Blizz has said that its been 5 years since the beginning of Vanilla and at the beginning of Vanilla Nozdormu was gone and its really obvious that Staghelm still has power from the nightmare because he still frigging INSANE, staghelm was a great man but the nightmare took him and will never let go thats why he was being watched if he had been cleansed then he would have been helping Malfurion and Runetotem with healing the World Tree and kickin some Twighlight Hammer ass.
OK, just for the sake of argument let's just squeeze the story in and say it is ok. The issue i have the most is that it is too much of a star crossed love story with intermittent fighting in quests. The story at best seemes shallow in all regards eccept this love story. There are too many issues with how Thrall ends up being taken by so little.Tthe idea of what happens to him is good but not well thought out. The quest like seems to run well from point to point but le'ts not forget most of your players are ... GUYS! ... HELLO? Is this thing on? It seems like we took a trip in to the failed love story of Anikin Skywalker and Padme QQ....... OH! and btw lets do some questing along the way to save the most powerfull stooge in the world. At the very least there should have been an epic battle in hyjal when Thrall is taken by suprise and just b**** slapped in what, less that 2 seconds. Cmon? Thrall has always been well, more. Don't get me wrong even I can apreciate a good love story but the action for the story itself seems to alude me.
If I were Blizzard, I would fire the acting director for this piece of "work". Never in my life have I heard such bland, bored, emotionless voice acting. Malfurion upon realizing Fandral's betrayal? He sounds sleepy. Not even angry at what Fandral is doing and has done not only to the hopes of Azeroth, but of fellow druids. Almost glad he decided to go to Moonglade himself rather than dispatch a messenger and try to pursue Fandral, which would've made sense and made him seem proactive. Aggra? Bored. Can't even scrape up some anger that the love of her life's spirit has been literally torn into different pieces. And she's supposed to be the "fiery" and snarky one in comparison to Thrall's calm and patience, according to this quest line. She's so soft spoken and lacking inflection in her words (NOT how an orc woman should sound) that I don't even know what she's supposed to be feeling from her dialogue. Is there ANY woman besides Therazane that doesn't have the Marylin Monroe "baby voice" going on?None of the Aspects, Tyrande (who has been co-ruling Darnassus with Fandral and butting heads with him for years doesn't even pipe up once) or any of the other major world leaders even have a word to say when one of their own turns traitor. Fandral at least tries to sound like a Smug Snake and hams it up. He comes across painfully arrogant and smarmy like he should. The dialogue in the quest is full of narm and enough cheese to keep a rat colony fed for years. But thats fantasy for you. However, good voice acting would've at least tried to sell us the emotions and tension of this quest line, and it didn't. There wasn't even a pitch being made. Blizz, your heroes are allowed to have emotions, too. Make them ham it up like the villains in the troll dungeons and you'd have a much more enjoyable experience. That aside, echoing the disappointment about just how lackluster the quest chain is. For what is supposed to be an in-depth exploration about the feelings and emotions of one of, if not the most important character in Warcraft to date, they sure as hell skimped on the effort. Not only that, forcing your heroes and major good guys hold the idiot ball like they did really diminishes them AND makes them look incompetent. C'mon, you could've come up with a more convincing scenario than Fandral and a handful of druids suppressing The Council of the Ring for Azeroth while they tore Thrall's spirit apart. It also would've been a nice touch to have some of the good guys show up and maybe plead the cause to the elements for releasing Thrall's spirit. You know, show a bit of solidarity among the forces of good and make them seem a little bit concerned that the one hope of Azeroth's survival being compromised. Maybe have them show up and help you fight some super big baddies that the Twilight's Hammer throws at you (which would make the villains seem like they care about keeping Thrall disembodied, rather than just leaving him unguarded except by a bunch of elementals). There's a lot of ways that more story could've been integrated into this quest line to balance out the romance and made it not only more epic, but more engaging and a good way of characterizing both the good guys and bad guys, which is the main point of quest chains like these.
Meh, I don't see any weaknesses in the story telling. The ability of what we suspect are weaker foes to overwhelm heroes is a recuring theme in all good-vs-bad stories. Lets not forget though that Deathwing is still a pretty powerful foe even with dimished powers at the loss of his demon soul. It took the combined effort of all of the aspects and some of the same heroes in this cut scene to bring him down way back when. We don't really know what he has done to Fandral. But if we can be expected to save him (Thrall) when the Aspects could not then why couldn't Fandral catch them off guard. Finally, who is to say that Nozdormu didn't know about the ambush and his fate. He selectively approves of alterations in the continuum if he sees fit, but perhaps he felt it appropriate to let this continue on its own path. Or whatever forces he is fighting when he is gone so much of our present time line might be weakening and/or corrupting him to a point where his judgement and/or vision is clouded. This can all be explained in any number of ways... so, I guess what I propose is: enjoy it for what it is. There is insanely more lore availablle than most people expect for a universe and there will always be gotchas as our Red shirt friend and his ilk are sure to point out.Peace!
Keep in mind that the people that Jaina dates.... end up dying...
Anyone but me who noticed that new high elf form model of Nozdormu? It looks so awesome :o
It was epic.....but VERY short.....TOO SHOOORT!
This questline is impossible to complete on my server,a single guy flags PvP and suddenly everyone is fighting, cast avenger's shield and get banged out by over 9000 horde.
