I'm impressed! If you just skim over most forums, you come away with the overwhelming feeling that WoW is dying, that the changes they're making are killing the game, and that it's just a matter of time before the last few people leave. It's obvious (mostly from WoW's subscription numbers) that this isn't true, but still--the vocal minority makes such a stink that it's hard to keep track of how people really feel. This particular post appears to I've brought the silent majority out of the woodwork!I know that you're just trying to defend one of your staffers' opinions, but reading this paragraph makes me feel a little insulted. The only reason anyone should come away from a WoW (or any game) community feeling like the game is dying is if that person takes everything that is written in it's literal sense. Savvy individuals read between the lines and look for the motivation behind one's opinion and the reasoning for it's calm // angry // belligerent expression. The people who are angry at the opinion/s Ruthvenn has expressed are these sorts of people who don't see someone making some sort of valid claim of the, "achievement scale", of the game; they just see someone pining for nostalgia at the expense of every positive advance the game has made within 5 years.No.
I'm just going to say...If anything kills WoW, it won't be another MMORPG. It won't be a new genre. It won't be a game by another company. It won't be another game designed by Blizzard. It will be Blizzard that kills WoW itself.Just something to think about, make what you will of it.

There is a WoW-killer out there, the problem is that no-one's come up with the solution just yet...
When i sumbled upon this topic it made me wonder - as i recently had an oppinion of our game going in downward spiral towards fiery depths of failhell.I was a bit wrong, but to see that one needs solid perspective. My arguments were following:1. High end gear to easy to obtain. Bad players running around in tier and such. Annoying at first to look at. Game to easy.Think-through: Bah. Not true, i say to myself. So what they run around geared? Are they doing well? Most of the time no, even class considered to be overkill. It saddens a good player to see that, yes. BUT IT IS OF NO CONCERN. Still, there are times that show You, that Ajzol can be a very harsh place, even for a t9 geared group. Not becasue its hard, but because stupid players are stupid. And no, they won't see real eandgame.2. Pugs doing raids easy. Contend should pose a challange, not a grind fest for pugs.Think-through: Not true. Pug more to see the ammount of failure that's covered under the occasional succes. Pugs were raiding since vanila - sure there is not so much trap-door mechanics in raids as it was in vanilla or bc, but as long as knowledge is required for a group to succed, its ok. I saw icc only up to rotface and festergut, but including them no fight was "tank and spank" that can be done without basic knowledge of fight mechanics3. Content to easy. no way to show your skills by gear from it.Think-through: Yes, and no, even double no. Normal raids are not quantum physics, yes - but really, should they? Those encounters are reasonably challenging and require mild preperation. Fun. But the hard modes? Damn, those are hard. im from Hellfire EU, and there are just 10 guys that have tribute to dedicated insanity there. Argent Defenders, 10 people on a years old realm. You think its easy? Go ahead try it with your guild. Good freakin luck to you. Killing LK in normal 10man is not endgame. It only shows final cutscene to give You something to work on and a satisfaction that pushes you further. The only problem, that i agree on is that gear from heroic versions looks the same like from normal - yeah, I care, bite me :PIt's not that much different from how it was before. Irritation comes from seeing random people being random. Don't do LFG hc's to often and it all seems ok ;)
die, die, die. Why won't you die, oh thread from hell.
For all of you arguing about how easy the game has become, and how boring it is, I have a suggestion: Make it harder.Sound too easy to be true? Well it isn't. No matter how hard they try to make this game, it is easy because of information from sites like this one. If you want it to be harder, just play it...blindly. When Cataclysm hits, uninstall your addons.... no map coordinates... no questhelper.... no pallypower.... etc. Then just play the game. Don't read endless posts on "how to finish this quest" or "how to down this boss". Don't spreadsheet your gear. Don't look at youtube videos of the game.... just play the game. I think you will find that this game is considerably challenging when you don't take the insider's expert approach.

There is a WoW-killer out there, the problem is that no-one's come up with the solution just yet...I have always believed (and said about a month ago):WoW will die when Blizzard attempts to replace it, one way or another. Either the replacement will succeed, and that game will succeed WoW, or it won't and WoW and Blizzard will just fizzle as some new thing roflstomps them. I don't see a middle way.
lol This is'nt news what the hell is it doing here it's your opinion. So much for unbias articles. Some have lives some don'T you can NEVER please the Elitests but you can cator to the more money making scheme. After all Blizzard is a business.
I think the players themselves are to blame. We are bombarded with so much information, calculations, pre-made specs, and power leveling guides. People forget that at one time there was no gearscore, there was no spreadsheets, simply a Tauren and his sword and shield.Part of the reason the game seems to be going downhill is because nowadays people are so goal-oriented. WOW has become a cut-throat, competition, rather than an experience to bond over. Even the hardest raid can be pugged, even the noobiest n00b can be decked out in epics and everyone and their grandmother has a 310% flying mount.I think for Cataclysm, going back to Azeroth, Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, Blizzard should focus on what made the game special in the first place -- and that is the Community.I'd venture to say that unified chats, LFD, the emblem system all took this away, and while I wouldn't take any of these things away, I'm very happy to see guild updates coming in the next expansion. The social aspect of the game is the reason I play and keep playing.
I skipped the 10 pages of replys so this is just my 2 cents.Personally, I believe that WoW needs to take us back to what we knew in Vanilla. I think Blizzard should reintroduce encounters that goal-oriented players can work towards over weeks and months, to allow them to feel the gratification that existed in times past. Obviously this won't be for everyone, and the casual gamer will still need attention, but I feel as if the game was made for players to face an epic, difficult-to-overcome challenge, and not a cake-walk that just anybody can walk into and perfect on day one.To the op, what a load of crap. The game still has challenge for me, guess I'm not a god like you that finds the latest raids a cake walk. Take your bull and go play something else.I hardly expected this kind of trolling from you.
I wasn't aware that Wowhead was full of necromancers?
I wasn't aware that Wowhead was full of necromancers?Well duh!But on-topic, WoW is heading into the direction that blizzard is pathing it too because it's their game and they have a 100% say in where it goes.
Is FFXIV out yet?...I mean, uh. I also agree it's too easy... ...Seriously, that thing needs a release date.
