So all in all we are losing healing/absorb power and gain damage? Thumbs down! I like to be a Healer/Proter...
Well, though I like the changes on Disc, as it is my offspec and I find it terribly boring sometimes, I'd like to see more versatility when picking the talents for my purple guy.Shadowy Apparition - brings Lady Deathwhisper to mind xD; Imp Shadowform and the 5% haste, it's great that we can be picked to bring haste, since we can't bring hit no more.Chakra is awesome, just awesome.I do fear the return of the lolsmite as a viable DPS bringer. Back in my Karazhan days, the top dps was a lolsmiter.
They seem to be focusing disc into a pvp spec. I myself enjoy the fast heals and strong bubbles provided from disc, but it seems with the removal of the haste talent and reduction of the BT talent that Im not going to be as effective anymore. Im not slamming these new talents, but it kinda looks like they expect us to either arena or heal/dps in pve.
anyone notice that the fortitude buff talent isn't there at all.
It looks like a disc healer is going to be effectively forced to start doing damage now.So now not only do I have to keep people alive, I have to compete on the dps meters. Obviously we won't be on par with pure dps as that would be OP, but we'll be competing with other damage-healers. Which introduces the possibility of healers being rejected/kicked from raids because they don't do enough damage. I don't like that idea.Continued thinking on this after posting and what Sinespe said in response makes sense. My main frustration here is that I want to heal, not do damage. In the end I'll learn to run with it though. While channeling penance :p
Notice the "Dark Thoughts" tallent in tier one in the shadow tree and compare its effect to "Improved Shadowform". Does that mean that shadow priests will have like 140% reduction in casting/channeling time loss when damaged (in Shadowform)?
I don't see myself playing in Cata, but if I were, I don't think I'd go with the end-game builds previous posters have. I would do something along the lines of this. This is based on me aiming for the most damage as a shadowpriest, along with the most protection outside of casting a heal. Of course, this is all supposition until they finalize everything, but I just don't see the point of grabbing pvp talents for endgame when you can find some of the new shiny spells in disc or holy to use.
I may be the only person who thinks this but personally I HATE THE NEW DISC/SHADOW TREES...As a Disc priest I am already overlooked enough as a healer for raids as it is, (Paladins are apparently FTW tank healers and the Shammy/Druid teams have raid heals, and be honest you know we got the short end of the healing stick in WotLK regardless of how good at healing the PLAYER may personally be). Now you want to take out some of my best damage mitigation talents, Raid Buffs, and awesome shielding abilities and try and say "It's OK here is a Raid Bubble that you can cast every 3 minutes for most of your mana. Oh and we almost forgot your a healer so here are a few DPS boosters to make it up..." This is not improvement Blizzard...As for shadow, they are getting one "Nuke" skill and their tree is almost unchanged. the few changes are basically passive and at the moment there is literally no where to go after you have your shadow tree nearly filled (with every talent you truly need you have 13 points left over and NOWHERE to spend them).(Also if you roll the numbers at the moment you will find you loose DPS grabbing Innerfocus so that is a useless talent as well -_- )I am a PVE priest, I rolled a priest because I want to heal... DON'T TRY AND MAKE MY CLASS ANOTHER DPS! (Thats what my DK is for) should it be an option, sure but the way things are looking it is almost a mandatory spec now to boost damage, that is just wrong. I don't like holy healing after tasting the sweet sweet taste of Pennance, don't make me go back please.Tl;Dr: Priests are healers stop trying to make us DPS, thats not what I signed up for. Also make the shadow tree something with options, not just a full tree because I have nowhere to spend my points...
The only viable Disc Heal specWas aiming to skip most damage increasing talents and focus on absorption and healing effects. Pentience, although a DPS talent, is taken for the 15% to crit on Penance (assuming it works on the heal portion of it) and still points needed to be taken in Atonement to reach higher tiers. You are probably saying why not Evangelism/Archangel, but that would require casting Smite a lot.Assuming that Greater Heal will be the tank healing spell, Flash is used in emergencies. Talents in Holy tree focus on increasing healing from those spells, going up to Deliverance (Serendipity).the "put all points into Holy" buildCant believe I talented into Lightwell...Blizzard is intent on making it a more used spell, but not on making it more useful. Why not make it into something like Refreshment Table or Soulwell. At first I wanted to up to Enlightenment into Disc, but that would require me to take a lot of useless DPS talents. The return of the Lolsmite!A more Leveling/BG/ fun spec, taking mostly DPS talents and some survivability talents-note-Apparently, linking a Disc spec is bugged atm. Will try to relink when/if it is fixed. But you probably get where I was going with the build anyway...
Shadowy Apparition looks like fun ;P I can just imagine shadowy exploding taurens now.
Under Archangel you have put the description for Evangelism, unless there are 2 talents that do exactly the same thing?
Since Shadowy Apparition affects all targets that have SW: P I see our Multi-dotting power getting a great boost and really intimidate other players (well whenever it activates that is). Imagine dotting people up in AV and seeing a sea of shadowy clones chase down your enemies!
As Paolo said, the Talent Calculator seems bugged and not showing the full spec. I'm surprised kuram you didn't find a 37/23/0 build with 76 available talent points a bit odd. Will try to fix those links. You might be true. With synergy from Evangelism/Archangel and Atonement, Smite will be our Spell we cast while our tank is at full health and not taking a lot of damage. Maybe right after a PW:S so it benefits from Borrowed Time.
