For all the upcoming whining, I think in making their efforts to create compelling content, Blizzard should make it as available as possible to as many people interested in participating.
No, Bad Blizzard ! Leave them as they are. Fair enough my guild is only 2/7 normal but it gives us something to aim for beating something semi-difficult. Not killing bosses that ave been beaten within an inch of their life with the nerf bat.
Hang on, they're putting the nerfs about several weeks before the new content is introduced? So we have an expansion with chronic subscription cancellation problems (which, from my own personal experience, has fallen disproportionately on raiders), we're at that stage of 'just a couple months before new content' where raid groups tend to fall apart, and now you're nerfing what, for a fair few raid lock outs, will be current content?I didn't mind them nerfing old content while somewhat more serious raiders moved on to new content. I actually thought that was shrewd. But Firelands is still the newest content.
If you are a normal guild, and aren't 7/7, you never were going to kill Rag. Face it.If you're a heroic raiding guild and not at least 6/7, you were never going to kill Heroic Rag. Face it.That said, 4.3 in September? Early October? Delicious.
Sounds like Bashiok has been listening to Gamebreaker.tv's Legendary lol
I really understand why they're making this move, but what they're missing is what it's saying to the players. Sure, it will encourage new subscribers. It will definitely help budding raiders get geared so they can start progressing... but nerfing the top-tier content is only going to alienate current raiders. People are dropping their subscriptions because they're bored and Cataclysm is TOO easy. Making things easier isn't going to ebb the flow of people who stop renewing. Mark my words: it's going to make it worse. Please, Blizzard, stop and think. Work to keep the customers you have and lost rather than focusing on hooking new ones. New subscribers won't save you. The ones that have spent days, months, and years worth of their lives working on characters are the ones that can save you. Ignoring your core customer base in favor of new ones is only going to throw World of Warcraft into its death rattle.
I foresee another subscriber drop from people who are fed up with this.
I don't think this move will actually help the way they are thinking it will. I actually <shudder> find myself agreeing with Pezz here. Don't nerf current content until its not current anymore. That said, the real solution would be some kind of incentive for raiding guilds to recruit and train new members. Something to break the current guild-insularism that is freezing casual players out of even nerfed raids.
Shure, I understand the reasoning by Blizzard, but come on.. Whats wrong with being behind! The challange and acomplishment is the fun in raiding, no?I don't like this attitude at all: "We nerfing it because you can't handle it".I can deal with it when it's not current tier content anymore, but this is rediculus..
Good lord people, Blizzard is damned if they do and damned if they don't with you guys. "I can't get further in Firelands, its too hard!" So they nerf it a bit for you. "NO! You can't nerf it because only the top elite should be able to go through Firelands!" Its like every single thing they do they upset you. Stop complaining and get a grip. You want to be angry? Aim your anger at the players who are whining for nerfs and whining for increased difficulty. Blizzard does what the people want. Don't go after Blizz just because they're the only target you see.
So, my take on nerfing firelands is this. My guild is a small guild.. i don't wish to join a serious raiding guild but i do like also playing the content. I'm a single dad and only can devote so much time to hardcore overly serious raiding.. WOW is not a third job for me. This being said Having the raiding content that i can clear is fun. Raiding content i can't is frustrating. So ya i'm ok with nerfs. As for the people who complain cata content was fail.. well.. i guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions even if you're wrong :P Once again, my opinion and i'm entitled to it. Cata content was fun and engaging and challenging yet attainable. It made sure i had a reason to level new toons to revisit areas i've done over and over for the past 6 years. Wrath content was easy and simplistic on many fronts. I enjoyed the updated zandalari dungeons, i enjoyed about 95% of the original 5 mans in cata and for the most part the raiding was fun. (i'm not including the deathwing encounter in that) Firelands from what i've been able to clear i felt was brilliant. So say what you will, i myself will applaud blizzard on a job well done and piss on anyone who flames me for it.
This does explain why they nerfed stuff to begin with.
So basically blizzard is giving up on those who are unfortunate to have started the game in Lich King who are too lazy to try and progress past hard bosses and weren't trained on hard progression from the start. It's sad for those like me who started the game early, and also for those who play for the challenge of the game. That sense of challenge isn't really there any more... smh Blizzard
Even though I will probably never do a Firelands raid, I'm disagreeing with the decision being made here. While I understand that Blizzard wants people to see the content, I don't think that nerfing the content is the way to overcome this challenge.
Well, the nerf to 1 boss that 75% or more players would have never seen caused total outrage, I can't wait to see where this goes. My opinion, add another increasing buff like Hellscream's Warsong, so at least guilds can toggle it on and off.
TOO SOON! But in all seriousness though, I think the reason why we have these nerfs for content such as this is maybe to prepare people for the new raid finder? That's just my two cents, but at least tier 11 and tier 12 will be more accessible for more people and get that ready for Deathwing I guess. :)
