In my experience of RPG's, I don't tend to stick to one particular class, but I will go for the classes which get to hit lots of buttons, and are usually quite fast paced. This is usually refined to ranged/melee classes, but sometimes the odd caster, aslong as it can do something, besides stand there and spam frostbolts. This helps keep me versatile, I can tank, do damage, or heal, as long as I have fun doing it, and don't get bogged down casting spells. ._.
I usually play a caster. something about hurling a fireball across an enemy or slowing time makes me feel more powerful then swinging a sword or picking a lock.
I like a lot of different things, but I usually go for casters first. Someone that can heal is nice for MMOs but for Reckoning I'll focus on nuking folks.
I usually go for casters, but lately I've been really excited of rogues. I prefer to detect enemies before they detect me, so stealthing and hiding is just my type. Loved the demo when I tried it out, and there I went for rogue!
I play mostly stealthy melee or ranged
Most of the time I'm playing a Tank.
My choice depends on the tipe of rpg i'm playing to. In wow i played all kind of roles but i like most the ranged classes, especially hunters and warlocks (i like summoning cause of my old passion for final fantasy :P). In exploring rpgs like fable or the elder scroll saga, i usually develope magics first and i focus on defending while fighting to be free of casting powerfull spells (my best oblivion combo was umbra, a 1h sword with soultrap, mixed with a spell created by myself that deals 100 damage of fire, frost and thunder at each touch. kinda powerfull :P). Anyway i don't dislike melee abilities with awsome cinematics.Last thing to point out talking about classes. I really miss the FF job system; it was ways better than all squaresoft and squareenix choices after FF8 and the FF13's cristallium isn't a real choice of role, no matters what programmers say -.-Enjoy
Melee, heavy armor- wearing warrior-like characters are usually my favorites. There is something really epic about cleaving stuff in the face with a sword. =P
I almost always play the warrior/melee type class. In more recent games I have seen more and more of the Monk type class, which is what I used to play in Everquest after my Necromancer, but I still favor the melee.
I have always played a caster based class in rpg's. Wow was the first game I played a melee class.
I usually find my self as a warrior, brandishing a hulking war mace or two battle axes with a buckler at my disposal if I find my self in a tight situation. Fully clad in a mix between Heavy and medium armor for agile movement. Over all I tend to find my self playing a Berserker /Barbarian. No remorse,No quarter,No survivors.
Depends how i feel about the "difficulty" of the game, and which class will make it the easiest. For SWTOR i went with Tank + Heal Companion, which allowed me to basically go AFK.For SRPGs i usually tend to go with casters first, unless i notice early on i'm just too squishy.Or if it's like Skyrim where Casters lack any form of scaling, i reroll rather soon to a melee based agility/thief like class.
I typically play a ranger/fighter class. Lots of utility decent damage.
Gotta give it up to the ranger class. Always my first pick in any game.
i love playing pure ranged dps classes, i could never be an item vendor like mage vendors in other games. if i'm playing with friends i will take on support classes but the mmo support class should be versatile with offheals, slows, dots all at once like the everquest shamans.
I usually tend towards magic types unless there's unarmed combat. Who doesn't like beating people with their bare fists?
I tend to play melee classes, heavy armor wearing warriors to backstabby rogue-types. I like to get right in there and crush some heads.
I usually play a tanky healer for maximum awesomeness. I sometimes like to mix it up with a big of nuking from a mage.
The evil caster archetype.
I hope i'm not to late, I've been following this game since September 2011, My favorite class is by far the monk or Rogue-like classes, something about being that bad ass who stealth's into enemy territory and just kills people, or just fights them head on with quick attacks and fast dodges, i love it, i cant wait to make a Finesse/sorcery rogue with my faeblades! =3
