With each qrtr numbers..the coming release of SW:ToR sees even more ominous. I think it is without a doubt that Blizz is timing the release of patch 4.3 to SW:ToR to offset the damage. Even if players don't quit WoW and play both games, it will still mean divided time and less players on overall which could lead to frustration on the part of players looking for ques and pugs. This definitely could have a spiraling effect.
As a veteran WoW player since Vanilla, the problem lies with Ghostcrawler himself. Everything was fine until the day he joined WoW during WoTLK and screw all classes and mechanics. I miss the day where we actually PLAY the game. Today, everything was handed and feeded to you with magical spoon.Remember the day we actually seek our way to dungeons and group quest by walking and mounts?Remember we actually enjoyed the scenery outdoors and indoors?Remember the day we actually farmed for mats to create the awesomeness?Remember the day we screwed up in dungeons, QQ for hours, went to sleep with anger but turn out to be another joyful day the next login without giving up?Remember the day we actually seek for members to join for quest and dungeons?Remember the day we admire other class for being different? Now we actually click one button, sit on our a$$ and voila we're ready for dungeons. Now we actually fly 280-310% just to reach our destination. Now we actually get crafted items easily without much hassle. It's not even RARE to not see them in town. Now we actually kicked and get another member in just minutes and QQ for the rest of the durations about that outsiders. Now all classes are JUST carbon copies of each others. Skills with same mechanics with different name tag on it to confuse you "Oh looks this skills can stun / silence / disable". Perfect.I've left WoW one month before the 600k decline in subscribers announcement, which I already felt it was coming. As a healer, I get instant pop up, but it didn't happen after complaints of Cataclysm appeared in numbers on their forums. I was told the long que duration is due to excessive amounts of healers playing Cataclysm expansion, which was a lie since the 600k decline appeared in news, I get it that someone altered the que system and make it looks as WoW is still played by millions. Now another 800k gone, with only China subscribers supporting it, we now get the clue that most of the veteran are indeed disappointed with what's going on Cataclysm, especially the next expansion featuring Panda, the China's national animal. At last, Blizzard gets the expansion into China market. I missed the game, the game before Wotlk. But I know I won't be back until some miracles happen. Until then, I'll be watching the ongoing projects of WoW on the sideline.
I guess the words "bad game design" are equivalent to "Yo mama". I found that useful info. We all have touch words that set us off, and I guess these words feel too personal. It's funny really since its just symantics, but my guess is we could use stronger language and still get them to listen, but those three words just kill the dialogue.
I don't know why anyone cares if wow loses subscribers. Are you investing in blizzard's parent company? Well I have bad news for you, as big as wow's profits might be, it's a tiny drop in the bucket for vivendi/activision/blizzard. I actually bought some of their stock just before wrath release thinking the huge sales numbers would cause a small run, but honestly no one in the business world cares if wow has 10 million subs or 1 million. Gaming is an extremely ruthless and competetive industry. For the players less subs could actually be better, combine a couple low pop servers, less servers, more chance to meet people on your server etc. Smaller, closer community right? Wow getting larger hasn't really upped the level or quality of patches/expansions. The were good quality and at about the same rate since launch of burning crusade.
I've said it a few times in other posts but may as well add it in here again: WoW has 10 million subs at this point. That alone is going to set the bar for any other MMO that comes out; until they hit that point, they won't be a 'success'. Hell, far as I know/read/seen, Everquest never hit that number(please if anyone knows different correct me). That being said, we're coming up soon on yet another point where they should release the sub numbers; we'll see who in this thread were right or wrong about things.
Haven't logon to WoW for a month already. Been playing Star Wars all this time. I don't plan on comming back even though I paid for the 1year sub to get Diablo 3 free (mistake).Thing with WoW is that1. Too easy too level2. Quest doesn't tie to your character (Quest in Star Wars is closely tie to your character and actually make sense).3.Dungeons and raids are actually hard (LOL WOW face roll!)4.Other MMO's have better graphics 5.WoW HAVE been drag way too long so it gets boring (like come CLASSIC, THEN BC then Warth and Cata and now another expansion) is too much.
