Lol, warlocks get al the cool stuff, gotta level mine up :)
Figures. 7 years of waiting for Enslave Demon to finally be useful, and what does blizzard do instead? Give an undead version to Death Knights, and leave ours alone. Bleh ><On a less whiny note, i do love the lock changes. Wild Imps in particular looks pretty awesome.
TLDR version: I hate the talent changes, but a lot of the class mechanic changes look pretty awesome.I'm having a hard time with the argument that taking away a bunch of choices is giving us more choice in our spec. I get that removing "mandatory" talents opens up more utility choices, but let's be honest I think that those "mandatory" talents are a pretty good idiot check. If you can take 5 minutes to find a cookie cutter spec on the net and skip TNT as a surv hunter, then you're not sharp. Also I loved the 51 point tree because every level after 10 you have a little bit of choice and shaped your toon slowly as you leveled up. Sure you made mistakes and took some crappy talents or did them in the wrong order, but that was part of learning and you figured it out or asked for help. You can tell me that 5 levels in a row putting in points that gave you 1% crit isn't fun or exciting, but I disagree...On the other hand a lot of the other class changes that they've made look awesome; I don't even play a druid, but finally totally separating kitty and bear druids seems like an overdue change. The new lock stuff looks fun, and putting a bigger line between holy and disc priests is a good idea.
i cant wait to be a panda!
I'm going to confine myself to what we're being offered as the allegedly "new" mage spells because my main is a mage. We have 3 spells on offer, Arcane Orb, Frost Orb and Alter Time. The first 2 are simply clones of the Flame Orb spell which mages already wield and, consequently, as "new" only in the most technical of senses. In fairness we have no information about whether damage will be modified by specialization. If the damage done increases by using the orb appropriate to one's spec, that might be nice but, in fact, there's not going to be such a modification because I will use Arcane Orb in Arcane spec and a Flame Orb in Fire spec so even that possible advantage disappears. Rather like the 3 flavors of Polymorph available as talents at L90 these "new" spells are simply the same-old, same-old in different packaging. They represent a failure of imagination on the part of the game designers. So that leaves mages with 1 and only 1 really new spell, Alter Time. It sounds great though I'm going to need to see how it works in combat to appreciate it. But, please don't lose sight of the fact that we will be leveling to 90. In 5 levels we are going to get exactly 1 truly new spell - 1 spell in 5 levels - doesn't that sound completely impoverished to you too? I think that Blizzard has put a lot of time and effort into destroying the talent system with the proposed redesign and ignored spells in the process. I'm sure that some spells for some classes will be interesting and useful but the game that we play because it's smart, funny and clever is being dumbed down further when the designers scrape some leavings off the floor of the designers' area and repackage it as "new". It's a horrible thing when a game that exists wholly in imagination begins to lose its imaginative soul.
Well... i guess the new priest spell is good... Not that i thought much of it before but... Im happy.
Oh and you forgot prot warriors lost blood and thunder, so they can't aoe tank at all again. Blood and thunder turned into an arms only ability, which I am super confused about. I would rather have it on my prot spec than my arms spec. Kinda disappointed that every class barring hunters have got something super super cool, and warriors get a weakened down version of a shaman ability that was crap in the first place.
I know I haven't been here forever -- much less do I have any right to opinion, considering I haven't played this game in years -- but I physically drooled on myself when I saw what the Warlocks were going to be getting.Blizzard... After several years, numerous complaints, billions of dollars, and thousands of people defecting... You've finally figured it out! :D
1 &*!@ spell for DK, 200 spells for Warlock. Great.
Demonic Portal? Sounds like another class that has movement speed benefit from haste. If a lock's haste is enough they can jump 70 yards every few seconds by summoning portals jumping through them and summoning them again. Now you are thinking with portals.
It's an awesome spell. I am looking foreward to enslaving undeads and dropping them in towns. That would suck though if the dk had to channel to control the undead.
Looks boring and will most likely be very boring. I thought this next expansion was suppose to show Blizz learning from mistakes..
Someone please check http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/game/mists-of-pandaria/feature/talent-calculator#VZ and tell me if i correctly understand that Metamorphosis becomes a Form/Stance....in that calculator (I know its not a final calculator but just the thought....) there seems to be no cd or mana cost. Wouldn't that be great? (and a huge QQ target)?-edit for grammar
Mage: I have no time to raid anymore /tear my life is so time consuming.... whats this? a new spell?Mage casts alter timeMage: Who's ready to raid! I got all the time in the world BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Well, I've just read all (yes, ALL) of the comments, and I must say, I do agree with most people. - Nothing new (SO FAR! dont start bashing me with the 'pre-alpha' bullshnizz) - Old skills repackaged (lolmao at warrior 'new spells') - Something done to talent trees that shouldn't be viewed by people under 18 years of age (did someone say rape?)Most of all, I am disappointed with blizzards lolable attempt at rebuilding talent trees. Talents seem boring and most people will end up with the same talents anyway and this might even happen for people of same class but different specs (think warr dps / warr tnk, depending on the tanking style, a player might go for the exact same talents as a DPS). They might as well just remove talents all together or give us 2 points per lvl and make super huge talents trees with a ton of different (yet just as useful!) talents so people wont always have the same trees as others of the same class.Overall, it seems like blizzard is trying to scrape up a little more dough from the ideas their designers came up with years ago. Now, developers try to repackage those ideas and feed them to us as 'brand new'. Sorry, but until I see something genuinely new and interesting (not bashing pandas, but a new race/class has been done before...) I will consider this 'expansion' just a marketing stunt (blizzard needing more bling?)Final thoughts - This is bullsht!Blizzard, next time try to keep your designers around in case you need to make another expansion and most of all, please do not insult our intelligence.-Now that my QQ is over, here are some quotes worth quoting from these comments :D
Hey Sith... You don't get the Druid thing, do you? When Blizzard made the Druid class, they were setting out for a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of class, one that could handle each situation with proficiency, but not with the skill that other classes have. Druids were meant to be a "fill the gap" class. Unfortunately, with people such as yourself and other whiners, Druids entered the mainstream, having to be buffed up in order to meet the uncompromising requirements put forth by people like you, and became watered down, less-interesting versions of other classes. What Blizzard is trying to do (now that they have the technology, which they purchased from money YOU GAVE THEM AT YOUR OWN FREE WILL) is re-establish the Druid class as it's meant to be, but now not entirely pathetic -- the talent trees will provide each and all specializations with benefits to fill up emergency roles. Now, if you (and others) would get your head(s) out of your (bear) ass(es), please try to realize the following:
