The raid developments seem a little in conflict
I am looking forward to the guild stuff the most (Amicus Alliance woot!)Otherwise, I'm also looking forward to more flexibility for talents/glyhps.
Any idea if you'll be able to race change to a new race from your 80 character immediately? I see there are new heirlooms and that goblin and worgen will be able to use them immediately, ....Nop. There will be some time before you can change race, may be two months. The time enought to people get the achievement by been the first cow paladin reached lvl85 in server and such.
I wonder if they will make the new heirlooms keep leveling into the expansion after Cataclysm, or if they'll add yet another set. I'd prefer the first option, but I can why they wouldn't, considering you currently need currency from the corresponding expansion's level of content (And really, when we're 85 would we have really wanted to go back to WotLK level content just to get more heirlooms?). edit: Just thought of this, they probably also want to make it so people without heirlooms at 80 (or who don't want to wear theirs for whatever reason) have just a good of a chance of getting the class and race first achievements for 85?Personally I have no problems with them announcing the removal of the Path of the Titans and other features for now, rather than trying to focus all their energy on making a few new features viable at the expense of the rest of the stuff they are working on. Cataclysm is still introducing alot of interesting overhauls/revamping; better to make the decision to cut things and announce it than going the Peter Molyneux and making a bunch of hype without mentioning a bunch of stuff won't even make it in till you see for yourself when you buy the game.
-New info, but no so much (some things were known already); news are bit bad news. Not goooooodnews everyone!Reading opinions about posts here, i remembered and just realised a posible fact. How is possible Blizzard managed to release WoW (a real huge game, a revolution) in a relatively short time (about 3 years), and yet now is so hard level up to 85 Deadmines?.In the end phase of WoW development, some programmers quitted Blizzard to release & publish GuildWars. Wow is a real difficult game to made. Since then, many content, nice environments, features, quests, events and stuff have been incorporated; but internal mechanisms have been bugged for long time, or swung like a pendulum from "too over" to "too nerfed".-Do you remember the shoulder-size issue ?.It is possible those peopple who quitted were the core code programmers, and stayed real good art and graphic designers, who give us this unique look and feel, where Blizzard is the master. But, I feel as if the core of the game was inherited, and now they are afraid to change things in the code because too many side effects may occur that they are unable to foresee, because they do not know how the the hardcode works at 100%.Blizzard has already acknowledged that Haste and ArP have been gotten out of hands, uncontrolled.I am programmer myself, and i know as much people is working in a proyect, the problems and missunderstandings, and communication required between all them, grows exponentially; but should be some easy task to trust in secondary programmers where all environment, IA, 3D models and animations, textures are ready.Really is so hard adapt Deadmines to level 85?.-> Multiply HPx2000, damage dealx2000, armor x500 for all mobs and bosses there. Multiply all item stats from itemdrops x20, debug, test, fix, done.Even should NOT be so hard to bring lvl85HC-mode ALL instances of vanilla-WoW. Im a bit sad, and disappointed my expectations.New Guild InterfaceAnother thing I was frustrated not to be able to photograph, guilds now have a fully revamped interface with a lot of long-awaited features. This is not new at all. I'm surprised your frustration at not being able to photograph, when I saw pictures of it for 6 months or more, if you want i could search them in my PC and upload. The loot log of guild members, archievements log, filterable guild roster, proffessions from members, classified, and crafters for any specific item: all this can be seen in those images.Raids: 10-Mans and 25-MansNot very much to comment about. I do not see much sense to 25-man raids if the reward/(week&person) is the same, and the save is shared. Because this, is the "downshift" feature and I find it a complex mechanism to solve an artificial problem which consumes lot of development time, nonsense.Raid LockoutsTotal freedom. Easy. Epics, more epics per week. Content burned faster.Guild Advancementguild talents idea has been scrappedThis make me really sad. This idea (there are images also) was the most exciting for the most players i know.Blizzard clearly said wanted the all the people were inside a guild. Some characters in a pvp guild, another in a lvl-up guild, other in a guild raiding high-end instances, or all your characters in same general-purpose guild. This was exciting, and now the motivation for not being unguilded decrease (free PUG every individual bosses).Tom Chilton