I'm sure somebody else already said the same thing, but I don't think 100k is too bad with SWTOR releasing this quarter. Obviously it's never good to lose subscribers, but it could have been a whole lot worse, given the hype around SWTOR in the MMO community.Cata was not their best expansion as a whole, and hopefully they've learned some lessons. A lot of people are decrying pandas and Pokemon, but it's a far cry from what we've been given, so I'm hopeful for its success.
its going to drop heaps when the new panda expansion pack comes out. they spent ages refining the talent tree system now they're pretty much scraping it. also pandas i mean c'mon. get some ideas blizz. i just think they need to let it die out eventually instead of making new expansion packs that are getting worse. dont be like a tv show that runs past its prime and is remembered as ^&*!. let it die out when its still going ok
It doesn't surprise me. They took what was just an awesome game and have run it into the ground. I remember back in Vanilla when i first tried doing ZG. It was madness, but it's what really got me into it. I thought to myself "This is !@#$ing BADASS!" Then when BC came out and introduced Kara....i jizzed in my pants. Sure there was Mag's Lair and BT and SSC but Kara was Kara. Then WotLK was released...it was like going to a restaurant because you saw a commercial and the ribs looked so amazing only to have them look like beef jerky when you got there. You know what..I'm not going into detail anymore. World of Warcraft just got too damned easy and boring. There were times when i looked forward to raid night with the guild. Now you can pug them and get farther in the LFR as opposed to the guild run. I know the strategies are different, but you are pretty much geared by the time most people are raiding. I feel like im breaking up with the girl of my dreams. It's sad, so so sad...........
Nothing surprising here...the onslaught of other games that came out late last year + SWTOR + stale WoW content = the perfect storm for massive subscriber losses. 10 million is still a lot.
SWTOR, or "Tortanic" is easily the most broken game to be released in the past 2-3 years. Aion had less issues at launch then tortanic has 2 months after release. I'm surprised it still has around a million.WoW's population will continue to go down over time as people move on. The expansions are getting steadily much worse and the game is losing all of the mystique and wonder that it used to have. It will never be what it was in 04-07 again. Not to mention all of the content released since cata can be beaten by a pug of 10 year olds.Players will slowly be siphoned away by new games. No game will ever single handedly pull over 5 million subscribers from WoW. It's encouraging to see that people are trying other games.
Since a lot of people will not play MOP...i think they will loose a lot more next year
i think this a real testament to how bad wow has gotten they pulled out all the stops played every trick in the book and they still lost players and they are going to have to continue to do this just to keep the loss rate minimal
Ya not a suprise here. They keep not listening to players and going cheap. The game lossing it everything. The lore is so screwed up now it not funnie. Expansion with 5 zones and a lead players around by the nose idea sucks!. They need a real expansion not a panda becase there pandering to the kiddies. I love see a whole redo to fix the lore. Give us a real expansion..lots lands, lots new quest (that can be done anyway you wish) and most of all give us back our game. Bliz need to stop being cheap and crappie. The reason to play is the way it can be differant for every player. Just becase you want to go this way. Why vanela was so much fun.
where are these 10 million subscribers playing? i know the american servers have like 6 realms that are actually full..the others are mid to low/newplayers. that can't add up to a whole heck of alot. and when do you think they will start merging low pop realms? maybe i should go check out an actual blizzard forum.
I still don't get the big deal behind subscriber numbers, unless maybe you have money invested in Activision/Blizzard (even then, it's not their only successful game). If a game is fun, I don't much care how many people are playing it. Obviously, games like WoW require a certain amount of people to be fun in some cases, but I think 10 million is still more than enough. I'm still having fun anyway, so you all should keep playing for me!
I still want pandas!
