*Ahem* Umm.. The title confused me a little..
Nothing to see there! This is what I get for using... ah, whatever. Fixed now.
whew, that was pretty long. it definetly looks like the hunter class is going to be getting some major changes in the future, and i should probably pull my 19 twink up to 70 or 80 in anticipation of that.all in all a nice little teaser.
Hmm. The prospects of different flavoured arrow/bullets, a long due overhaul of the ui and better melee mechanics is welcomed. They are still keeping alot to their chest per-usual, saving it all for the con.
I play hunter, and i've been waiting forever for this one, but it didn't say much.... basicly all they said was stuff that could mabye happen somewhere far in the future, and we were denied our upgraded ammo yet again. (i do think the fire/poison ammo sounds epic)and as far as the dead zone issue, if we had glyph of aspect of the monkey back, it wouldn't be an issue. (QQ)
A long read but I reallly think that they just don't know what to do. We need real updates, I say if they just let Hunters be the kings again and just leave them along then this should be fine, other classes have teh gold Hunters are just not getting any.
Interesting point about using a different system to mana for Hunters. That has me intrigued indeed!
Bah. I like how they at least realize that for melee all we really have is wing clip followed my disengage, but really? I don't understand why they can't at least lower the cost for ammo. It's not that hard. I could go through 4k arrows a day, easy, from just doing dailies. Throw in raiding and I'm up to 6k arrows for that night.I like how based on what it says, they have ideas for taking us off mana. And the different arrrow/ammo types sound great. They didn't say much on pet survivability except that we'll have to deal with them sucking ass. Seriously. He compared our pets to an Unholy DK. Ummm lulwut? At least our action bars are going to be less cluttered, and the pet bar is going to be reworked (about damn time.)Other then that, nothing to see here. Moving on.
Just more proof that blizzard doesn't know hunters very well.1. We're a physical dps class now? Last I checked, about half our damage is magical...2. Ammo changes? Rep arrows were fine. Having to spend an hour spamming in trade chat to find an engineer just to get some ammo is not fine.3. Haste is completely broken for hunters. It's almost to the point where a heroism won't do anything for hunter DPS. Making haste affect our GCD would be huge.4. Pet bar has been broken since 3.0. Not really big news there. Abilities still randomly turn on and off. Everytime after a wipe, I have to check to make sure that all my abilities are correctly turned on/off.5. The BM buffs still won't be enough. BM needs a unique pet attack or something similar that they can scale. BM also needs pets to auto acquire buffs from the hunter; that way, 1 death of the pet isn't the end of the hunter's DPS.6. Only thing I would want changed about tranq shot is it to have it's cooldown removed. It's the only dispel with a cooldown on it. It can dispel enrages, but so can tranq poison. Is this cooldown in place for some sort of PvP balance?7. Lastly, do we really need more stable slots? I already don't know what to do with the ones I have. Have a PvE raiding pet, a PvP pet, a solo PvE pet, and 2 extra slots. I guess I'm just not a huge collector of vanity things.
Sounds like hunters have a lot of updates ahead of them.
They have already made hunters easy enough as it is. BM doesnt need a buff. Honestly, they have to give marksmanship (which is currently the worst spec to choose as I see it ) the potential to out dps the other specs. However, they should give it more proc buffs so that as a certain buff procs, you change your rotation, Your rotation would change constantly if the buffs were significant. However, constantly changing rotations would make marks one of the harder classes to be. Basically, they should make marks top notch dps for good players (good as in capable of frequently and drastically changing the spells they use).
In my opinion, hunter (as well as all other classes) should be able to use ranged attack of all kinds and move as well.Think this way in real life, is a person shooting bow or gun always standing in one spot, or do they move around to dodge? Also, they say that moving is a penalty. In a way yes. But u shouldn't get penalised for that. It much better to reduce stats by a reasonable amount (such as reducing hit rating by 10 - 20%) while moving and shooting. And maybe even letting stats reduction be influneced by weapon skill or toon lvl (like how u have 1 skill lvl in bow and the dmg can be like 12 and miss like al the time)Also, if ppl can ride a mount and use their spells and abilites, the game would be much more exciting (and more realistic).Just think, ride a chopper and use abilties and spells to do drive-bys and raids XD
I don't see why ranged DPS as casters and hunters can't move. IMO If they're going to move just give them reduced movement speed while they're casting/shooting. Maybe a 70 or 80% decrease in movement speed while casting/shooting. Sure you won't move fast but in that way it makes you decide if you can slowly strafe away or stop attacking and run to avoid whatever. I'd rather have that than a reduction in my DPS.That and/or maybe it slows down your shooting/casting speed. A 1.5 second cast would now become 2 seconds. Something along those lines. The only problem i see is probably spell canceling.
Ok, I'm gonna cherrypick and troll a little for fun..."We want to make sure their PvE utility is as good as their dps (especially making traps live up to their potential for crowd control)." - I still know how to trap, it's the lack of CC that limits utility."We don’t want to drop ammo on bosses for what I hope are obvious reasons so long as they are consumed." - Easy, drop BoP ammo from mechanical mobs or whatever, in whatever size works. Give it a low sell price so it's not really worth anything except shooting. Make it Unique, or amount limited to prevent hording. Limited stacks act just like a potion, when it's gone, you replace it with something else."You can argue it’s goofy to be firing bows or rifles at point-blank range, but really it gets more into how we want the hunter (and all ranged weapon attacks) to work." - Dude, Legolas pwned at close range, and a gun's a gun, regardless of range. I think it's a little more silly to hit a mob with a Fireball from pointblank range..."We don’t want ranged attackers constantly circle strafing FPS-style because it confers a defensive advantage without giving up an offensive one." - Why not, moving =/= invincible. Mines, bad spots, chain lighting, KT frost bombs, Gravity bombs, light bombs, healing ranges. A dumb hunter is gonna wipe the raid running around all crazy or at least kill himself when he can't get heals."What I mean by that is we think we’ve possibly already gone too far towards balancing the Arena around instant attacks that can’t be countered before they go off." - Nerf?"Gear is supposed to be a choice. I’ll say again that I think the online community sometimes focuses too much on the best-in-slot mentality, to the extent at which they consider everything except those BiS items to be worth skipping over. Remember, if it improves your dps, it’s an upgrade, even if another item would improve it more. That sounds so obvious, but I think there is a tendency for some players to stop thinking that way." - What is this "choice" word you refer to? We've downed 6 bosses in UD this week and out of 18+ pieces of gear, not one was dps mail, or a weapon. If a piece drops and it's better, I'm rolling on it."They are frustrating for other players in a PvP setting when Bladestorm or Arcane Explosion can’t really hurt pets," - Nerf?"...and we’ve even taken a second look at whether we have removed too many defensive abilities from the GCD" - Nerf?I know it does nothing, but sometimes negativity is fun.
