The sigs aren't propaganda, though they may look it. We will work to ensure that this website remains as accessible as it is and can be feature-wise, while giving premium members the little perks that say "thank you". Have some faith, have some trust, that Wowhead won't go the way of the dodo bird (by our part, at least!). Malgayne, and the rest of us, realize it's the people of Wowhead that drive the site; it's our job to steer it every once in a while. Make a turn here, a turn there, come around the bend a little slower than normal. We don't plan on driving off the cliff.
This site has ads?
We should start an Adblockers Anonymous support group. We could meet on Thursday evenings, and drink tea and eat cake.
Hi, my name is wink and I use too many different computers and browsers to avoid ads.
Wowhead. I gotta say that I am extremly thankful that the upgrade is not Mandatory. Personally I would eventually say the heck with it and pay because I love Wowhead more than Thottbot and any others. But I personally wanna say thank you Wowhead for making the upgrade optional.
We get just as much money out of Wowhead as you do. In fact, probably less, since the unpaid time we spend here could probably be spent somewhere else... for a payment. Now, did you go back through the pages and find my explanations, or are you just speaking with neither reason, nor proof, nor evidence?
This IS the beginning of the end of wowhead. Greed is awesome.
Drop it. I feel like people are making accounts just to annoy the Staff now. Whoever wanted to see the point in this, would have by now - either by reasoning it out, or by simply reading the Moderators' and Administrators' comments. The rest simply won't care.
Argent I must say I cant believe how long you have been putting up with some of this crap, you should put in big letters before people read anything about premium that says *Read entire thread before posting, or we will throw down the hammer*Of course then I need to throw down a hebrew hammer joke :D
Glad to be a supporter I am... Glad indeed.
Looks like the beginning of the end....it starts with the separation of the "haves" and "have nots"....at least we will still have Wowiki when the free content here goes to pasture.
I am sorry, but new users whose only post is "We're gonna die!", in this thread... No, I don't think you can adequately judge the direction this website is going. You don't have enough exposure or experience with it.
Thanks for a great site. Happy to be a member.
Gotta admit, if I were an Admin, I'd lock the thread about now - with the final post including a nice re-confirmation of WoWHeads intent not to charge for content. Because this is literally going nowhere!
As a long term lurker, I do have my concerns but I'm sure the owners of wowhead realise that major changes will just make the userbase move elsewhere. As had happened in the past, it's not like there isn't other alternatives (all be it not as inntuative yet), but isn't that what happened for wowhead to go into the database business?I'm just glad for the moment all the changes mostly relate to the forum community which I can't fault them for doing, it's not like other popular communities don't charge (even just to access them) Somethingawful for instance.
