I don't see any reason why not to change. As other users have pointed out, it's the individuals responsibility to keep the account secure, and a battle.net account is no less secure than a regular account. To me this seems like patch 3.3 is not too far off. At Blizzcon they announced that with patch 3.3 they would have a new cross-server instance and cross server friend system implemented (well, not too sure if the cross server friend thing would be in 3.3, but they have the cross server instance thing slated for it).
My hubby and I just merged our accounts with Battle.net, but haven't received a penguin. Is this something that comes later (when the merges are mandatory), or are you supposed to get it right away? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding...
Wondering the same thing (I'm on the EU servers). I did it around half an hour ago but still haven't gotten my penguin.
I also just merged my account this morning with a new Bnet account, and still haven't recieved my pet in the mail yet in game.I'm assuming there's a flood of people registering with battle.net and merging their accounts as of this announcement.
I don't understand what the big deal is. Like Troll ruler said it take less than two minutes to do. It really isn't that big of deal.
When i first saw i just went, what? But it turned out to be not to bad for a penguin. The only problem i see is that i know alot of people that doesn't use the forums, so how should they get the information? It's like at Nov. 12, most people are going to be WTF about what's happening. I really hope it will be given information at the login screen some weeks before.
Since I already merged my account for the battlebot, it doesn't affect me other than gaining a new pet.
FYI: You get the penguin most likely on the 12th of november
Took em long enough to force a mandatory merge...
Hi all, Please forgive my lack of knowledge on this matter, but:- I have never used Battle.net, but i am grasping that it is simply a Blizzard gaming browser for playing games like War2, Starcraft, Diablo etc online with other people through one medium. Is this correct?- What is the reasoning behind Blizzard forcing this change? I'd say the vast majority of people do not play the earlier blizz games these days.- Why is it that the first i have heard of it was through a chance browsing through a fansite forum, rather than on the login screen? This is pretty major (within reason, obviously) i wish i had of known about this a while ago.Can anyone help me with these queries?I'm not QQ'ing, just inquisitive. However, i certainly am not happy about having to use yet another e-mail address as my login, but hey, worse things have happened!Tx in advance
I created a Battle.net account this morning, after seeing this announcement, however I cannot now log into it, my web browser simply hangs when I press login. Is this a normal thing?I've not yet merged my accounts, since I am not sure if this announcement is a US only thing or not. Does anyone know the answer to that?
I'm not bashing the people that don't want to convert, but I want to let them know why this is mandatory.Blizz has said that the battle.net accounts are universal for all their games from this point on, and that WoW itself will only interface with battle.net accounts eventually, the reason being that it allows additional functionality. They can't just have both because the pressure on the servers to handle 2 databases at the same time would make the game drastically slower for everyone.Again, i'm not bashing, but those that say "well, how do you know?" I know because Blizz has stated these things, most of them more than once.
