The change is a knee-jerk reaction to an issue in the famous blizzard fashion and it causes more problems then it solves. It will cause people to focus only on specific pets that theorycrafters deem to be the most powerful instead of exploring the world as blizzard would like. A better solution would be that any caged pet is automatically reduced to level 1 while keeping it's rarity. this means that rarer pets like ones that are seasonal/day or night/rare spawn timer will be available to people on a stricter schedule. It will also not give people the edge of simply buying a lvl20+ pet right from the start and steam rolling the mechanics.People get to trade, people get to buy and no one is more powerful for it, only more diverse.
Good, they are removing the possibility pet battles to become a lame, money-driven endgame.
If trading was allowed, it would become just another item for the gold farmers to abuse.Correct decision, IMO.
I agree with what Blizzard is doing. I don't think allowing the ability to put the pets on AH is a good idea. Easily abused by gold farmers and takes away from the joy of EARNING your pet.
I think this will make for a more interesting time collecting. As much as I'd love some extra gold from farming these, I think the gameplay will be more satisfying this way.
im sure once people read that pets wont be tradeable that before MoP is out they are gonna go for crazy money now on the AH
I agree with Blizzard on this one. It helps keep the system a little more "casual", which was their original intent. Sure you can still "buy rares" through the blizz pet store for real money, but you can't find all of the kinds of pets on there, or maybe even the abilities you would want on a pet like you might find in the wild.tl;dr - I like this restriction.
My problem is trying to get the rare version of all the pets. You could get lucky and get it the first one you battle, or you could kill 1,000 and still not get it. I don't really agree with this, as it would have been a good way to get gold, to sell to those that didn't want to spend x hours farming a certain rare
In my opinion, they're taking away a new way for players to earn gold without being forced to use their professions. A better way would be to put a restriction on the AH pets: ''You can not buy a pet of level ## until three of your pets have reached at least level ##''. That way people will still have to work for their pets without Blizz crushing a viable option for making gold via the AH.
There are already ways to make plenty of money without professions, as long as you don't mind farming.
"Look at my new battle pet"Q1) "How much did it cost?"Q2) "Wow, how long did that take you to get?"I know which question sounds better.
Why not just make it so that crating/uncrating the pets is a skill you get after completing an achievement and/or meeting a minimum pet level(eg can't trade pets under level 10)? It keeps people from wiping the floor with high leveled pets before they should have them, and it still forces people to go explore to hunt for pets. Gold farmers would be less likely to try and farm them as it would require actual work to be able to sell the pets, without affecting casual players who just want to have a good time.
