Is this really a surprise? I mean, really? The only thing that's changing is, well, EVERYTHING.If you're new to WoW this is pretty much on par. The veterans, like myself, are used to it. Go read a book. Take a walk. Talk to a friend. Do. Something. Else. There is a real world around you. :)Plus I'm stuck at work for several more hours. ^ ^
It seems that I have downloaded only 27 MB but there might be more after the maintenance done. The log in screen looks awesome with ultra settings. The opening movie for Cataclysm is also good.Looking forward for December 7th. :)Question: I am not exactly sure what is "Azeroth Reborn" as said in quote in breaking news. I am guessing they will apply the revamp of Azeroth from the 4.0.3a patch?
Deathwing put on a couple of pounds before he took off, now he's stuck in the hole. It'll take a bit to open it up so he can continue to unleash fiery wrath. After that, he's hitting the gym (damn Thanksgiving).
The patch was so small because the shattering content was included in the previous (huge) patch. Today's download was just the opening cinematic, apparently.I don't think most people are angry because we absolutely must play this instant and are afraid to go outside or do anything but play wow. I am angry because Blizzard knew that the servers would be down long past 11 am, but chose to lie to us. I knew the servers would be down past 11; everybody in this forum knew they'd be down. So no one can say that Blizzard was taken by surprise. The dishonesty is what angers me. It's a cynical thing they're doing: it's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission. Rather than tell us up front that it'll be a long downtime, they tell us it'll be (relatively) short, and then say "sorry" over and over as they extend it.I just really don't like being lied to. They know what tech things need to be done on Tuesday morning, so they are the only ones able to make an informed estimate of the downtime. They've had six years of maintenances and patches. If their public estimates are still wildly inaccurate, it's not due to incompetence, it's due to dishonesty.
Up to 5pm now...

TY nephth...damn thats long im too lazy for all that >.>WE WILL BE LIVE SOON™
Looks like the servers are SHATTERING their Pants Ba dum tiss...... :D ?
Maybe on patch days they can predict a longer amount of time... or say we might be up early but expect to be down till 5pm or 10pm or whatever this amounts too. As other posts said, we all knew it wouldn't be up, but I'd be much more excited if they said, " down all day" and came up early then keep updating us every few hours on hows its going to take longer. Just my two cents.
As a few have said, if you've been around for a while then this comes as no surprise. Some big patches come out smoothly, but in this case all of the old world is changing. There's no getting around it, it's a LOT to update and make sure that things are in place correcting. Sprite mapping, textures, borders, etc, etc... I don't expect to play until 7pm-8pm honestly, but no harm if I don't play today. I have a life outside of WoW after all. ^_^
nope sitting in a lounge chair on the deck... =) drinking a Corona
The world shudders as the wyrm regains his wings.
