Subtlety Rogues are still having a lot of bloat at the end of tree and PvE raiders have to pick up a lot of useless crap just to get there. True, anything gives damage bonus, but spending 10+ talents for random crap (like imp ambush, etc) just to get half way, when every single talent becomes desirable by a PvE raider, is bad mojo. And I also agree with the impression that there's still a good load of staight up damage increase talents and a few specs to min-max with. I was hoping for "fun" talents, like HaT, and stuff, that are dps increase but in more of a subltle was, instead of bluntly increasing Evis damage again. Meh.

I really hate what they have done to priests and I seriously hope this isn't close to the final version. Why do we need a holy dps spec all of a sudden? I am pretty sure I will retire wow when cata hits. How many healers get bored in current content and dps anyway? Giving healers optional dps talents that gives them something to do on certain fights, soloing or five mans is very good in my book. Holy's not getting a dps spec anyway. If anything, it's Disc. What Holy's getting is a viable early level soloing build. Buffing smite when that's basically the only spell you have will be glorious for early priests everywhere in Cataclysm. With the Discipline talent making Smite heal a friendly target for 45% of the damage, it's now a healing spell. You're smart-healing a party member by targeting an enemy, and the damage is simply a bonus. In addition, there are other talents that increase the damage (and thus healing) and reduce the mana cost of Smite, and there is an activated ability that lets you burn those stacks to improve your healing. If you're not flexible enough to see that this has a very good chance of making Discipline extremely fun to play, then I don't know what to tell you. Also recall the fact that spending points on these "dps" talents will also give you +healing +mana regen bonuses and Absorption/ Radiance as well.Well said.I'm quite excited by what I see thus far. Loves me some Smite healage.
Here's some fun DPS talents for a Holy/Disc hybrid spec.Twin Disciplines - %5 Instant Spell DMGPenintance - %15 Smite CritAttonement - %45 Damage to healthEvangelism - %20 DMG / %30 Less Mana Smite/Holy Fire/Holy NovaSearing Light - %12 Smite/Holy Nova/Holy FireDivine Fury - 0.5 faster Smite/Holy FireDivine Accuracy - HitSurge of Light - Crits cause non-critting instant SmitesChakra - Godmode ? (The tooltip is errored)Imp HOLY NOVA - LOLBasically, even barring the snipe healing and so, if Smite healing is smart enough and puts out a nice decent number, then one might just cut one healer from raid for a Smite/Oh $%^& healer. In fact, as a RL, I plan to have my 10 men raids with 2 healers 1 Hybrid DPS/Healer (Priest or Elem or Balance) and 25 men with 5 healers and 2 hybrids. I might even play one myself.Looks definitely fun!
ok, seriously? "We are removing the boring talents".Not really, it's basically the same apart from a few new/changed talents that can be expected for every expansion. If this is the big change then it's pretty lackluster.
I gotta say I'm liking the Balance changes: Solar beam, Lunar Justice, Euphoria and Fungal Growth all sound useful. While I'm still not terribly happy about the changes to Resto druids (well more specifically ToL and not because the changes are bad I'm just so use to being a tree it will take getting use to seeing myself again), I like what they're doing with Disc and even Holy sounds kinda ok now. Looking forward to PW: Barrier and Shadow Apparition. Resto shaman (which is what I currently happen to be leveling) didn't get too many changes in talents. But of the three healing classes I've played (Paladin, Druid, Shaman), they seem to be the most well balanced anyway. Lastly, I think Reinforced Leather is a bit op Rogues all ready have so much avoidance do they really need increased armor too? I for see that either being nerfed or removed. But what do I know?
In the druid resto tree there are (atleast) four talents that are not correct, compared to what blizz released.Nature's BountyEmpowered TouchEfflorescenceGift of the EarthmotherAll of them get's the wrong tooltip if you put more than one point in them. Efflorescence and Gift of the Earthmother is the worst, as they revert to what they are in the current trees. The other two merely drop part of their description.
Dont forget that WoW is not only about 80 (85) lvl raiding, it will also be about leveling from 1 to 85 - and those talents (i.e. priest) will really help with this. And about Tree of Life - I've read somewhere that it will shapeshift you into something like this fellow. Maybe they will let us stay in actual tree form with minor glyph (just a skin, doesnt affect anything) for those who want it?... Maybe... Nom nom nom...

