Ninjas BEWARE...your time has come to an end... goodbye...adios and SEE YA!I think you are being extremely optimistic. They already said they are not going to pay attention to spec, only role. I think the ONLY people who are going to be protected at all are tanks on dodge-parry gear, and Holy Pallys on all their plate gear. Every other piece of gear is going to be ninja-able. Healers, aside from pallys, are not going to be protected because spirit is used by some dps casters. And I really think people are going to be upset when kitty druids and enhancement shaman get the 100 bonus when rolling on gear with spirit.. since kitty and enhance are DPS roles, and moonkin and Ellie shaman are DPS roles that use spirit gear.
I was elated when I heard this as I'd only just lost out to the ZG agi staff to a drood healer (I'm a drood tank). I don't mind being in the mix with DPS classes as they're still rolling needing within their main spec, but it will only work if the dps leather and agi weapons are classed as both dps and tanking for the +100 bonus. You could create an argument about plate tanking gear availability being more niche in terms of this change versus dps leather, but until Blizz separate out dps and tanking leather, which they're unlikely to do, we'll simply have to roll with what we've got.
How could they "steal" it when they would use it too? Druids tank with the same stats that rogues use as dps gear. The only combination I can see being marks as "DPS" and not "Tank AND DPS" would be strength leather. (And obviously leather with int)its about who gets the most use out of itThey both get exactly the same use out of it. Point?
So a 2h strength weapon either gets flagged dps only, which hurts blood DKs, OR they get flagged as dps/tank, and your prot pally can ninja it for his offset?Looks like this system being based solely on roll might need some tweaking before it goes live.
a rogue rolls a 1, a druid tank rolls a 100.Rogue still winsThat's not how I understand it. the rogue would get 101 out of 200 (50.5%), the the druid would need to roll a 51 to beat a 1. Still stinks, but not as bad as what you were thinking. Unless I missread it.

Still stinks, but not as bad as what you were thinking. Unless I missread it.You have misread it. Agi Leather is prior for both, so if the Druid rolled 100 and the Rogue rolled 1, then they would 'score' 200 and 101 respectively, and the Druid would win. In that situation, absolutely nothing has changed from the current system. The difference comes in if you change it so that the Rogue rolled 1, the Druid tank rolled 50, and the Druid Healer roll 100. In that situation under the current rules, the healer would win, go "lololol offspec nabs!" and drama would ensue. With the new system, as both the tank and Rogue get +100, the rolls would thus be:Rogue rolls 1 (+100) = 101Druid tank rolls 50 (+100) = 150Druid healer rolls 100 (+0) = 100***Winner is Druid tank***
It is nice that I Tank, as well as, DPS then.
