I still don't think I will be going for this, unless the entire Feat is still obtainable in Cataclysm. There are too many other things I'd like to do before the expansion, without having to worry about rushing to get this done before launch. I'd prefer to work on it steadily over a period of time instead of hoping I can get it done in less than four weeks.
Personally, I think that Shen'dralar was one of the loooooooooooongest reputation grinds of this feat. So OTOH, it's good that it's still doable, but still, makes it just a bit less insaney to get. =DAlso, managed to get this completed yesterday on my DK. Never using another title again.
I got this one a while ago, and it would definitely devalue the achievement severely, as the Shen'dralar are easily the 2nd hardest part of the grind. My bet is that in the current beta build the shen'dralar no longer exist? So therefore the achievement just went along with that.If they do continue to have the achievement available there should be some distinguishing feature besides the date of completion to the players who did it earlier. I say they just go ahead and cut the whole achievement out - its already a feat of strength so it is special.
"Many players currently working on the brutal Insane in the Membrane grind were worried when they learned that the achievement would be converted to a Feat of Strength when Cataclysm"it's already a feat of strength. Also rofl at the people who just bought 23 of my pristine black diamonds.
Shendralar is by far the hardest and most time consuming part.I was Shendralar exalted even before "the Insane" was introduced. I literally wrote the book on getting exalted with the Shendralar! Actually, it was easier at that time, because there was less competition for diamonds and librams. As for this change...? I don't care. Contrary to popular myth, we who are truly insane know who we are =)
Well, seemingly the only things stopping players from getting the Feat in Cataclysm were some reputation changes, such as issues with Booty Bay and the fact that Shen'dralar are flat out gone. Many people forget that just because something is a Feat of Strength doesn't mean it's removed or completely unobtainable (for example, the Feats for obtaining rare mounts such as Reins of the Raven Lord).I don't know if it's even possible for the game not to allow you to be granted a feat/achievement provided you actually meet the criteria. For example, back when they decided not to allow players to get the Champion of the Naaru and Hand of A'dal titles, they made completely new versions of the existing quests that qualified you for it, and replaced the ones that were available in game, just so that people who had completed the older versions of those quests would be properly awarded the title. The absolute only thing that Blizzard could do at this point would be to remove the Feat of Strength granting the title reward. And that would be flat-out mean. :(
Prior to this blog post, I had no idea who the Shen'dralar were.So that either means I'm entirely oblivious and unobservant,or,I still retain the fragments of my sanity that other reputation and achievement grinders lose, while in the process of um.. grinding achieves/rep. o.o
"It's possible that in some very specific situations where someone has completed the reputations which are being removed, but not others that will still be in the game, that it can still be completed. But it's something we're waiting for clarity on, and will let you know as soon as we do."I read this Blue announcement as this; If you completed some of the requirements for this Feat of Strength prior to them being removed from the game, you will be able to complete the remaining available components of the requirements left in the game and still get the Feat of Strength.Example only; Sorta like if you Fished up the ZG Boss before ZG was removed and got that Achievement, and it was still a requirement to get the Salty title. (However I understand that part of the Salty title is being removed as a requirement)
BEST THING EVER
Ofc, if this will be obtainable w/o Shen'dralar, it's still great. And for those that put hours and hours of work into repping that to exalted, I am obviously sorry. But I have just one thing to say:"pwahahahahhahahaha" :)
Personally, having gotten my shaman's rep to exalted (just need DMF, and farming for cards now), I wish they'd make a second one still requring it. TRULY Insane in the Membrane. Even if it didn't give another title, it'd be nice.

Especially since I had the opportunity to acquire said Feat but decided not to ninja it when I had the chance, and instead gave it to a hunter who was very grateful, but quit the game a few months later in boredom.
All I have to say is UUUUUUHHHHHG! I spent a sleepless week for NOTHING? I seriously took a couple friends and my husband and we all separately grinded out the PBD's I needed for this. I better get a novelty item that lets me fly with rocket boots! or on a book or something weird. Maybe a giant diamond... No?I'm still selling the extra ones I get for a good chunk of change to the goofballs that don't keep up with announcements. :3 One positive note I guess. Money to buy Invincible in a GDKP run possibly.
I’m seriously disappointed too, and I hope it’s still somehow required to have this reputation upped to Exalted, and that the change just reflects the removal of this faction.I’ve been grinding my way up these last weeks, and I’m farming tons and tons of herbs right now to complete my last missing reputation, DMF.First, they announce it’d be near impossible to obtain it because of factions removal, but still obtainable for hardcore players seeking to earn the title (which I am), then they make it far more “trivial” (for lack of a better word) by removing the Sen'dralar… Blizzard is ^&*!ing us hard with this one.To add insult to injury, they could simply remove the FoS at 4.0.3a and tell us, “hey, we warned you…”
A well deserved change.
Hopefully they add a separate feat of strength for people who managed to get Shen'drelar Exalted. Even if it doesn't reward anything, this lessens the work of other people who have managed to attain "The Insane", with the Shen'drelar requirement. However, I was on the beta tonight, and there was still a requirement for the Shen'drelar. Unless it just hasn't been pushed yet./sigh. Hopefully they just make it unobtainable if people haven't done it by Dec 7th.
Wait... from what Bashiok said, it sounds like those who don't already have the title will not be able to get it once cata hits. "The feat isn't being removed of course, those who have it will retain it, however; some of the requirements are, so it will no longer be able to be completed by anyone who has not already done so. I am in the middle of this achievement/feat of strength, they better not remove this when i'm in the middle of it!
Anyone who currently has Shen'drelar Exalted can still get it...if you don't you can't. Pretty simple really. If you have already done the things that are removed you can still get it.It's possible that in some very specific situations where someone has completed the reputations which are being removed, but not others that will still be in the game, that it can still be completed.
"It's possible that in some very specific situations where someone has completed the reputations which are being removed, but not others that will still be in the game, that it can still be completed."Now for anyone with decent reading comprehension this infers that if you were to get the reps that are being removed (e.g. shen'drelar) you could then get the remaining ones after cata hits and still get the achievement. There is nothing in the blue quote that would indicate what was speculated in the last paragraph of this post
As someone who in the last week has sold everything I possibly could (read: everything I've collected since TBC) to get Shen'dralar done, I really hope this report is mistaken.