I'm honestly really disappointed in the Balance Tree for Druids. I mean there are a few improvements that are really nice, but taking away Moonfury, Insect Swarm/Imp. Insect Swarm, and uber nerfing the other later tier talents like Moonkin Form (armor contribution down to 120% from 370%, no longer reducing damage by 15% while stunned, single target spell crits no longer have a chance to restore 2% base mana, etc) and so forth. I honestly think that I'm more upset about the changes than I am excited about all the new and interesting ones...that's just my opinion though, maybe someone else might say all of these changes are good, but I'm currently sad to see my Boomkin get nerfed...
I do not think the new trees are terrible, but I am underwhelmed by the amount of 'free' talent points we will have. One of Ghostcrawler's biggest comments was they wanted to get away from cookie-cutter builds and give players more 'choices' or free talents that can be used wherever you want. (more so than in wraith). This just isn't the case. I did my restro-druid, moonkin and shadow priest, and in all cases, I really didn't feel I had a substantial amount of 'choice'. For instance, in Wotlk, I had maybe 3-5 talent points my moonkin had to debate over.. in Cat, it is about the same. The restro build has even less choice, and I really can see almost all restro druids taking exactly the same talents (raiding). Not saying it is bad, I just don't think GC has achieved his goal of freeing up talent points so players don't feel locked in.
One thing to check. The talent Enhancing Totems in shaman enhancement tree says:"Increases the effect of your Strength of Earth and Flametongue Totems by 15%."Blizzard said that they will completly remove flametongue totem and replace it whit totem of wrath, so the talent tooltip will be changed.Another thing, Stromstrike no longer have charge´s, now it has a duration of 15 secs and cd of 8 secs meaning more room for another skills? And the "balanced" Lava lash that got more cd but increaced damage wont fill that room.Wanna try it xD.
The new Cataclysm talent trees, are just way to awesome. But I do have to ask. Are the masteries bonus going to be added to the new talent trees? Thanks for the hard work in getting the talent trees set up.
Masteries are based on the talent tree but dont show it self as a talent, you will get the mastery bonus based on the amount of talents on the talent tree whit more talents. Thats what they said :P
3/3 improved exposed armour & 5/5 relentless strikes would mean that a rogue could do a 5combo point expose armour at no cost. (well the cost of one rogue global aka 1sec)that's nice for guilds without a warrior tank or fights where warrior tank isn't on your boss.and it's HUGE for pvplet's hope this stays :)
Not sure if this has been discussed previously but with the additional talent points you can reach dual wield while still filling out the necessary talents in the Shaman resto tree. Does this mean that I will be able to dual wield healing one-handers? A little too much maybe? Not even sure that this is not done now (but you would lose the core points in the resto tree if you did go this route)

Looks definitely fun! While I, too, am excited over the ability to fit smite into a healing play-style, the coefficients will just not be worth bringing a full-time smiter . Again, while fun and extremely useful in PvP, the 45% Smite -> Heal has a very small radius and in a world of huge healthbars, will just not be strong enough to justify bringing to PvE.

Not even sure that this is not done now (but you would lose the core points in the resto tree if you did go this route)Spell weapons are main-hand-only for that very reason. As far as shaman is concerned, I feel like there aren't enough talents. I've built both resto and ele builds and I still have points left over. Yes, I could take pvp talents, but why should I? I want more healing talents if I'm healing, more spell-casting talents if I'm casting.
What happened to the questions you were going to ask GC? Me want.
I've been trying to make a Combat Rogue build, and unless raiding changes dramatically (I know healing does, but DPSing seems to be the same), there's a lot of talents that are underperforming in a PvE aspect. I can see getting them if DPS are going to be more responsible for taking damage than in WotLK, but other than that, I'm wracking my head around the tree trying to figure out what to take as I make my way to the bottom of the tree.
