I hope they add something with Blacksmithing somewhere down the line, getting a little boring with the lack of recipies, and could really use something to spice it up. Like in BC with all the world drops from common mobs, and perhaps those special BoP Weaponsmith/Armorsmith items. =]/agree i'm an armorsmith myself.so much work for these specializations and... nothing. /sigh
Being a blacksmith and bored out of my skull since a month after Wrath launched; I am saddened by the lack of Blacksmith love. I want new recipes. The only thing worth making as a raiding 80 is a Titansteel Destroyer which is rapidly losing its worth due to Ulduar and the Tournament. Yes, I can socket gloves/bracers and I love that, but I feel like we're missing out on things that are useful to our raid guild at 80 aside from making a belt buckle :(
... I like how a buff to JC is actually a BS buff, so JC needs another buff ontop. Don't worry other professions, your stuff is free! (For the most part) But because this is such a big BLACKSMITHING buff, they're not getting anything except the chance to shell out thousands for epic gems half as good as the BoPs.Bitter? ME? Never. Altough a reason to ever use my titansteel cooldown after I've made and replaced the end teir items would be nice. And yes, I'm blowing things out of scope.
Wait: still no specialization additions?Armorsmiths are STILL the only ones that can make anything for Northrend item levels, and even then only reach a lvl 78 blue. Weaponsmiths have nothing. We're on the the brink of the 2nd major patch to the expansion, supposedly adding a great deal of new goodies. Will profession-focused folk get their day of uniqueness?
I know some alchemists were showing concern about possibly getting nerfed. My main is an alchemist and personally I found the changes welcomed. That being said, all of Blizz's changes are not mentioned above ^ ^Alchemists are also getting Xmutes for 5 epic gems, as well as a quest for some gem I've never heard of (I looked it up, a Cardinal Ruby is a super awesome base red gem)Much better to tip a JC to cut a gem than to throw 10000g to the drooling JCs on the AH.
I know alot of you want the buffs to your professions with your BoP items / enchants, but keep in mind that WotLK has been out for a fairly short amount of time. They will add them in eventually, but this expansion is relatively new. Also, they may have not mentioned it, but I'd bet on some pattern/recipe drops in the new argent tournament. They have said that there will be a 5 / 10 / 25 instance with normal and heroic lockouts, meaning there are 6 new instances basically for them to throw in loot, which could be your item recipe. Not to mention they've really picked up on adding in a "hard mode" for the bosses which will add in even more opportunities for recipes / patterns to improve your professions.
/agree with whomever recommended level 80 Blacksmithing only patterns. With the breakdown from specialized Weaponsmithing (Axe, Hammer & Sword) into a generic category, I'd like to see Weaponsmiths be able to forge blacksmithing only level 80 epics of each weapon class/subclass, that require 450 to wield and weaponsmithing.IE: A Caster dagger better than titansteel spellblade (T8/8.5 level) A polearm useable for Feral Druids / Hunters 1 handed and two handed variants of swords, hammers and axes for DPS, Tank AND casters (I realize the axes wouldn't do anything for casters so no need, but...) These items would also be t8/8.5 level and offer stat bonuses with either hit or crit rating and would have pvp varieties as well as raiding varieties for each subtype/subclass.Armorsmiths of course, would get DPS/Caster mail pieces comparable to Leatherworking gear that would be armorsmithing only but unique from the Leatherworking variants, one set with DPS/Caster raid stats, the other comparable to PVP gear with epic level resilience comparable to maybe a deadly gladiator piece, heck perhaps even go a step further and allow Armorsmiths to forge entire Epic quality sets for PVP and PVE Armorsmithing only.Plate options for DPS, Casters, Tanks, AND PVP would be needed as well of course for plate wearers. As far as Engineering upgrades, I'd recommend a higher quality Engineering only Upgraded variant of the Nesingwary 4000, that would/could be the Nesingwary 5000 Hunting Longrifle. This of course would require the previous item similar to the BC blacksmithing gear, and would be t8/8.5 quality ranged weapon with a unique engineering only perk to it, (Perhaps an extra socket, or allowing a SECOND scope be attached to it, etc). Also while we are on this subject allow Engineering to be able to craft Crossbows and Bows of the same quality, and allow for an engineering only upgraded version. Also, I'd like to see epic quality scopes..... Armor Penetration..... A new hit scope..... Crit Scope..... DPS upping scope perhaps? Limit of one per gun / regardless of type (were they to allow the eng only ones to have 2)....For JC I think they're already on the right track with prospectable titanium ore....For Inscriptionists, I'd recommend not only a bonus to glyph mastery (IE higher percentage/bonus from glyphs) but to make sellable scrolls and or RUNES (scribes do scribe runes as well as glyphs) of things such as recall to a specific location (which would require a mage casting their portal on it or something), or perhaps unique Runes, comparable to enchants which would proc Rune only effects similar to our shoulder slot inscriptions, usable by the scribe only (*shrug*)LWers yeah I can see a Wyrmscale leg armor being a good idea, for a LW only leg patch to go with the already OP bracer/glove patches.... but still it would be nice. Also an upgraded Frostwyrm / scale epic t8. 8.5 armor set PVP and PVE versions based on how they specced their leatherworking (Dragonscale, Tribal, or Elemental)....For alchemists, baneful potions, that could be thrown at an enemy to reduce resistances, stats, mana, cause intoxication etc.... (Just an idea)For Miners, I'd recommend the ability to smelt old world ores, and BC ores with Northrend ores (and gems, etc) in order to make VERY powerful types of bars which would be required for the Armorsmithing and Weaponsmithing patterns, as well as a few recipe farmed BoP only patterns to make sellable pre-req items for possible legendaries....IE: Dark Iron + Thorium + Titanium + 40 Icecap + 20 Wintersbite + 10 Primal Waters + 10 Primal Airs + 20 Eternal Waters + 20 Eternal Airs = 1 Frozen Dark Titansteel Bar (Epic Bar) with a total of perhaps 8 - 20 required plus a few Eternal Mights as a pre-req for an epic for a legendary piece?Just some ideas to continue to breathe life into the vanilla....Oh and while we're at it lets make Shendralar worth something as well as those old factions....Ashbringer + Scale of Nelfarian, Uldum, or a Modern Hyjal pre- ICC prerequisite raid anyone?
Started farming EoH a couple of days ago. I'm in no real hurry as this patch is probably a good few months away, so I expect to have a LOT of emblems ready by the time this hits. Anywhere around 300 should be enough to both get me a BoA or two and some gold.I'm also going to stop putting titanium/titansteel up on the AH. I don't need the short-term gold, and I'm confident I'll make quite a bit more when patch hits.
