Even the most callous among the mogu quaver at the thought of the dark experiments performed at the Thunder King's behest. Long ago, a young cloud serpent was twisted into a multi-headed hydra and left to languish beneath Lei Shen's throne. Now the twisted creature lurks deep in the Forgotten Depths, awaiting the moment it may finally inflict its terrible agony upon others.

Was afraid this new profession system would be implemented ever since they said that the new Cooking leveling was a try-out.Leveling a profession is something that's a big part of the game, and this change is completely unneeded. It doesn't add anything as low level players still need to do it the old way if they want to level it while they level themselves, and max level players can already easily farm the materials required in a few hours. For the majority of the playerbase leveling a profession is a one time deal, as only hardcore raiders and PvPers will swap out professions for the sake of getting the best perks (which are pretty equal these days mostly). The rest of the players either don't care for other professions, or have other characters for it. So I don't see the problem with leveling a profession taking a few hours of grinding old materials, especially since Blizzard always wants people to see the world. This is just going to remove more old world interaction, as well as kill prices on a lot of the old world materials.
Assuming my calculations might be a bit off, current datamined material amounts are at least relatively correct and Blizzard does not nerf GI nodes,You will need 4668 GI bars to get 1-500. Or round it to 4500.While this does seem logical, as you can get stacks of ores in minutes, and it's currently way undervalued, making such a raw change...I just hope they can predict AH prices and how overcrowded mining spots are.Best reason I can think of, is that they do not intend to make it 1-500. That's the reason of absurdly high GI iron cost for some "projects"(100 bars for a pick? srsly?). More likely, it's a way to skip a metal you find messy to farm, or finish the bracket you are currently working on, and have lacked mats to finish. So maybe if you stock ~500 GI bars and just roll your BS as usual, these 500 bars might save you some time, given their relatively(so far) ease of acquiring. One way or another - go buy GI on AH now(while it's 1-2g per bar). The news spread quickly, and even soon GI will rise just because people have bought it out before you. In the next patch, lots of alts will try to roll BS this way, for better or for worse, but the price will rise, and least you can get away with is - like I said above, easier rolling, or maybe even making a hefty profit(if you are into that kind of thing).
If you disagree with me Wirx that's your call man, but the whole bashing me thing is a bit far. I disagree with you too. What you posted is your opinion. We're entitled to that, so be it. Long as you explain why you hold your views, no problem.Skinning makes up for that with the fact that you can skin other people's kill etc. Severage.
At least if you have to grind out mining first you can sell the mats you're not crafting with, and it works towards the guild achievement for mining.
Leveled BS from 1-600 a week ago. Costed a fortune grr.....
Amazing BS change! I recently powerleveled BS on a low pop server. It was near impossible; I had to level mining myself just to get the ridiculous amount of mats.
Personally,i don't like this change (if it makes in live that is), because when i roll freshly on a server that i have no previous characters on , i pick mining & skinning / herbalism and sell the mats i get on the AH , so i don't have problems with gathering the 280%/310% flight speed cost .It's mostly mining that grants me the most income.Oh well,i will just pick skinning & herbalism instead next time. :P
When I think about how I killed myself getting my Blacksmithing caught up pre MoP, I die a little on the inside. Still it's a welcome change.

I don't get it... Besides a few people getting sore that they leveled Blacksmithing before the patch, I don't see the problem so many people have with the revamp. It's not like they got rid of the agonizing grind of trotting the globe looking for veins and deposits. They just let max-levels have an easier time of it. If you want to do it the hard way, by all means, do it. If you think it's an "unneeded change" and that it "offers nothing", the revamp clearly is not meant for you. That said, don't do it.It's annoying reading the comments of people who make a big deal out of nothing. The option is yours, whether you want to take the easy way or the hard way. No one is taking anything from you. More options are just open for different kinds of people. Shut up and stick to what you enjoy, and if that doesn't work for you, try something else. No need to bash Blizzard or the game for creating more optionsOn the revamp itself, I like what they've done. Hated derping around Azeroth for cooking mats, and was elated about that revamp. Elated once again that they're doing it for BS, and hope that options become available for other professions as well, namely Leatherworking and Enchanting, two of the most annoying profs ever for me.And I guess I'll be the first one to say it: Megaera is awesome. :D
If they're going to revamp professions, they should have worked on Engineering and make it worth having at lower levels. I've never seen a profession that is utter garbage till you hit Northrend level training.
Remember that, you can still do ALL the hard work, but if you don't want to do all the hardwork, you can simply do the BS quest in Pandaria. Nothing wrong with this. And I think Leatherworking should get something like this as well.
#1 I leveled every profession in the game to the max in BC with the exceptions of Inscription and Blacksmithing which I finished up in the first 6 months of LK. I also know how much it cost to level a profession thru the AH and its steadily gone up since BC to the point that it hurts new players. This is better. #2 On skinning for KW omfg I agree that it needs help badly. If they could do something so that unlooted mobs could still be skinned it would help. #3 Starting with LK, leveling became so fast that a character in what was at that time was normal play could not level most primary professions without a lot more mat runs than before. I am of the opinion that this is the was why they initiated XP for gathering. In any case crafting at the lower levels just flat out became only marginally useful. The items became obsolete fast as hell and you either needed; a lot of gold, help on the mats or the time to do a lot of gathering to keep your craft level useful for you current playing level.#4
