I got it after I thought about that whole it being a donation thing. Wowhead's been a beacon of ligh in too many situations to even count, so I don't feel like it's been a waste at all.
i dont really like it either because why should i pay for no ad's and all the other stuff when all im doing on wowhead is where to find monsters, quests, achievements and all the other stuff? dont really get it but that's just my opinion
Hah! Ive been coming here for years and by reading this, I just realized WoWHead has forums!
All I need now is being able to fit a pic in my sig.
Ads, Captcha? OMG - ask for donations first, Wowhead.. don't pull this crap on us... first it will be on a voluntary basis, next it'll be limited and limited even more until it becomes mandatory to even use the site.Simple solutions for ads.... Google: "Hosts File"
I know this is all for expenses, but really, what's the point? We can now pay to save a few minutes? Can you spell bad idea? $30-40 a year to save a few minutes a month seems too much to ask for. Spending $10 a year for such minor features would even be a stretch for me. Don't bother paying for this unless you wish to support Wowhead. We all like the site, but if it becomes manditory to pay to use the database and features, I am leaving.
The key points of the premium service is you get premium access to ZAM, Allakhazam and Wowinterface
Oooh skyfire I beat you to the punch :Psort of...
Hehe I bet all the moderators out there saw these replies coming. Who would like their favorite database becoming a pay-site? Well, maybe I should have read this a little more closely...
We saw them coming, but that didn't lessen our disappointment. Wowhead is not becoming a paysite, the non-Premium members are not getting "gimped"... yet many (if not the majority) of the comments were about either one of those. The Premium is not there to make you a "better" user, nor is it to create a special class of users... its goal is to be our little upgraded "Thank you!" for the support you've given us, not only with your "subscription" (although I hate that word), but throughout the years as well. Yet an awful lot of replies were along the lines of "It's not worth it" (when asked to help one of your friends, please tell them "Your thanks are not worth it"...), "You are going on a slippery slope" (to which Malgayne already replied), and predictions how we will start taking from the regular users and give to the Premiums. We foresaw all that, but it didn't help us deal with it :(
Oh, come, tomorrow we will announce that Wowhead will load 3 times faster, and some user will decide that such thing is absolutely degrading for the website, that we are selling ourselves, and whatnot... Everything we (and by "we" I mean "anyone") implement is going to find its haters.