talked for a while about the issues they faced—Issue: Can only the guild leader pick the talents?Answer: Nop, rights to do it or not are setup by manage guild dialog, like all others options.Issue: Do you have respecs?Answer: YES, of course.Who pays for them?Guild pays them, from guild money you can see in lower right corner in guild bank window. Just like right now, guild repairs that only some members rise by rights.Who decides the changes? That is about internal organization of the guild, GM/officers usually, just like other 50 issues to decide. How do you make all the players feel involved? How do you make it just now?, or why they will get more involved without talents?.Do you min-max builds, so that all guilds feel the same? No. Depends on guild focus, just like character talents, with the time we´ll find the best 6-8 typical builds. Is so bad?.Guild progresses 25 lvls; guild reputation, well, seems nice but i really hope it will not become just another faction´s reputation more to farm. Bit sad, guild talents was so nice.Path of the Titans: Removed!Blizzard said wanted all glyphs being usefull (not like now, where allways you must use the 3 ones mandatories for your spec), and they were revamping many of them.Blizzard said that Path of the Titans (PotT) was a new way of character progress, where you could not reach the top in 2 days and neither could speed it up by chinesse-farming. It was like far achievements. You can get all the best glyphs as soon as you ding lvl-85, PotT dont. I think they found posible troubles imbalancing comming by unpredictable side effects by (glyphs revamps + top PotT), perhaps felt unable to solve easily in the future and scared.Solution, forget everything, set the 3 mandatory glyphs as Majors, and 3 of current poor glyphs able to equip too in Mediums (wich with time, required will be found too), and let the minor crap to stylistic or reagent saving purpose. That is, exactly as now with 3 more glyphs to buy in AH.About the glyphs being learned forever, i dont mind very much. My main char is inscriptor and know all glyphs in the game, but never gave me too much money, like gems by example, so low impact. Game easier.Since Archeology before today involved PotT, i hope this new proffession will not become just a new minning farm with gatheter addon.. . . since the majority of you simply must be scrubs who started in WotLK, to the release of The Burning Crusade, or Wrath. Do you remember ALL THE UPDATES WE GOT FOR THOSE EXPANSIONS? No? Good, since I don't either.I do.I must admit was slightly wrong when positioned hard against the elimination of downranking. However, the huge mana regeneration it brought, became a megahasted cast-spam, wich is now trying to be eliminated. Wow changes, and i hope to better.-It is the first time I know about Blizzard discarded ideas apparently because no time, after using a lot of effort in their development. A typical statement from Blizzard has always been: "will come when ready and everything perfect. A date?. When ready".Now I seem to perceive implicitly, "we rule this out because we do not have time", or "dont feel able to do with the Blizzard´s quality standards". Like AgeOfConnan ?.So much time and effort wasted on great ideas! now revamped to worse ones. Are programmers too busy in SC2, Diablo3?, are they tired, bored? In summary, as of today I am somewhat bit less enthusiastic about the Cataclysm expansion than yesterday at this time.Either way, I wish the best for Blizzard, encourage their programmers to do the best they can (awesome), and still i hope to give us all the best expansion for which is our favorite game for five years, the best MMORPG.
wouldn't it be cool if the gulid mount had the flag like Crusader's White Warhorse but the guild insigina or something like the flag for all your mounts
It's going to be a HUGE pita to have to buy all new heirloom past 80... I think everything that has already been purchased should be exchangeable for the new stuff. I know I can't be the only one out there with a BOA set for each armor class.Agreed, I have every single heirloom item in the game (and multiples of the trinkets, as I have multiple accounts (cloth account, leather/mail account, plate account), as I'm a major alt-o-holic, so I would indeed like to see some kind of way to upgrade them. But at the same time, I'm sitting on so many emblems at the moment across my 80's that I'm not too worried about it. Assuming that our emblems count towards the new system, otherwise, *shrugs*, that would suck.
Just looking at the changes so far, I have to say I'm liking it. To be honest, I wasn't very interested in the Guild Currency, Path of the Titans, or Guild talents. I'm loving the news about the cosmetic changes to Orgrimmar. (I was actually praying for a new entrance into Azshara. Sux to walk down the Southfury every time I head there on an Alt.) Also, Forsaken moving into some more areas is great, always wondered why they seemed to keep to themselves. *thumbs up* to 1k Needles being drowned =PAll in all, I'm happy again. Hope some more changes, and good news, come really soon.
