The reason I let my account expire a few months ago was due to WoW's continuing negligence with assisting me in getting my hacked account straightened out.Let me be clear... I followed "every" instruction they provided, in emails, by phone and in the forums, helps, etc... and still the account remained under the hacker(s) control, meaning I kept getting both fake and genuine emails, both of which contained the same essential message... my account was under review for having violated the terms of.... yadda, yadda, yadda.... any of you who are familiar with WoW know the rest of the contents.... I realize that the hacking issue is a big one for WoW and frustrates their efforts to address it. However, I refuse to pay a monthly fee when the only time I get to spend with the game is trying to establish contact with WoW to get my account cleared up... which never occurred, regardless of my efforts over an extended number of weeks.I had considered opening a completely new account, with a completely new email address, etc. and, thus, starting from scratch... However, given WoW's lack of help when my existing account was hacked I have no desire to risk going through the same experience again.I will give them credit, though, for making the free week offer. If I was able to have any strong degree of confidence in having an account that would not be subject to being hacked, at least not as exposed to the threat as it had been previously, and that, if it were, I could count on WoW to be helpful in taking care of the situation rather than simply being an added layer of frustration, I would most likely go ahead and sign back up ( with a completely new account ) since virtually all of my gaming friends are planning to do the same.
