Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of World of Warcraft players around the world who purchased the Cenarion Hatchling pet, we’ve raised a total of more than $1.9 million USD to support the ongoing earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan. In May, we announced that for every Cenarion Hatchling purchased by July 31, 2011, 100% of the $10 USD adoption fee would be going to assist victims of this disaster -- and the community responded by opening up their hearts and wallets wide. Thanks again for your support and for helping to make an impact on the lives of those affected by these events.

Soo Blizz lost 900k subscribers? idont rly see that as much of a problem . Blizz actually got more money than before from store and stuff and in Vanilla there was much less ppl and it was fun becouse u knew the other ppl on ur server and ppl were having a fun time also ppl are saying that Cata sucks. why? becouse u dont get ur shiny armors too fast or u dont win most bgs/arenas u play? think about it when u get to ur match making to a stop ppl u are playing against are just as good as you and ur friends so u should lose half of the matches. And for PVErs out there u think raids are too hard? well in vanilla u could down the bosses but getting loot was diffrent as always like 5 ppl rolling on the stuff u need also, vanilla itemization was REALLY #$%^ty as PvP gear sucked. would u like to have the 2,2k wep to have 359 ilvl? me neither but in vanilla t2 was WAYYY better than the epic PvP set also if u were a priest ur tier gear was for healing if u were a warr ur tier was for tanking and then there were those items that had all of the stats that ur class needs like agi int spirit stam str when u didnt need half of them. oh and 1 more thing. resistance gears.WOLK was easy its a fact. And the problem that i hate most about wow now is that there are loads of trolls. seriously a new comer asks a guestion in trade chat=he gets roasted when there are less ppl they know each other better and dont troll as they know it will get ya a bad reputationSo stop trolling and enjoy the game as it is a challenge
It is just mho but cable and satelite subscriptions are down by record percentages as well. I think the economy is more of a factor than Wow content. Many subscriptions are paid by parents that will see monthly subscriptions as one of the first things to go with their budget cuts. Additionally, $15 a month may not seem like alot, but the cost of internet and a PC that runs a MMORPG is cost prohibitive these days as well. The free to play may also move the low casual players off of the cash flow sheets.
So... quit. Stop playing, there's plenty of other fish in the sea. Those games you claim 'lolz try to take wow down omg' are just trying to make business, save Rift who made it their slogan. You'd be amazed how many offer some surprisingly engaging gameplay and endgame.Nobody is forcing you to keep playing, ranting here, while probably a good vent of frustration isn't doing a whole lot of other good. Some of you seem very intelligent, but you fail to address the fact that you've been playing -the same game- for years, and at raid/endgame level, those systems get easy to recognize, and then you've figured out the effect a piece of gear will have on your character before you even put it on. Then you get bored of playing the number game. Some of you have been playing since launch, probably without any substantial breaks... why would you be surprised that you're bored now? I can almost guarantee you that if you step out into the genre of carrot-on-stick MMOs you will be bored to tears because, while WoW isn't the most complex, never has been... it's just the most familiar, and that is a detriment, and I have experienced it myself. If I could even get the game to download, I'd be using my 7 days to reconnect with some old guildies and check up on how they're doing. But... even that seems to be borked since I last played.I'll never understand why people who play this game will continue playing it after ranting in the various forums all day about how much of a horrible time they're having... I love reading my own typing too, but let's be reasonable. Complaining you're not enjoying the entirety of the game, then continuing to play it -most likely having fun at some points- kind of invalidates most of the ranting. But I digress, 5.7kb/s later, I think I'll close the downloader and do something else.Enjoy your Gloom and Doom WoWhead :)edited for edited for redundance
As for the subscription loses. Anyone who doesn't think this is anything but bad news, has no understanding of a business model. The fact that ActiBlizz is bouncing off it's 52 week low stock price is pretty much saying the market has lost confidence.
This comes as no surprise. Blizzard keeps upgrading the content without regard for the subscribers. Not everyone has super computers or can afford to keep up. One more upgrade like the last and I will be forced to drop off too. Some of my friends already have.
