Children's Week 2016 Guide (May 2 - May 9)
2016/05/02 at 1:14 PM
is a week in which we brave a challenge greater than any undead monstrosity and a task more daunting than saving the world. We must become parents for all those orphans throughout Azeroth and make sure they are happy. We can't tank a child's fears, we can't heal its memories of pain, nor can we DPS the sorrow out of them. So equip your toys, make a mage conjure a candy table, fill your quiver with joy, load your gun with something colorful, and venture into the World of Parenting!
and ends on
Due to the advent of Cataclysm,
was changed in 2011 to have two new pets and redone locations for the initial tier of quests. In 2015,
is a toy that counts towards your Toy Box. In 2016,
also counts towards your Toy Box.
If you already have all the pets, be sure to pick up
Pet Care Package
--the reward for repeating the holiday, even if you can't get any pets!
Pet Care Package
is new to 2015 and contains a variety of items including pug costumes like
Big Pink Bow
Magical Pet Biscuit
. This is an alternative reward from the orphan quests and great if you already have the pets!

Whispers of the Old Gods
is Hearthstone’s latest expansion, going live today, April 26th. As the expansion is a playful interpretation of Old Gods lore from Warcraft, we thought it would be fun to highlight how the cards are related to WoW.

Blizzard's Response on Nostalrius and Legacy Servers
2016/04/26 at 9:25 AM
Blizzard has posted a long reply about the Nostalrius discussion and legacy servers.
Nostalrius had to be shut down because failure to protect intellectual property infringement would hurt Blizzard's rights. They have looked into granting an operating license to a pirate server but there isn't a clear legal path.
Blizzard has looked into developing classic servers and it would be incredibly difficult to set up, as well as maintain multiple live versions of WoW.
One possible solution to capture the nostalgia is a "pristine realm" to remove all forms of leveling assistance including heirloom gear and character transfers. However, this wouldn't replicate the pre-Cataclysm experience; it woud be with the current world.
Blizzard has been in contact with some of the Nostalrius staff, and look forward to more in the future.
