Usually play a mage/rouge hybrid if I can, if I can't usually a mage. Very excited for this game.
I always tend to go towards the ranged types. Rangers, hunters. That kind of thing. My next favourite is generally melee characters.. rogues, warriors.. up close and personal-in-your-face-types. Always enjoyed tanking.

Since I entered the world of fantasy role playing at around 14, I always ended up playing the sneaky character. Bursting out of the shadows, takin'em out by surprise have always been my deal. The feeling of a one shot kill coming from a high critted a sneak attack...One of a kind.My main on WoW being a tank is just a dilemma I still could not figure out =)
I usually play a range or rouge class, but after playing the KoA: Reckoning demo (way too many times) I'm very likely to be playing a rouge / caster hybrid. This game take the best elements and puts them together beautifully for a seamless action RPG experience. If you have not tried the demo, you're missing out. Though truthfully, if you're trying to save money, then you may want to pass as you'll find yourself in line to shell out $60 next week.
Mage, always a mage. Not really sure why, probably all started with my Gandalf 'obsession'.
a dmg dealing off healer is my typical rpg favorite. but in groups(ala bg/iwd/nwn) it depends on the type of "npc's/companions" i have.
Having 11 85s in WoW, I sometimes have a problem defining what my favorite role is. That being said, hand me a bow or a spellbook and watch me go!
I almost always find myself playing melee DPS roles, which might carry over into tanking. Which means anything along Fighter-types. I don't get too into rogue or thief types. It always feels like such a hassle to avoid getting hit and focusing on sneak attacks. I like being up front and in the mix. Anytime I play a range or caster type I find myself getting antsy, like I'm not contributing everything I can to get the job done, so I usually end up going back to melee.
I always end up playing a ranged caster or a rogue type class
I pretty much always play a rogue or something, i enjoy being sneaky. in my perfect little world I'm a ranged / sneaky though but sometimes you cant have your cake and eat it too :D
I've always tended towards casters. Its stemmed from when I played a wizard in D&D. I set myself up for disappointment with that, though. Most games don't let you transmute 6 cubic feet of sand into air in order to trap some skeletons.
