I'm sure this will have been mentioned more than once on here, but isn't this hugely unfair to those of us who play DPS classes/roles? I for one do not like or enjoy playing a tank or a healer. I'm not very good at it, and therefore I choose not to do it because I don't enjoy it and it is also unfair to force people in pugs to put up with my poor attempts to keep them alive or hold aggro. I'm a good enough DPS-er, and I enjoy that, which means I play that. Others really enjoy playing a tank or a healer, and good for them as they are important roles, but why should that mean they get something special when I, and other dps players, do not?People were tanking and healing before this came along, why should they be given a reward for doing so and the dps players left out, so to speak?
i have a qeusting for blizzard can you guys add the old models of ZA and ZG to the bag elsewell would be nice.
If people want tanks so badly, they should just go here
Err, I've geared all 3...getting geared on a tank or healer is faster and easier just due to the queue times in my opinion. Also, there's a chance a deeps might roll against you as a tank or healer, but imo a higher chance that someone will be rolling against you when rolling on dps gear...you've got the other dps and possible the tank and/or healer rolling against you. This system is as fair as it can get right now. When the bag was bop yes it was unfair (I still wasn't complaining but it WAS unfair there is no justification you could make, the only legit arguement was whether the unfairness was worth the intended result and it still probably would have been.) however, now...as long as you are willing to be a part of the solution you can reap the reward. Leveling is so easy right now, just roll a tank, get to 15, dungeon crawl to 85...do more dungeon crawl for gear...profit!
I still think it's a stupid idea to do this. Tanks and Healers already seem to have a superiority issue in the community, now they're just rewarding the plain spite they have towards DPS classes. Especially pure DPS such as Mages, Rogues, or Warlocks.I don't want to have to level a healer or tank in order to give my main a shot at earning something from these bags, and I shouldn't think any role should be put on a pedestal over any over role in a group. It's called a group because it takes everyone to accomplish a goal. No person should have better rewards than anyone else just because they're less of them.
"Think of the solution, not the problem."-ZeddMan, I'm on a damn roll. Zedd quotes are pretty good for use in real world applications.
Oh, I wouldn't entirely blame the lack of tanks and healers on either the added responsibility or the blame games played in dungeons...sure that is a part of why there has always been more dps to tanks and healers looking to pug. Part of the reason this issue has exploded in cata is that they massively changed and homogenized tanking and healing and a whole lot of people previously willing to tank and/or heal pugs didn't like the new mechanics at all. Some didn't like the harder instances, some didn't like changes made to their classes, some didn't like the game itself on any level and left. I think of all the reasons the ones least responsible for the shortage of tanks and healers in lfd is the blame games or responsibility issues because those issues have been present since the beginning, and while tanks and heals have always been in demand I think they are MORE in demand now than they were for at least the last year or so (I didn't resub til around 6 months ago, so for half of that I'm going off what friends have told me, if I'm wrong I apologize :) )
The effects of this change can be predicted easily:On one hand, more good tanks and healers will queue because of the bag even when they need nothing from the heroics. On the other hand, more god-awful noobs in dps gear will queue as tank or healer because tanks and healers get more, and Blizzards lovely vote to kick system makes sure that you either suffer or stay out of RDF for half an hour.
Oh good... I get to heal even more PVP-geared DKs trying to tank heroics. Fun times.
I can see this idea backfiring. Queue times might get reduced, but say you get a bad tank or healer and a wipefest ensues...tank leaves...you get another bad tank, etc. Sure, this happens NOW, but with the extra carrot dangling in the faces of would-be tanks and healers you now have a bunch of new players trying to tank or heal encounters they've only done from a DPS perspective. sure, you could get skilled puggers, but you could also get a long string of fails, turing a 1 hour pug into a 3 hour one. And even then....no extra reward for DPS and their patience.
