I didnt understand 3 sentences from the text above, damn :(
Basically, Bu5h1d0 what this blue post is explaining is that Warrior tanks end up with too much block so they end up blocking every attack which seems slightly over powered. So Blizzard by the sounds of it will bring down Shield Block's block value to 25% because at level 85 tanking gear will probably have a ton of block rating on it. edit; It equals it out pretty much.
The net buff referred to is simply that the overflow critical block conversion will make up for the reduced bonus on Shield Block. It seems like they want to emphasize the importance of using Shield Block regardless of gear level. In general, Blizzard seems keen on searching for balancing regarding stats. Less outright and obvious "haste > crit for all occasions" type priorities for characters. I hope they pull it off, as it will make itemization more interesting.
So how is a 75% nerf a "net buff for most warriors?"
Shield Block thingy got nerfed.Other block tech for warriors got a buff. (In theory)It should even out to be mostly not a loss, in theory.
you can't block if u don't get attackedyou can't get attacked if you don't make enough aggrohate warrior tanking right now, our AoE threat was crappy before 4.0.1 came out, and became even worst after it. And whats blizzard response to this? oh yeah, shield block nerf... Q__Q
Why Blizzard hate warriors so much?
So, I have a question for you boys and girls: how will this compare to the other tank classes' abilities which reduce damage? (i.e. Icebound Fortitude, assuming it is still in-game)ETA:Also, I have to agree with Squal. There has always been a need to multi-task when playing a warrior, especially when handling multiple mobs. In BC, you had to consitantly switch targets WHILE spamming any and all multiple target abilities when on cooldown. It is not *hard*; it is merely a different playstyle.
I think you'll find that although your mastery is set for shield block the nerf will not actually affect your damage mitigation. Parry will still be considerably higer, as will dodge. Warrior tanks however are now viable as "dps" tanks. Although in cata things will change, threat will still be easy to obtain with the proper rotation(heroic throw,<rend> thunderclap, devastate, cleave) proc revenge, shield slam, keep shield block active at all times. i kind of like doing 9k dps on the lk pre cata. Warriors are getting upgrades not downgrades. you just have to play with it. Self healing is another issue with warriors but victory rush and devastate combined in your talent tree will help immensley. They are still far off from what warriors want, but at least they are trying.
It really makes much more sense now. In reality, 100% shield block was a useless ability because as parry and dodge increase, you really didn't need much of that 100%.. most of it was just wasted. The way it looks, even at modest levels, the shield block ability will now pretty much just turn all your blocks into critical blocks (because anything above 100% gets turned into crit block) if you have a decent amount of mastery.
Oh @#$% critical block. It makes no sense and it's nearly an useless stat. So basically being dead or not will be the question of a COIN TOSS.They should've given.. I dunno, +x% armor from your shield? That would've made sense. But no, we are talking about blizzard and it's 14 year old amateur devs.
