The ban was unrelated to this, it was mostly because of two things:1) It's like once a week now our staff/volunteers/etc get pissed off because he's kind of "$%^&ting in our house". He has a bad attitude and if it was anyone else he would have been banned long ago - this is something that has been an issue for a couple years now. 2) Since we opened Wowhead News, he tends to get his news from us as we post it. This makes it a wee bit harder and he'll have to watch his RSS feeds instead of the channel bot.As for "editing the post after X had pointed it out". The post originally said we didn't believe it and it's likely a prank, but it was interesting, and it was all over twitter. We edited the post after WoW Insider mentioned they have a source inside of Blizzard that denied it. In general we try to separate our hunches and feelings from facts - we felt it was false, signs pointed to that, that's why we said it was "likely a prank", however we had no proof until WoW Insider stepped forward. Saying we were completely sure it was false would be misleading, and we'll leave that to other sites.Completely wrong place for ^^^ but felt like I should clear it up. Complete derail!1) I probably speak like ... once a month in the wowhead channel? Most of the time when someone pings me? If I have a bad attitude feel free to point it out, if a bad attitude is being pissed because a WoW fansite spreads insane rumors from a cheating site and because you have to deal with the consequences on your forum, that's another problem. I know any kind of attention is good when you're starting a news site but Wowhead has enough power to double check that kind of info and not post it. I mean, I've been in the channel for 4 years now, it shouldn't be that hard to find something terribly evil I've said. For users who wonder how it happened, that's the discussion before my ban: http://paste2.org/p/1501659 (and that was pretty tame considering that we were just done locking like ... 10 threads about the rumor) 2) The last time someone tried to claim that I get my news from wowhead, it was Malgayne on Reddit. I then proceeded to point out how Miyari copied one of my patch notes directly from my site because I'm a sneaky ^&*!@#$ and love to track that. See the post on reddit for yet another rant that didn't bring anything good. I'm still waiting for proofs that I copy all my stuff from wowhead, especially since wowheadnews is a few weeks old and I've been running a news site just fine without you guys to help me with my content for 4 years and a half now. 3) I apologize to users for the drama, it really wasn't the point, but I assumed the post deserved an answer.
I'm glad this is though. "The Void" reminds me too much of "The Swarm" or whatever it was called from Halo, which was a terrible, terrible villain. Blizz has done too good of a job lately on their bad guys to revert to some nameless, faceless, lore-less generic hive mind. WoW needs villains with outsize personalities like Illidan or Arthas. I would like to see the Burning Legion come back into play someday, but not like this.
Actually, I am going to go ahead and lock this. This is only the second or third blog post being locked, which should make the weight of the issue self-evident. I know there have been more than a few accusations flying around, and I hope if you've sent one of them, you'll think twice before derailing threads in the future - it's not only annoying, it's making you look bad too. I am going to make another thread - a normal forum one - for those of you who wish to continue discussing the contents of the leak, as well as possibilities for this year's BlizzCon's big announcement and/or WoW's next expansion. You can see it here.
