Tomorrow is the open beta! Can't wait >.<
TL;DR - - Pre Ordered Rift- Will replace Wow subscription fees for Rift- Dynamic content and class/profession are the positive drivers to Rift- Community and instabilities in Wow play is why I would cut.More explanation: Only because you folks (ZAM) asked....Already preordered Rift. I plan to play it hard core it for a few months and if I decide to keep the subscription - if so -- I will be deactivating my wow account. I do not think I am that much different than most folks.Trion has worked exceedingly hard to listen to players - make recommended changes that made sense fast - provide a high degree of polish for a game that shows what 5 years of disciplined design and programming can do. Their response has been best in class in virtually every measurable respect. I really tip my hat to Trion management. The pull is the dynamic content event systems - and the production of a game that keeps me moving and playing even when I am not raiding. The reward system is good - It encourages me and others to play together rather than getting wrapped around the axle on spawn camping. The flexibility in play style and designing your build is a real treat - and provides for tons of creativity - and *almost* eliminates need for alts. Also - almost never a way to be bored with your toon. It also appeals to the min/max side of me - because I can endlessly experiment - and I like figuring things out on my own.The community (and its management and examples set by Trion) is one of the better I have seen. Why would I displace wow? Its the community that puts me off. Wow as a community feels like its eating its own young - and this behavior is further amplified by its managers. Also - Wow appears to me (just my pov) suffering from building too much on the same platform - and balance issues and knee jerk hot fixes abound. This makes play for me difficult and very un-fun.Rift - (from what I have seen) has implemented things that is pushing the Genre forward - with the familiarity needed to allow folks to ease into it. No - its not radically different - but its different enough to make a positive impression in the MMO space. I would put it up with Guild Wars and EVE in that regard.
hey mike what server you gonna be on?
