I'm really confused as to why blizzard decided to do this in the first place. Bashiok says that it takes up storage space and UI space from us. The storage space was allotted SPECIFICALLY for keys, and players automatically got the keyring anyways. So no, it doesn't take up any more storage space we just got free key space. UI space? I don't know about the rest of the players, but I personally don't run around with my keyring open (in fact, most of the time I have the keyring disabled through bartender) but even if the icon was shown, the image is probably no bigger than 15x45px. You want to start clearing up UI space? Start with those massive honkin' gryphons on either end of the action bar. Don't take out a feature that worked fine, and then take up my bag space.
And most of them will probably end up vanishing when the patch hits.
Didn't see the update; but even then, most of those keys you can trash, or just go and open up the chests to get them out as well. As for the Ethereum ones, go open the prisons or turn in for the key needed for the special cage in H Mana Tombs.
Really? You guys are complaining about keys? I can understand the concern about bag space and dungeons--my own 'smith is going to have skeleton keys coming out her ears when this change happens--but come on. Maybe its time to step back if you're having sentimental issues about virtual things that don't even have in-game models or anything beyond a tiny little image and a blurb of text. QQ more. And to whoever was saying it's impossible to enter Karazhan without the key, its actually painfully simple to do if you don't mind a tiny bit of durability loss. Just kill yourself right outside, resurrect inside the gate, enter the raid, profit.
For those now thinking of rushing out and vendoring/trashing keys - with the Ethereum Keys, you may wish to consider popping these on the Ah. They are great for Consortium rep and sell well to the rep grinders.
Making room for new features my rear. The Encounter Journal takes up more space on the menu bar (wasn't it initially supposed to be integrated into the maps?), but they also added a 'Raid' button to the menu bar which gave the final shove and pushed our Keyring off. Best part? The Raid button is exactly the same as our Social button, except it opens to the raid tab instead of the Friend's List.So we have:
How bout using this to store our ever growing tabard collection
I was really scared when I read this, but then it turned out I can keep my precious Jump-a-Tron 4000 Key :D at least, I hope it won't disappear as I already finished the quest. It's a shame though, all those keys carry a lot of memories :(
I'm actually kinda saddened by this news. While not something I used that often (more often than not I have it hidden in my UI), its been something that I've had since day one of my starting this game, and it'll be strange to see it gone.Ah, well...
how about stop worrying about stupid $%^& like keys blizz and do something with tabards i need some bank space
Ugh. So no Keymaster FoS for the efforts we originally put towards collecting these things to begin with and now the keyring is disappearing.. thanks... nothing to show for our efforts.
