Achievements and now this? You guys are on a downward slope...
I can't wait till its available to premium without enabling ads. I use meebo on my iPod all the time.
Argent, you are expecting way too much out of people; complainers like that need to hide behind their sweeping accusations to feel better about themselves.
Suggestion, make it darker please, as it is, its kind of annoying. I like Wowhead because of its easy on the eyes theme, but the bar kinda messes with that. I'm used to the bottom of my browser being dark, if it were, I'd not have it hidden all the time.
It's too annoying, sorry. I used adblock to get rid of it.
Honestly when I first saw it popup my first thought was that I had somehow managed to contract some spyware (despite being in Chrome, AV up and doing nothing that would lead to such an infestation) and had to google "wowhead meebo" to figure it out. Three immediate suggestions/critiques.1. Ads extend beyond the confines of the bar itself. At this time a guy (girl?)'s head is sticking out of the top of the bar and into the content. It isn't big, but it covers up some of the page that the rest of the bar doesn't. Maybe I'm just OCD but it is very offputting.2. The chat connect thing on the right is covered up by the bar coming from the left (running 1200x800 on a 15.1" laptop screen)3 Feature Suggestion: Disable some portions of the bar. The links to profiler, ZAM and Separate buttons for sharing ('Share Page', "Digg This", "Stumble It!") are superfluous to me. I am sure other users like the ones I don't and vice versa. Also, possible lumping all the different sharing options into one button (perhaps expanding out so you can pick the icon of the particular service) would be nice.I just hit "Share Page" and it has you go through the Meebo chat (after an obnoxious hook to change the mouse cursor) instead of the reasonable expectation (that it prompt me how I want to ). This just exaggerates the need to be able to customize the bar.4. Addition: Ability to search wowhead from the bar. It isn't hard to scroll up and type into the search box (well, besides the fact that the user menu pops down on mouseover, so when you go to click the search box you are about as likely to end up at your user page if you moused up to far and have to come down) but if its there, might as well use it.--Edit:Okay, I just noticed something that made my blood star to boil. When you highlight any text it does not stay highlighted. Instead, the highlight (you know, the blue overlay) disappears and you can click on a brand new meebo button to 'share' it. There are two problems with this:1. I personally highlight text as I read, as a way to mark where I am. This is great for walls of text, and for keeping your spot if you scroll and want to come back. I realize that I may be the only person that does this, but to have that removed is (closer to literally than I'd care to admit), frankly, infuriating. This cannot be avoided by minimizing the bar. It still takes over when the bar is minimized.2. More importantly. This disables the ability to copy the text. Ever been in a PUG and wanted to copy one of the short comments explaining a fight for your new tank/healer? Too bad. There are comments that have been specifically written so they could be copy pasted without breaking in-game chat restraints and this change nullifies them.--I hate to rage. I hate to whine. Moreover, I hate to posture and threaten. However, because of the text-highlighting change I am forced to go back to ad-blocking on wowhead (I'll try to just block the bar but might have to 'napalm the jungle' if I can't get it individually blocked); as soon as that's fixed I'm back! :D
UrrrrrAm I the only one having problems actually finding the thing?i don't have Premium, so it's not that. It just doesn't actually appear anywhere. (Forums and database, just in case it wasn't in one of them but in the other instead)
Only thing i dislike about it is that it takes maybe 5-7 seconds for it to load and it makes my internet laggy when it does. Or maybe this is just purely a internet issue and not an issue with it.
Uhmmm. Is it possible it's blocking Meebo and not Wowhead?I don't really use an ad-block, certainly not for Wowhead.ie, it doesn't block any of the ads on here
Hey guys, Love the idea but it causes a lot of lag on my PC (Im not direct conected to the internet, and for some reason it locks up easy.) Is it possible for me to turn it off?
So wait, is this replacing ads that appear on every Wowhead page or just adding to them? If users are going to have ads at both the top and bottom of every page, I think they'll be even more inclined to use AdBlock.
First thing I thought when I saw it was spyware on my browser. The entire bar is useless to me. All the wowhead links on it are still easily accessible by hitting "home" on my keyboard and going to it the usual way. I have absolutely no interest in the social media features. My thoughts:1) Please add an option to turn it off completely in user account controls.. The minimize feature is nice, but I don't even want it loading when I come to wowhead. 2) Skin it to match the wowhead theme. 3) Can no longer copy and paste text, or use text highlighting as a place marker. This is an annoyance that could turn into a deal breaker.4) Add a wowhead search box to it (can't hurt, and adds utility).I've been a wowhead user for years. Never once have I been worried about any change wowhead brought about, from the ZAM purchase to the achievements. This one however actually worries me. It "cheapens" the site in some ways, mostly because I hate social media. I understand its usefulness/utility, but have never liked its tacky and amateur execution across the web. The way youtube handles sharing is one way that I actually like, because its is never in the way and you never notice it until you need it, and at that moment its exactly where you want it to be.
The bar seems to be nothing but advertising for a site already so well designed as Wowhead. The benefits of the meebo bar, as best I can tell, are increased ad revenue by adding a new place for ads, as well as easier site navigation. The problem is that Wowhead's site navigation is already stellar, with links to everywhere you could possibly want to go on every single page in a neatly organized manner. The purpose is thus defeated, and the bar serves no purpose other than to advertise. For this reason, it is nothing but a nuisance.I would like an option to completely disable it available to all members; sidebar ads are one thing, but this bar seizes control over copy and paste functionality and follows you around the screen as an overlay; I find it far too intrusive to have its removal become a perk of a Premium registration.
I still have the feeling it slows everything down. This Wowhead page is really slow for me now, and typing this comment somehow feel sluggish. Seems just like more advertisement to me, but in a very annoying way.If this thing sticks, I'm going to get an adblocker to get rid of it.
