Lmao you should say this to Cooking. Things should be fun not tedious. There was nothing fun about the old version. I can attest to that because I've tried doing it and I just can't.Professions were never meant to be ignored till level cap. Try levelling a prof while you level a toon sometime. What you make as you go along is amazingly useful. If you wait till cap and then complain about the tedium of acquiring 599 skill points in one sitting, well, I've no sympathy, sorry. You asked for the tedium by doing that.TLDR: Small consistent efforts yield great rewards.
OMG...Ghost Iron Ore and Bars are going to skyrocket!Time to dust off the 'ol miner toon.
Well, it appears that lower level blacksmithing mats will be a lot less relevant if the PTR changes get approved. I am guessing that Windwool will be used in similar amounts for Tailoring, Exotic leather for leatherworking, and probably tea leaves for Alchemy. Jewelcrafting will be a tad tricky given the inability to mine up gems normally.
The blacksmithing training is extremely disappointing. Where is the fun/work in the new 5.2 system?Keep the old.yeah cause i really need to spend over a hundred gold for a stack of fel iron which is pretty much entirely used up on a skill up rated green for several points. blacksmithing is severely flawed in older leveling right now. this is exactly what we need.
1 more tiny step towards WoW just playing itself for you.So true....kind of sadWait.... what?Warcraft and all the game with pictures suck! Give me some MUDs! That was some exploring and imagination involved. Kids nowadays have it sooooo easy with the pics, i mean every single game has them. No wonder we get movies like Transformers sold out.EDIT: And dammit! I just sold all my alt's bank worth of Ghost Iron for 10g per stack -_-'
This is kinda good and kinda bad..... I mean this is good for getting your blacksmithing up obviously, and it should also so make it so that Ghost Iron is basically worthless in the auction house (on my realm anyway). However it will probably make most ores under ghost iron a lot less valuable. The only reason to buy lower tier ores now is for specific recipes that a plateful of people on the realm can make in the first place......
Oh yeah, heading to the AH, so challenging.
i hate to say The BS changes are so lame. Go farm mats. That is the challenge to leveling a profession.Blizz.. quit with the easy mode everything!i hate to say it, but i do agree. this is a real cop out for the game. they added in CRZ and it broke things....many many MANY things. and instead of actually attempting to fix them, they shortcut with things like this. i make low level friends gear and niche items. MANY of the low level mats for bs are *not* spawning correctly. you see them on the minimap on the screen and you get to them and they phase out. you move away, they phase in. this isnt a solution, this is a gangrenous band-aid you are putting on as a "fix" instead of solving the MASSIVE CRZ issues. stop copping out blizzard, fix the real issues and stop slowly killing the game
I'm a bit sad, since I always believe that in order to get to max level, you have to work for it. At least, that's the theory. But honestly though? I am overjoyed. I have zero desires in farming for mats for hours to create items that has no value whatsoever (sure, I can disenchant it.. but that in itself is tedious). Well, I guess if I want to do it the "old fashioned" way, I still can, so I don't see what people are complaining about. "But this takes away all the challenges of levelling Blacksmithing!Oh bull. The only "challenge" is farming enough mats, by either doing it yourself or buying it on the AH. Don't tell me that is what you would call "challenge"."It cheapens the achievements of those before us!"This is about as true as us using machine guns cheapening the achievements of our ancestors using muskets and spears.
I'm a little worried that his will devalue older mats, and make it harder for newer players to support themselves as they level.yeah cause i really need to spend over a hundred gold for a stack of fel ironNot may people still farm the ore for profit, so those that do will naturally control the market on them. If you don't agree with the prices, level Mining - you know, the intended support profession for a Blacksmith?
Dumbing down again? Such a shame, I always enjoyed the Blacksmithing levelling, I guess they will keep the old style of levelling as well, but yet again they give us CRZ and then take away something that would benefit population in the old world as you level a proffession.
The blacksmithing training is extremely disappointing. Where is the fun/work in the new 5.2 system?Keep the old. There is no work in playing a video game. The changes are pretty stupid though.
nice! now I'll actually be making money farming ghost iron for people who can use it to level bs
Seems pretty cool, but it would be interesting to have minigames or something and "be in school" for professions, then spend a certain amount of time doing it.
My husband recently maxed blacksmithing and I can only imagine how annoyed he'll be when he sees this. I like the changes though, at least they're optional :)
this is not what i hoped to see... bring back the specializations! :( lvling BS is already kinda easy :S
this just means that older ores will no longer be in demand an people wont pick up bs untill lvl 85, bad times
If all professions are changed this way, all crafting materials will have vendor value only. If you can level BS from 1 to 500 using only Ghost Iron, then why would anyone want old world mats (Thorium, Mithril, etc.)? It's a good idea for secondary professions (Cooking, First Aid, etc.) but not Primary ones. This change will not make professions more engaging to new players and it does nothing to fix the problem that leveling a profession as you level up your character simply doesn't work any more. By doing this Blizzard is straight up telling people "Just level up as fast as possible and don't bother with professions until you're level-capped.
Thought this would be the return of BS paths, armoursmith etc. something to fill the (horrendously poorly handled) void but no, it's making it even easier. If you cba levelling BS - don't, go faceroll or whatever it is you do. Why can't Blizzard see that if you give everyone everything instantly:A. Takes less time for us - less money for themB. Damages the AH economy and realm communication between players and interaction C. Nothing to work for - boredom sets in.Hard to keep track of how stupid these guys are at times. Well not "at times", these days.Edit; Crust, spot on, another nail in the coffin of the AH and another vanity/ADHD project launched.
