Blizzard Entertainment is proud to announce the 2012 Battle.net World Championship, a major global eSports event featuring some of the best pro-gaming competition in the world. Slated to take place in Asia toward the end of 2012, the Battle.net World Championship will host this year’s StarCraft II and World of Warcraft Arena World Championship tournaments. Blizzard gamers and eSports fans from around the world will be invited to attend and witness some of the most skilled pro players on the planet battle it out for cash and glory.
We’re excited to be showcasing Blizzard eSports on a truly global stage this year. We're also heavily focused on getting Diablo III, Mists of Pandaria, and Heart of the Swarm into players’ hands as soon as possible. In light of our jam-packed schedule, we’ve decided to hold the next BlizzCon in 2013.
More details about the 2012 Battle.net World Championship and BlizzCon 2013, including specific dates and locations, will be coming in the months ahead.
Hmm, I wonder if that means that Diablo III and Pandaria will be delayed, or are they just preparing for a big announce (Titan) in 2013?
HOLY S**T!Looks like the delays are becoming some kind of a snollball and they need to 'catch up' with the schedule.
So when is mist of pandaria going to cm
That's disappointing. I was looking forward to going this year.
Considering that the odd-numbered year Conventions were the only ones worth going to, not surprised and in fact a little relieved that there's no Blizzcon for 2012. It takes a lot of time out of the schedules of the gamemakers to make contributions to the conventions -- and they bring EVERYONE from Blizzard over to do panels/presentations. It's really for the better to allow them to work on their three (huge) projects instead of having to have devs/animators/programmers assemble presentations and speeches and whatnot.I mean, anyone remember Blizzcon 2008? It was the convention where Greg Street (Ghostcrawler) first appeared. It was the eve of WotLK's launch and everyone was hyped about whether or not GC was female or not (lol). The pictures of him at that time were..... well, he looked absolutely haggard. And since he was not only being lead dev but relentlessly providing feedback on the forums about everything (he was infamous at the time for his intense forums presence) it wasn't too far of a stretch that him both having to finalize systems for WotLK + constant forums browsing + setting up Blizzcon was taking a huge toll on him.I went to Blizzcon in 2011 and went to some of the non-broadcasted panels. In particular, I went to the art and animation panel. Blizzard houses no more than 12 people to work on the art and animations for WoW. Considering how much stuff they have to make? How ambitiously huge MoP is going to be in comparison to the content we got in Cataclysm? They are going to be pulling some seriously long shifts before this year is even halfway through..... let alone the systems programmers, raid designers, writers...And then there's Diablo 3, Heart of the Swarm and the mysterious new MMO.Yeah. They're busy. It's totally understandable.
Embrace yourselves... 2012 is really the end of the world!
Man, I was making plans to go this year too. Bummer.
2012 Blizzcon would have sucked anyway. Nothing to announce. 2011 Blizzcon was awesome. D3, MoP, Starcraft. There was all kinds of stuff to talk about. 2012 Blizzcon would fall right after everything released. They'd get to talk about upcoming patches or some other garbage.I'm fine waiting until 2013, when Titan will be announced and there will actually be stuff to talk about.
have a plan on it
<cough> L.A.M.E. <cough>Blizzard, please explain to my young daughter why she will not be able to attend Blizzcon this year. Her dreams are now crushed.A Championship Event? Are you serious? In Asia? Are you really serious?SMH
To misquote my good friend Bender"Fine then I will build my own Blizzcon with hookers and blackjack!"Seriously though they could have a party without having a major announcement.
2nd sentence (in the non-blue text section) - there should be their.
Eh, can see that, since they want to get out three major launches this year, even if a lot of Diablo 3 will be done via digital downloads heh.
Welp, for me, this is confirmation of a Sinking ship.Play on band, Play on.
