I can't believe out of that whole list of things to like/or be ambivalent about, that this was the item that grabbed me and made me happy! Perhaps I wouldn't have deleted a bunch of 80 alts I have no intention of playing soon, but had maxed profs...I am so hyped about the character order on the select screen. You have NO IDEA.^^
The nice thing about DBM....you can turn it off....Look, if you feel the need to flex your e-peen just that little extra bit..don't run it. If your guild requires it..find another guild or make your own and DON'T ALLOW it. Heck, make some video's of your awesomeness in action and post em for all the world to see. But for the other 99.8% of us out here, DBM makes the game much more enjoyable for us because we can actually keep track of things without having to assign people to run stopwatches for us....and we get to enjoy encounters that are more than just tank'n'spank DPS checks. I personally dont want to see end game raids being limited to Patchwerk type encounters. And without automated timers (really, thats all DBM is), thats all you would see. And on a side note, the fact that you, or a friend, have completed something like Heroic LK without DBM means little to nothing if ANYONE in the raid was running it at the time. If you have someone running it, they are just calling out events for you, rather than you seeing them on your screen. If you wanna impress us, lets see some videos of you taking down some progression bosses with no one in the raid running DBM, and no communication program either.
Meuh, by now I've grown so used to the order of my toons that I can select them with my eyes closed. Being able to rearrange them would've been nice, say 2-3 years ago. Now I don't really prefer having to get used to a new order of my toons anymore. ;)As for AH mail, just get an addon like EasyMail. You can checkbox which mail you want to get gold/attachments from with an additional 'check all' button.I'm very enthusiastic about the plans to change tabards to no longer use item slots.. my main has a lot of rare tabards that aren't easily buyable from a tabard vendor, and it's taking up far too much space.(reCaptcha: suche Iroman... if I were that German guy, I'd rather search for the missing 'n'..... :p )
So much hate...
We are taking baby steps in that direction. We already allow you to move the focus target, and in the 4.1 patch we will let you move your player frame (your health and resource bar) and your target frame as well. We also allow quite a bit of customization of size and position with the party and raid frames. If you consider what the screen looks like with every possible UI element turned on at once (including things like the durability dummy and Arena team frames) there is almost no space left to actually see the world. If we allow players to start moving every element around, it would be very easy to stack elements on top of each other and obscure information. More hardcore players probably understand this risk and how to fix things if they break the UI for themselves. The challenge for us is making sure that players who really shouldn’t be messing with their UI don’t stumble into it. If you aren’t in the game industry (or maybe even the software industry at large) you might think it’s as simple as burying the check box deep in the options or adding a big, red “I screwed up! Please reset me!” button. But we can assure you that it’s not.So they are saying that.. ehm.. if someone put some form of cloth over the keys on a table (overlapping frames), that person is to stupid to lift up the cloth to find the keys? Hmm, wonder how someone would "stumble" in to something like "User Interface -> Move your frames"? also a reset UI button isn't possible? Wow.. the ui really needs a complete overhaul, if blizz is goin to do that sometime, they should keep in mind, not use glue on the frames.Tho I am happy over character sorting feature :) ( Why not 4.1? :( )
Hm. Page 3 of the thread broke.Some people play the game, some people let add-ons play them.Mhmm...The nice thing about DBM....you can turn it off....Already did.
Me TOO.Me 3 !
sure, in a perfect world. this is world of warcraft, a place where you have a two second window to notice lich king is casting defile on you and at the same time successfully navigate away from your fellow 24 raiders while at the same time manage flying white women trying to drop you off of a icey platform, oh, and also maximising your role, all at the same time. some of us find it REALLY convenient that an addon tells us that perhaps we should be doing something special.Implying raiding with other people was easier in TBCWoW has built in messages that say this sort of stuff, you know. They just don't tell you as specifically. I know people who have done Lich King 10 man Heroic and 25 man normal without DBM, he hates the thing. It isn't impossible to raid without it.I dont even understand the problem here. Some people really do need DBM to manage in raids. I have been raiding with some people who, despite clear instructions and DBM, are having trouble. But thats just the way it is, no use complaining about something that helps a lot of people. You dont like it? Are there people trying to force you to use it? If not, I think I see a way out of this.
Letting you re-sort character list at login would be a GREAT idea, especially with my play style. I like to have alts listed in the order I created them, as I tend to think of them as a family grouping (maybe a big adoptive family grouping), and usually play them so that their levels stay in the same order I created them. Would also help having character you are focusing on leveling at top of stack, or any other sort mechanism that is meaningful to a player.
Why require you to collect bear asses instead of just incrementing the bear asses counter?Read through this a second time, after geeking out over the character reorganizer bit...Just made me thing of:bearAsses = bearAsses + 1;
I don't understand the complaint about DBM "predicting" boss abilities. If an ability is on a set timer it is only because the encounter designer specified it that way. He or she did so with the full understanding that players will become aware of this schedule.For the small handful of players that really prefer figuring everything out themselves, nothing is preventing them from not browsing websites, not installing DBM, and doing the 10x extra work to discover every mechanic on their own.For the vast majority that just prefer to play the encounter, someone is going to have to provide the required information and frankly the DBM timer bar in game seems a lot more reasonable and less immersion breaking than tab-outs to external websites, listening to countdowns on vent, using your own stopwatch, etc.
Actually I do.It's become virtually mandatory to have that addon in a raid setting it seems (or a similar one).But in addition to that, DBM and similar addons can forecast when abilities go off. The timers and the addon's ability to predict when X ability and Y ability are going to happen does seem over the top.Literally, a friend of mine mentioned it would not be possible to do Lich King Heroic without addons. He was relying on the timer for Infest and the like. It was ridiculous.Addon reliance is another problem in itself, but I won't get into it here.Right so what your saying is, is that its the addons fault but its not i used to dps LK fine without DBM or w/ei use it a little now because im not used to the fights in cata but what im getting at is just because someone else is using it doesn't mean you have to it's their personal choice if your against it fine but dont make it so it prohibits other players from using it
I am so hyped about the character order on the select screen. You have NO IDEA.Good lord, same! FINALLY!Really? Why would anyone ever need this? What am I missing...I'm most looking forward to the dye system and anything else involving the development of character customization.
