Why is it that people keep saying LFD groups are useless? i do my random HC every day, only rarely with anyone from my guild, and never with a full guild group, yet we still manage to get through just fine.To be fair, I'm a tank, and consider me to be quite a good one, and I experienced the wonderful challenge that was tBC HC's, so i probably play quite a big role in pulling the group up, but still.I've had groups where I didn't even have to mark the mobs, people simply knew what to CC, and figured out who did what between them.I've had groups where we chatted and had fun, even while wiping the third time on a boss none of us had tried before (Third boss in Stonecore HC - took us a bit to figure out that you can outrange the Shatter). For me, the only bad thing about LFD is, that I probably wont meet many of those players again, and that saddens me, cause there's some mighty good players around my BG.(for anyone interested, my BG is Cyclone/Whivelsturm - EU, and you are welcome to join the awesomness :))
My Paladin tank has an average iLvl of 336 right now. I've run a handful of random dungeons and heroics (admittedly, always with at least one other guildie present, and not counting all-guild 'random' runs). I have yet to see the, "People won't communicate in LFD" attitude.Granted, that could just be good luck on my part, but so far I've yet to run into a situation where a simple, "<Random toon>, CC star please," didn't result in appropriate CC.Have I wiped on heroics? Yup, a lot. Last night, I wiped 3 times in heroic Deadmines. But I didn't find it frustrating. I just assume it's going to be part of the learning curve for the more difficult content. And for those complaining about heroics? I wouldn't even think about stepping into a raid at this point. Our guild decided to go in and take a poke at the trash in Blackwing Descent last night. We downed the first trash pull on the way to Magmaw without a problem. It took us about 7 wipes to down the second trash pull (with the two Drakonic Drudges). But we still had fun.* If it had become frustrating, we would've quit, but we laughed and joked our way through it, and when we downed a simple trash pull, it felt like a pretty nice accomplishment. Then we went and got chewed on by Magmaw for a few attempts, and called it a night. *Much hilarity ensued due to Magmaw's overly-massive hit box and a right-click happy Hunter. Gotta love right-click auto shot, and hearing someone say, "Uh, guys, I think Magmaw's attacking us for some reason..."
So no mention of why we have to do the identical trash pulls 10-20 times in all but maybe two instances. Okay. At least with more gear it's speeding up a LITTLE bit. But I was hopeful they'd say "after the changes to Deadmines trash we realized we kept all of the fun and shaved a lot of wasted time off the dungeon, so we're going to keep doing that." No such luck.
I started my first character, a druid, as Resto spec mid-BC and leveled to 43 as Resto. I love healing, and only went Boomkin because a friend showed me how much faster I could kill quest mobs. When dual spec came out, Resto returned as one of my specs. My primary alt has been a healing Disc priest.Since Cata came out, I have not healed anything except a Weekly Naxx raid run, and that was with my level 85 druid.I have seen the difficulty well-geared, competent healers have had trying to keep up with the damage done in Heroics. I have no desire to give myself that kind of stress on top of my Real Life (tm). Getting into healing WotLK Heroics was bad enough.I am still playing the game regularly, but I am alternating between questing, farming mats for profs and leveling a worgen hunter. I haven't quit, but I have quit healing. I am sure I am not alone. Not a QQ, I do still love the game, but I am very glad they are toning down some of the crazier encounters in the upcoming patch.
I love it. I love the fact that WoW has gone back to early BC times. I want the game to be "hard", I don't want to ding 85 and start steamrolling through Heroics. I want to mark mobs pre-pull for sheep, sap, hex, repentance, banish because if i don't we're going to get roflstompt. I love that people are QQ'ing because it's "hard". That's how it should be, hard, it's a game, it's new content, go play Doom 3 or Far Cry and activate God mode if you want easy.My .02Edit: I find healing hard as #*%$ and I love it. I love having to use my cd's and knowing when to use them.
This is an interesting and well-written long post on the subject by GC; I do admit to having one question - WHY was WOTLK heroic content tuned to be so easy, and nerfed more from there, rather than left as it or even tuned harder a bit?
Heroics should require you to complete the regular version of the dungeon imo. The fights are more forgiving and you can learn the majority of mechanics before moving on to heroics You almost have to run regs anyway to get gear for heroics. When i was still gearing up for heroics I ran every dungeon on regular at least once except throne of tides. This made it a lot easier to go into a heroic and know what mobs to cc, how to fight the bosses, and so on. I try to run with my guildies most of the time but usually it is just me and my hunter friend using the dungeon finder. 4 out of 5 times we get the runs completed though. For those complaining about pugs through the dungeon finder, why not try to pug through your server like before the dungeon finder was released, or if you dont want to do that then try to actually talk in the random pugs. Dungeons are a group ordeal, going into one with a solo mentality is not the best way to get them done. Frankly I like the difficulty of heroics, but like some have said it is annoying when I can only play a few hours on most days and I only have time for 1 run. This bit is just something i want to throw out there. If you dont want to get into a guild to raid and socialize with people, whats the overall point of getting gear from heroics for yourself? Yea i like having shiny armor too but I want to be able to get somewhere with it. And there is really no excuse for not being able to find a guild. It may take longer to find the right guild for you then it will for others but thats the only way to get into raiding.
There are a couple of things going on and why this appears to be painful for a lot of players:
Don't nerf the heroics, they are challenging and fun! I spent 4 hours last night with guildies clearing heroic deadmines. Now we're not the most hardcore and taltented bunch, but guess what: We're geared for heroics, we know how to play our classes, and we put in the time and effort and patience required. In the end it was rewarding and fun. Next time we'll clear it in half the time, and the next time after that we'll probably run through it in an hour.that's the way it goes. Do the normals, gear up, get your reps up and get geared. Don't expect everything to be handed to you for free.
I think dungeon things should not be hard. Its easy named looking. And so. No cc will hopefull be needed soon. Normal easyneess is quite good.So my point is make them easyer.
