Very interesting...I'm going to wait until the patch comes out and I use the feature before I form an opinion. I think this could go either way (either suck or be awesome).
A quick reminder to those complaining that the DPS are getting passed over for the rewards...do keep in mind that this IS helping us by reducing our absurd que times. Remember that none of these mounts/pets will be exclusive to the CtA, so it's not like you Rogues and Hunters will NEVER get your hands on them. If this finally means that I can que for dungeons without having to spend 30 minutes killing time for a group that may or may not work out, I can live with throwing a few bribes at the tanks/healers.
Honestly, I'm really tired of the "OMG tanks have instant queues!" whining. Sure, they don't have to wait 45 min to get into a group. They just have to spend an hour or more dragging retards on pogo sticks without enough sense to not stand in fire through content so those same morons can ninja every piece of loot they can; while also being blamed for every mistake not blamed on the healer. Yes, I know there are good DPS players out there. I know a good number of them. But since this is about soloing queue, let's look at that. The reason tanks have little to no queue is that there is so few of them. This system is supposed to help by providing rewards for taking the least desired roles. It's not going to work, though, because the rewards aren't enough to get tanks who know their jobs out of guild/pre-made groups and into solo queue. I, for one, don't like pugging one DPS, never mind the entire rest of the group. For every one DPS who knows their job and basic mechanics (like threat and fire), there are at least a dozen more who troll a group the entire time or just auto follow someone and wait for loot. A slim chance at something I might want is not enough to get me to drudge in that again and again.
I think this could work out. If the notification that an active Call to Arms is visible enough, tanks might consider queueing more often just to get a shot at the pets and mounts. DPS would get a slightly quicker queue time, and everyone plays and gears. Fun for all. Here's the thing, though: what happens when all the tanks gather up every vanity pet and mount that can possibly drop from this system? To be honest, gold is not very important these days, and dropping a rare gem when they're already geared or a flask when they already have a bunch isn't doing much for them. The real draw here are the rare items that are difficult to acquire through other means, and once those have been acquired, what's the reason to answer a Call to Arms?
The biggest thing this is going to do is bring in more bad tanks...I myself have experience many a bad tank which caused me to start tanking, I prefer to dps but I tank because I like to be in control. Now today in H ToT I had a tank who bought all his tank gear and wanted to impress his wife by shouting commands such as "the green stuff is not candy" but then he would tank in it, same goes for the 2nd boss with the black goo. What this will do is punish the dps for not rolling a more desired class then punish them even more when they get a bad group and end up wiping on trash
I predict many wipes on Ozruk!I think it's coming from a place of good intent, can't fault them for tryin...not sure if it will work or not, suppose we'll see soon enough :)Guess I'll have to pull out the tank set a little more often even though I really dislike tanking randoms and usually won't..I'm a healer but I don't think heals will be getting any goodie bags. Also if this lowers queue times enough that I can get a run in on my hunter I will do a lil happy dance! I can solo mgt, sethekk, etc for mounts...I need orbs and gear and jp/vp that are being an overly painful experience on a pure dps toon right now (I have 0 patience for queues over 15 min)
so, Tanks and Healers get goodie bags while DPS get less wait time?
To fix the ridiculous dps queue time, why not just make 6 man dungeons? Imo that would sit much better with the community.
Hi guys! I queued as a tank because the CtA today was for tanks! But I have no tank spec LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLProblem?
This is bull$%^&. What the &*!@, I thought the LFD system was just a way to help people finding groups, not helping them finding groups AND rewarding them superrare mounts and &*!@? Remember the times you had to spam trade for people? Now you have a tool doing it for you at the same time it is helping you obtain rare items, if you are a $%^&ing tank or healer. Most unfair and #$%^ed up system ever. Reward lazy people even further.
At first I was like:0_oThen I was like:^.^Because:Many tanks/ healz that que because of said "call to arms" = eventually needing a call to arms for DPS which then means:Epic Loot AND balanced dungeon system!:D
Really not a fan of this. Let me illustrate why: I have a decent offspec tank set (359 or so).I can't tank.I am a healer who goes ret. I have been prot for one week in my life and that was when the Pug pet came out and I wanted to get it done with. So that was over a year ago. An expansion ago, even.I have also been farming Sethekk for, let's see, over 4 months worth of resets. It's about 150-170 now, I forgot. So if I can get a free goodie bag for queueing as tank, but can't get it as a healer or Ret, I'm gonna queue. And people will get a tank who has no idea of any of the pulls and who doesn't know any of a prot paladin's Cata abilities.Luckily I learn quick and I'm not that mean--if I wipe the group, I'll probably leave. But how many people will be like me, only less considerate? I foresee a lot of Ret tanks, Druids in bad sets, and a DPS warrior who wants to tank ZA/ZG because he'll get a free bag of stuff for it.I also think I'm one of the luckier ones. I'm not a tank but I can tank and I do have a good set of gear. Plus healers could be in demand. It is unfair to DPS who can't switch over but would. Surely there are better ways to fix queue times without this.I mean, I get Blizzard has their hearts in the right place here--and I also get DPS are getting lower queue times. But it's still unfair to good DPS who don't get a reward for doing their part. An amazing CC or someone who out dpses everyone else 2:1 in their group because they try hard deserves that bag just as much as a tank/healer.
Hope it works. Otherwise it will be unfair on the pure dps classes.
Awesome, now tanks will wait if there is no Calls To Arms for them :D, and even better, I have 2 tanks!
