Both interesting and terrifying; good in that it will cut down the multi-post trolls there on the official forums, bad in that it opens up new problems for people.
I think this will create a change in the manner many people post.
looks like I won't be posting on the forums anymore...this realID thing is turning into a bigger C.F. every day
forums are going to be a thing of the past imo. Except maybe for recruitment at the most. Blizzard has done it again >.>
This is never going to happen. In 24 hours they will realize what a terrible idea this was.
I've been wrongfully permabanned from those forums for years so I couldn't care less.
Yeah, I am not okay with this.
LOL, no thanks.
you guys are assuming people are gonna use there real first and last name for there realidalthough,it does suck.considering i like trolling people when i get bored so i guess thats not gonna happen anymore:(
Means I won't be posting there. Simply NOT interested in having, yet another, outlet for abuse of ID
Yea... bad idea imo.Granted, some people are using accounts under the name of someone else - those people won't give a flying **** if someone knows the name assigned to their account. (Like those bought on ebay or gifted from a friend or even stolen accounts).
I am not sure how they can get away with requiring you to use your real name and posting it publicly where all can see. Has Blizzard changed their ToC to reflect these types of changes?
hahaha thats awesome.. I would love to see all the little level 1 alt %£¥* talkers be identified... somehow I think this might pose a problem, its not REAL hard to look up an address these days.. I see a lot of game relate ass kickings in the future lol I think they should give users the option of keeping their name private.. thats pretty much a breech of your privacy
You have that right
you guys are assuming people are gonna use there real first and last name for there realidYou can't change the name on your account and nearly everyone that made their account pre-RealID used their real name to create their account (because that's what it asks for). So people who want to continue to troll anonymously will have to buy new accounts.
looks like I won't be posting on the forums anymore...this realID thing is turning into a bigger C.F. every dayThis.
Not being a forum troll, I welcome this change. Having some level of accountability in place of the relative anonymity of the forums will probably encourage me to make more use of them. Currently, reading anything on the forums isn't much different than reading trade chat. I'm sure this won't fix everything, but it's a step in the right direction.
Well... it'll cut down the trolling...Along with everything else.
I can see their reasons for doing this, but I don't think the gains are anywhere near outweighing the potential damage this could lead to.you guys are assuming people are gonna use there real first and last name for there realidI was thinking the same thing. Trollers and scammers could fake their name, while we wouldn't necessarily get that luxury.Gonna be an interesting few days in the World of Warcraft.
well, i did use my real name for the real id. this is not such a big deal as many of you think, take the Face Book example, where people have more then a name that is public. but still, i don't like the change, but i would welcome a permanent nick that would be displayed on all your forum posts, like all normal forums.
