Although this change appears to be quite stunning at first (especially to those amongst us with many many alts)This could have a severe impact on the economy of the game, with current tier materials skyrocketing in price and "Vanilla", "TBC", "Northrend" and "Cataclysm" materials being borderline worthlessI agree with the first part.. and that is good. There is no reason low level ores should be that expensive for new players. As for the second part. You have to be level 85 to use this vendor. I really don´t think that many people with lvl 85s are going to suddenly switch to BS.. over time, there will probably always be people using this new system, but I don´t think there is going to be a mad dash on ghost ore as soon as 5.2 drops. And that will probably be more than offset by the fact that most ´real´ BS do not really use much ore anymore. This is kicking in right around the time that basic expansion crafting mats usually plummet in price. But we will see. Ghost ore has been about 50-75g per stack on my server since they cut spawn rates (before then I was easily getting it for 25-30g).
You still need to farm Ghost Iron Ore. So, you still need to level mining. You're just swapping one tedious farming grind with another.Exactly. What's the point? The point is three-fold.1. It is ´natural´ for the vast majority of players to be in Pandaland. Therefore, there is a much more stable supply-demand with regards to ghost ore. If a stack of ore gets up to 100g each, there will be dozens of players who will take advantage and farm some.2. As the game has gained more levels, it is just tedious to train profs on high level toons. We are going from 1-500 not 1-300. It is just not fun gameplay to have to keep track of how many different ores you need, how many of each and keep going back to a trainer to see if you made it to the next ore type.3. New players - This will DRASTICALLY reduce the price of low level ores for new players and make profession training more appropriate for them.I think players are exaggerating the effect this will have on ghost ore prices. There really will not be that many people suddenly deciding to raise BS.
Okay, I've been doing some thinking, and here is what's going to happen:Old-world mats, adamantite, saronite, obsidium, and elementium will remain pretty easy to farm, and fel iron and cobalt will remain pains in the arse to farm. Therefore, people are going to level from 1-300 the old way, switch to ghost iron in order to skip past the fel iron recipes, switch back to the old way when adamantite recipes become available, switch back to ghost iron again to skip past cobalt recipes, then switch back to the old way when saronite recipes become available. As a result, prices for fel iron and cobalt will crash, prices for ghost iron will increase slightly, and prices for everything else will remain the same. Then 5.3 will come along and people will find something new to whine about.
I just wonder when will they do this for Fishing.(no, nat pagle doesn't count, you already need max fishing to get those rare fishes, and need LOTS of them to reach exalted with him before you can buy those stupid manuals)Not anymore my level 52 who I have out in Pandaria with under 100 Fishing has Caught both the Mimic Octopus and the Flying Tiger Gourami... Catch is she can't turn em in till atleast 85, So... it's still pointless, BUT you never catch Trash now in Pandaria (with the exception of trying to catch the Spinefin Alpha you can still catch junk if you don't fish in pools). You catch ATLEAST the Golden Carp now.@Shaitan501: It may devalue non-Ghost Iron Ores a bit, but Blacksmithing isn't the best profession for all classes for stats. It may have the best perks for some classes, but not all. Pre-MoP ores might see a decrease in value and attention, while post-MoP ores might see the opposite of...but once people realize that it takes a million ghost iron ores to max out if you did it exclusively with them, I don't think it'll make such a huge impact - at least not as much as people say it will. What do you mean, ALL classes can benefit from 2 extra Virtually Free Gem slots... Hands/Wrists and be able to make your replacement belt buckle any time you upgrade...
Can anyone confirm that this quest is live? I really like the idea personally but don't want to drop my old profession until I know it's available.
the sad thing is that in 5.3 you can mine ghost iron at any mining lvl but you get tiny amounts...this makes mining and blacksmithing easy as piss to lvl even if it is boring as hell.
