elstohn when taming pets in the wild; are you unable to capture a pet whos level exceeds the maximum level of your current pets? i have twice in terrokar tamed a lvl 18 rare with my 3 lvl 17s, and when it capped, it too became lvl 17. this to me seems unfair.. or is it just a bug?I can't remember where I read it, but wild pets that are between level 16-19 lose one level when you capture them, wild pets between level 20-25 lose two levels when you capture them. This is working as intended.
I feel obsolete now. No need for mine. (http://www.wowhead.com/guide=1212/battle-pets-and-where-to-find-them shameless plugging until I die!)
Yay! Thank you so much for posting this! I was trying to use the map to see what was in each region but it was a pain. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :)
I'm catching level 16 battle pets using 2 level 15 and 1 level 16 pets. Every time i catch a level 16 it says something about the pet being weakened from battle and its knocked down to a level 15. What can i do to stop this or can it not be prevented?
I feel obsolete now. No need for mine. (http://www.wowhead.com/guide=1212/battle-pets-and-where-to-find-them shameless plugging until I die!)I gave you a five and a view. I bet they used your guide to help make this.
Is there a list someplace of the point levels for Rare wild pets? I noticed that level one it seems to be around 22 total points and level three was like 54?
I feel obsolete now. No need for mine. (http://www.wowhead.com/guide=1212/battle-pets-and-where-to-find-them shameless plugging until I die!)Yours is still quite usefull as it contains alot of info about pets outside of the actual wild pets. This is a more specialized guide for just the wild pets, but yourse still has alot of value for those just beginging their pet search and want to colect all the vendor/event/quest pets!
One real good addon for finding out the quality of pet's your fighting against, is Pet Battle Quality Glow (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info21362-PetBattleQualityGlowMoP.html). It will color code the name of the pets that are fighting, allowing you to see the quality of the pet before you capture it. Poor Quality is Grey, Common Quality is White, Uncommon Quality is Green, Rare Quality is Blue.
You've got all this and the new species map, which is great, but do you have any information at all about what level the pets are in zones? I can't find anything for that anywhere on the internet, except in the addon ZoneLevelInfo. So, using that, I made this pretty bad pet-level map for myself and a friend who was having the same problem. Maybe it'll help someone else reading this.Edit: ah, perculia already commented about levels. Goood.Actually, this is incredibly helpful, thank you.
Umm one small complaint, you have winterspring listed under Eatern Kingdoms :) i dont think it relocated recently lol
Wow all the information is here. Too good guys. Txs u so much. And u are my home page since 4 years ago.
I have a few pet battle articles in mind--covering the leveling flow, unique models, etc. Just don't want to overwhelm everyone in one mega-article :)I was in the process of making one for myself, though I'd only got up to level 13 or so. Very nice!
Some of the pets are on the wrong tabs. For example there are winterspring locations on the eastern kingdoms tab. Also, some of the pets are listed as the wrong type, I'm pretty sure that apes are not Flying pets.
Thanks a million! This data will save sooo much time and searching. I'm loving the new pet battles but Blizz still needs to work on the organization of the pet journal. Am I the only one thinking its ridiculous that they won't let you sort by pet lvl?
I swear I read "Pets Gone Wild" as the title of this guide the first time I clicked on this...
Good guide. I would suggest, however, to remove any species which can not in fact be caputred (e.g., mule deer). Or put such species in their own section; it is still helpful information to know what one's pets may come up against as seconds.
Thank you! :D i was trying to find something that mentioned about different levels in different zones. This map is a great help!
Fantastic resource, just thought i'd share an unlisted species, just caught in the Cape of Stranglethorn- Wharf Rat. Looks like a rat. It joined a Beetle in a fight. I'll upload my data when i'm done playing - i assume this info is captured there and so eventually will lead to the list being updated. Its searchable on the site already.
I guess I was right. Trying to catch em all and this is helping me find them.
