I'm the first to comment on this and the first to say it sounds pretty stupid to me. Talk about driving down the cost of professions crafted items. With this new system we'll make even less money on selling our goods. Stop making this game so easy. You keep simplifying it over-and-over. What you are doing with this new expansion is very reminiscent of what Sony did with Star Wars Galaxies, which used to be an awesome game until the new game edition expansion came out which destroyed the game. It's like the old saying goes if it's not broke don't fix it.
So I guess the question is, is this a substitution for the new elemental materials across the board for this expansion, i.e. the Spirit of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter? I sure hope they aren't dumbing down the crafting even more this expansion.
Lol, people complain about the stupidest things. So what if you can't sell the Spirit of Harmony, you'll still make a metric crap ton of gold off the ores, leathers, herbs and cloth. All they did this time around was make the standard dungeon Orb dropable in the world and put a BoP marker on it.
More mats =/= more complex system. It won't change things too much. Personally, I think that reducing to 1 item makes sense....but, making it BoP counters why I would find it useful.I know they are doing it to hopefully get people to go out into the world to farm vs sitting at the AH to farm (which sux for people who hate farming....like me). But, having a surplus of crafting materials on one toon, and shortage on another will become annoying - very quickly. Many people have multiple toons, and being able to trade materials between them to support professions (and other things) is pretty awesome. The BoP change really impacts that.Once it goes BoA - then I'll be in more of a happy place :)
Basically makes crafting things for others nearly impossible since they can't give you mats anymore...
I for one approve of this feature. :) Between all my toons I have every profession maxed out, and I'm the kind of player who likes to go out and farm for mats, instead of shopping for them on the AH. Sure, I often have to pay hefty fees for rare or hard to farm items in the AH, but I prefer to be as self sufficient as possible.
The new element is... Harmony?*Removes sunglasses*Mother of Celestia.
Meh. If they are like motes/crystals/volatiles, fine, but if they are as hard to come by as Chaos Orbs were before they become non-soulbound, then I'll be annoyed. Unlike some people, I never once said we need to go back into the world or complained about wanting to do that. I don't have any desire to do that. That's what alts are for people. Level an alt. I have no problem with sitting in SW/Org waiting for a queue to pop. Granted I wish DPS queues were shorter (and NPC companions to fill tank/healer roles would instantly solve this), but I still would rather do instances than run around farming mobs. I've done enough farming in my WoW time (7 years off/on and counting). I think if they don't want people selling them then the better solution would be to make them BoA (not BoE). Then people could send them to alts and not wind up where their non-crafting alts have 10 times more than their crafters.
I think this is great. But of course, as always, haters going to hate.Cheers.
It's just another damn coin that you will have to farm, like justice points.
Slight correction to the OP: Tailors use Spirits of Harmony only for the Song of Harmony, which allows them to create Imperial Silk without the usual cooldown. It's like Cataclysm's Dream of Destruction. For creating the actual epics, they use only Imperial Silk (for 476s) or Imperial Silk and Blood Spirits (for 496s).
