1. Buying gold = stealing other people's time and effort2. Stealing = wrongIf you disagree with 1 you're naive and if you disagree with 2 GTFO and go play some other game.
I'd never buy gold.Heck sometimes I wish I had a lot more gold then I own at the moment, but that feeling of finally getting something you've worked so hard for feels so good... (:
Gold to me is monopoly money: fictional and useless and not worth my irl money.People who buy gold are the epitome of lazy. I'm !@#$ing lazy. I avoid work every chance I get but damn, I don't buy gold. I do my dailies. I farm. I have the gold I need. It is not worth $200 for fictional gold that buys you pixels in a meaningless game.Seriously, it rains gold in northrend, and people have to buy it? Bull@#$%.
Okay wait a secIf these companies are committing identity theft and fraud, why can't they be taken to court and shut down or something? This crosses the line from breaking the ToS of a video game, to breaking actual laws.
So id like to ask somthing of the wowhead staff here - and not in an attacking way. i have NEVER receved any offers to buy wow gold or scam emails to try and get me to send these people my account info, HOWEVER, i signed up for wowhead about 2 weeks ago, and since then ive had no less than 26 emails starting 3 hours after i signed up. is wowhead selling out to these people, to get our email adresses or does your site have low security and they are taking this information from you? this is not an attacking question - realisticly, its more likely that some gold farming site is piggybacking off you guys
I don't like buying gold as much as any other guy, because mostly it comes from hacked accounts and whatnot, but I'm a bit disappointed in how you people all shoot Rilgon down. He already said he doesn't buy gold himself, but he did say he would buy gold if it was permitted by the TOS. And I think this is a very good point.Most of you say "it's so easy to get gold" (either through farming or doing some AH tricks. Also you mention "it's only a game, you shouldn't commit to a raid like that".Well because it's a game, you want to enjoy it the most you can, right? Some activities (raiding with friends, for example) might be fun to you, while others (like farming money) might appall you. How would you feel if you had to do one activity you don't like at all for 3 or 4 nights a week just to have fun 2 to 4 other nights? Wouldn't you just want to have fun all of those nights, or maybe cut back and only just play the 2 to 4 nights and raid?(This is all ignoring the fact that I agree that raids almost pay for themselves already with BOE epics, the gold dropped from bosses and naturally guildies could help you out).Anyway, I just wanted to point it out that you're all judging Rilgon from a point of view where buying gold is inherently bad, and not from a general point of view of being able to buy gold in a "legal" way to support fun play. And that's kind of short sighted, I think.
Perhaps if Blizzard cared so much, they'd add virtual keyboards, better security, and not force people to switch over to a login that uses your email address.
If they do allow gold buying/selling it will only really benefit the little kids who pay thousands of gold for TCG cards on ebay now with their mommy's credit card. The normal adults with jobs and financial responsibilities (y'know, bills, food, rent, social activities etc) will not be affected in any way except maybe things will get a lot more expensive in-game because of inflation. I knew plenty of people who got banhammered for buying/selling gold. A guy in my guild back in vanilla had almost 40 splinters of atiesh on his mage the week he got banned for buying gold from a gold farming service. My friend bought gold on two of his accounts and lost both. I also knew someone who bought gold from a "private" gold-seller (just one guy operation, farms all day, plays the AH then sells gold and lives off that irl) and he is still playing but you just never know.If you don't care about being a cheater, at least ask yourself: how much is your account worth to you?
How come fewyn gets a button? Did you kidnap noxy and force her to do it at gunpoint? Its okay noxy I will save you!
Valandily = win :P
