148 pages + no ads = a book, not a mag! It'll be nice to have something to read while away from the computer (like on a commute). And $10 an issue isn't too bad, it's basically "Newsstand" price. Although this will NOT be available on a newsstand. They said it's subscription only (for now). The BlizzCon swag bag had a mini preview issue and it looked nice. Lots of nice art and lore, and some strats that won't be reprinted online. And the baby murloc, Kwurky, they were offering with it sealed the deal.
$40 is too much for what is a dead medium. Printed works about an online game is an oxymoron. Nothing in a printed work can ever be close to current news due to lead time and distribution. With places like MMO-Champ getting scoops on things as big as the next expansion over a month before it was officially announced, a magazine can never hope to compete with that level of news, and being quarterly means that much more time between news and when they put it in the mag. This is aimed at the die-hard fans that buy anything WoW related, and the casual folks that play without visiting sites like Wowhead and the like. The only way I'd buy it is if they included an in-game item with every year's subscription, like a pet or a mount.I'm sure it will be a quality product, and I'd look through it if it was on a friends coffee table, but it's not something I'd buy in this age of instant information.
I subscribed at Blizzcon so I could get the Kwurky stuffed murloc that came with it. hahaha
Then don't buy it. Problem solved.I have to say I'm quite interested in what would be in there but not forty bucks a year interested. Still, hopefully an article or two will find their way to the internet.Just...this. ^^
I could use something new to read while on the can.^ This.
40 bucks for everything you can find on wowhead for freeNo. There will be a lot of stuff in here that isn't on Wowhead. Artwork? Q/A with developers? Blatant retconning? Fixed. But no, really, it looks interesting, just not enough to warrant 40$ for four 20-page magazines : /Totally didn't read how big they were. If they have zero ads, that actually might not be bad.
So, anyone gotten theirs yet? I'm still waiting for mine. :(
They should sell adds and reduce the price greatly. Not like I can't afford it, but $24 a year sounds more reasonable.
im curious on whats going to be in the magazine. i mean really, 140 pages devoted to just WoW?
So, anyone gotten theirs yet? I'm still waiting for mine. :(Should be getting it sometime this month. They said 8~10 weeks... it's been quite a while now that I've done the math.Purchased Aug 21.Dec 03 now.It has almost been 15 weeks. :(

I read on WOW.com they are looking for a new editor, and they just came out with the first Issie. I was wondering if corporate was that unhappy with the final result or did the editor just move on to greener pastures.
Got mine today. :)
If anyone gets this mag, let us know if its worth the price. I would be interested in it as I read a ton anyways and would enjoy this for boring nights as I am back to not playing the game for the new semester. Its hard to justify that price though. They are absolutely trying to maximize profits from the franchise. Thats obviously an expected business move but it is also a huge turn-off for gamers. I have gotten very tired of how easy the game has become. People are getting new alts to level 80 in less than a week and fully triumph geared with both spec's in under two weeks...thats a fully geared new level 80 in less than three weeks. I remember when it took many, many months if not a year or more.I went off there but at any rate I think the mag could help gamers like me who have started to really get tired of the game or may really be the final straw in alienating us. Let us know what you think when you get the mag. Worth the price? Another way for them to milk us for money while providing minimal content and additions? Or is it worth it?I got mine today and I thought that it was worth the price.
I agree, there is a lot of stuff in here to read. Well worth the price if you're a WoW fan. I told my brother I got it today and he asked to borrow it when I'm done. So there's definitely the interest factor. It was a bit pricey, but it's 144 pages of WoW information. :)

The only minor complaint I have about the magazine is the Silver used to highlight some words/text boxes. It's very shiny and if I'm reading in bed I sometimes get blinded turning the page. :P But I agree, the magazine is very high quality.
