Somehow, I don't believe anyone's surprised.
Blarg, there goes my two specs on my dk heh; Blood raid DPS and Blood/Unholy solo spec.
I love that new. I always liked Blood, but never liked the fact that I had to spend SO MUCH points into other talent tree to be able to tank.EDIT: Oooooo, I am no more premium... it already does a year?
So.... we're gonna have a dual-wield dps spec, a 2h dps spec, and a tank spec? Yay for warrior 2.0!Also; will they make blood pres the new tank pres? If so, what will happen to frost?
I think alot of players will appreciate this change. Alot of the "poor playing" DK tanks people whine about in heroic pugs, are really DKs that don't have a good tank build, then have trouble with gear that fits the build. My main is DPS but I'd be happier knowing the DK tank I run heroics or raids with has better tools for doing their job, rather than wipe us because of a funky rotation (again, talent build determines rotation).Players that play DKs as tanks: what do you think?
I'm not surprised, I'm glad that they are finally giving it one Tanking tree, and I sort of figured it would be Blood (don't know why though).
Not surprised in the least, just bitterly disappointed. ...And I'm a blood tank.Seriously, Blizz? It wouldn't be hard to think of something in my opinion.Edit: Actually, after reading the description, I see their point. However, what happens to feral?
Thanks for killing my favorite DPS character, Blizzard.
My main is a DK tank and I would just like to say that although it is possible to make tank specs in all three trees and have a go at it, there is one serious dk tank spec. Frost is tank. I like using my blood spec for pvp dps and for running people through instances. When WotLK started, I started my dk frost while lvling, went unholy tank in Naxx, and eventually gave in to the much greater survivability of frost for Ulduar and beyond. While this does change everything, honestly, I don't care. It a fun idea to have three tank specs for three playstyles, but like they said....one is always best. As far as being warrior 2.0, I disagree. Their magic abilities, which make them much better at handling ranged, imo, makes them different enough to be serperated from warriors. We will just have to wait and see what they do with DKs. My money is on giving DKs a big buff in order to calm all of the whining about the one tanking spec thing, which will make DKs the unbeatable tank for a time and then you know there will be the whining from other tank classes, which will cause DKs to get hit with another giant nerf bat, knocking them back to 3% worse at everything than every other class. I like the mechanics of DKs, which is why I play one, but I get tired of the high level of scrutiny/discrimination that the class recieves.
Not happy and I've been tanking as Blood before it was in the in-thing; well before Ulduar. While I can understand the decision from a design standpoint, even Blizzard themselves admit that the unorthodox tanking style of the DK class is what makes them attractive to players looking for something different. Although I have never subscribed to the concept before, I feel now more than ever that Cataclysm is going to pack too much homogenization into it's contents to really establish any sort of unique playstyle within the scope of an individual class. The "mastery system" really just sounds like a skewed method of earning extra talents points for spending talent points and when players are shoehorned into their roles as such, there's going to be s-f-a diversity amongst the player community. The whole thing reeks of glyphs all over again; why bother getting excited for a change that will just result in every player picking the same combination?
Im a PvP kind of person, and I love Blood for PvP. IMO Blood is built for it. With things like Spell Deflection, Mark of Blood, ect. Yes, these are great for tanking, but they dont seem to have the dmg mitigation abilities and high armor that Frost and Unholy have. My DK isnt as far along as Id like him to be, but Frost and Unholy presently seem better suited for tanking.
so far its been like thisblood = physical dmg based dps whit self heal abilitystalent tree containing +dmg ap and str + self healing bonusesFrost = tanking whit frost dmg based abilitys and dpssing whit DW and having nice little haste buffing and debuffingtalent tree containing aoe spells tanking buffs and haste buff/debuff movement slowing efects and spell resistan procsunholy = disease based multi target dps and a constant minion on your sidetalent tree containing auto attack bonuses aoe bonus to diseases and minion bonuses +spell dmg from all sources and some aoe improvementsso its gonna be like this?blood = tanking bonuses and self healsfrost = same as before but whit out tanking improvements and gonna be a bit more like : hi im a short range plate wearing frost mage whit a rage like mana poolunholy = removing bone shield?
I like these news. But I wonder what will happen to Bone shield and other awsome skills. I just don't think it makes much sense if the blood tree has Bone Shield. I love the skill though so I don't care. Also, tanking in frost presence while blood is THE tanking tree is a bit confusing. It's not very different from a Warrior tanking out of defensive stance. They should swap effects or something, but I don't really care.Anyways, nice changes imo!
Ah, this sounds like a great change! My DK is specced Blood/Frost, both specs are for tanking... its just annoying to have one talent build which is great for single target tanking, but fails miserably at AoE, and another that is great for AoE, but hinders behind the first at single target.Since i know Blizzard know their job, they are most probably gonna give Blood DKs some sweet snap AoE threat ability which is gonna make things much easier. I am looking forward to that.Presences are not gonna make sense though. It is logical that Blood deals damage, and Frost makes you more rigid. Will they swap the effects of the presences? Will they not? It will be hell hard to get used to this particular change for me.Also: DEATH TO DUAL WIELD TANKING. Or maybe Blood will contain both DW and 2H friendly talents. My head hurts from DK fail tanks using 2 fast weapons, doing 5,5k TPS, and thinking they are the kings of the world.