I was hoping more for a housing section in Org and Stormwind. In redesigning both cities, it would have been a perfect chance to add a housing section where heroes can purchase houses and house the things they find from archeology. Friends and guildies could come in to oogle at your findings. All the while, perhaps a link to your achievement book in the room too? After all, it is all about you. An extra storage would also be nice. With all these holidays, my bank is getting flooded by holiday items I don't want to throw away, but I need more bank room.
Don't mind the removal of Path of the Titans, if just because I really don't want to join a cult any time soon.why join a cult when you can fund your own rite? xDwith path of the titans gone, archaeology won't be so hot, also, big bummer on the guild talents not being added, I can see their reasons but my brain still doens't accepts it quite full.moreover, where does it says that heroic SFK and DM are getting delayed and/or scrapped? malgayne's post says nothing about it.I'm quite happy that cho'gall wasn't killed by that idiot med'an, is like I allways say "don't let a sue do a man's job" xD we're gonna kill that bastard, and unlike med'an we will not screw up and let him walk out of this one.I like most of what was said (specially the new lockout system, and other similar stuff) but there's one part that really bugs me.ORGRIM'S HAMMER WAS CRASHED AND THE SKYBREAKER WASN'T!.I demand justice! >.<

Assuming that our emblems count towards the new system, otherwise, *shrugs*, that would suck.do not forget, the VERY important detail, that unlike in WOTLK , heirlooms in cataclysm can be CRAFTED.ask a guildie with the recipe to craft it for ya, all you gotta do is get the mats (wich is much less stressing than farming emblems) as gold is earned in a much more wide way than emblems.getting the new heirlooms isn't gonna be as horrid as it is today. Now what I'd love them to do is make the new heirlooms based in tier 2 (as oposed to tier 0 like today) because to me, tier 2 was the pinnacle of tier desing, those are the best looking armors in the whole frikking game.if not tier 2, then maybe tier 6 with a color swap, but do something blizz! don't let such beutifull desings fall into oblivion!.
So yeah, the customization that they touted as a big part of the xpac is gone. So we basically get 5 more talent points and a few new skills. yay. Things just got meh real fast. Oh well at least there's more lore.
So many changes! I kinda liked the guild talents and path of titans idea, but they seem to have something in mind with those being taken out. Maybe they will complete the options they were supposed to add to Wrath finally hm?
I don't understand why Blizzard figures guild talents would be too hard to do. Ragnarok Online has no problems with it.Disappointed about the loss of PotT, I don't like their excuse either.
Yeah, it looks cool and all, but think about this. He destroyed a monument to his father to put the skull of Mannarroth on the throne and Grommash Hold, and he also scraped The valley of wisdom making it a Tauren section, which is kind of trying to Soften the Blow the HE KILLED KAIRN! And he also dishonored the trolls by making the other part of the Valley of Wisdom into a Vacation Resort for the Goblins! So with all that in mind, try THINKING next time before Rooting for Garrosh.....
Yeah I really like these Changes they decided to do. I just hope they dont make the guild ranking so hard to do that everyone runs off to big raid guilds to be in the highest ranked guilds. hat would suck!
I like a lot of the changes! Glad they are more paying attention to how things will work and that they are actually removing things that don't end up working BEFORE the game actually comes out.Oh, and that Dancing Troll Village... you can see it as you fly from Moonglade to Darnassus :P
. . . You should be grateful they're providing these updates for us, leaking this information, even if you are a bit disappointed about a favourite feature dying.Indeed. I always appreciate the efforts of Blizzard to provide information about changes in the incomming patches and expansions, feedback from players, bugfixes, and GM ingame performance. After suffer AION for 1 month, where the info just should be inside user manual was almost impossible to find, GM unexistent support, and information about changes and patches applied was ZERO, I appreciate it even more. Thanks.
So herilooms stop "growing" at 80....do they still reward the exp bonus?Dont think so. You could perhaps buy new heirlooms with lvl85 badges, when you reach lvl85 for your Alts. This is logical, to anyone think about one minute, may be two. Blizzard did I suppose.
Oh darn! I wanted Path of the Titans!
