, we have some smaller patch additions covering stabled pets, cosmetic armor, and new bosses in the Brawler's Guild!

Battlefield Barrens: Zone Changes and Acquiring Kor'kron Items
2013/03/26 at 5:53 PM
Patch 5.3 introduces a new world event, Battlefield Barrens, that explores the conflict between the Alliance, Horde, and Garrosh. There's a ton of stuff to do and collect as part of this event--but it's only around for a limited amount of time.
To unlock this world event, which takes place in Durotar and Northern Barrens, you'll need to do several
new scenarios and a quest chain showing the underlying politics behind your faction
Once the world event is unlocked, you can collect

Hearthstone Interview and PAX Demo Gameplay
2013/03/26 at 10:20 AM
Over the weekend, I interviewed Hamilton Chu, Executive Producer, and Ben Brode, Game Designer, about Blizzard's newest game, Hearthstone, which was just revealed at PAX East! I also got to try out a few rounds of this fast-paced lighthearted demo as my favorite classes--Rogue and Warlock.
We've also covered the artwork, videos, and the Official Press Release and Gameplay FAQ from Blizzard in
. Also check out
for more fansite interviews and resources.
Hearthstone is designed to be an accessible and fast-paced online strategy card game using popular figures from World of Warcraft:
: There are nine classes total. All WoW classes are represented except for Death Knights and Monks. Each class has a unique low-cost ability that's meant to be an option if you get unlucky with card draws. For example, Warlocks can draw a card at the cost of life, while Rogues can summ
PvP Gear in Patch 5.3
2013/03/25 at 8:04 PM
Blizzard just posted a highly-anticipated blog on PvP in Patch 5.3. There are several controversial changes:
The biggest change is that all gear in all Battlegrounds and Arenas will be scaled down to ilvl 496, which is the level of Season 13 Conquest Gear.
Resilience will also be removed from all gear, although it will remain on gems and enchantments--to compensate for this, all level 85+ players will have 65% base resilience. PvP Power will remain on all gear.
Since gear above ilvl 496 will be scaled down, Elite items will be primarily cosmetic rewards instead of powerful PvP armor.
Battle Fatigue will increase to make PvP gear superior for healers.
Other changed described during 5.2's PTR are still in place, namely that the 7,250
requirement for weapons will be waived in 5.3, and a catch-up mechanism will be implemented so newer players can earn more points per week. If you've gotten over 25,000
, you can also purchase Tyrannical gear for Honor.
As for the ilvl 496 scaling--many players felt that having multiple tiers of PvP gear in 5.2 led to an uneven playing field. Item Upgrades were removed from PvP gear for this reason, and keeping overpowered ilvl

Item Upgrades in Patch 5.3, Oondasta's Health Reduced by 50%
2013/03/22 at 1:27 PM
Blizzard posted a huge blog on item upgrades today, in the midst of revealing their new game,
at PAX East.
Here's what you need to know about item upgrades returning:
They'll be returning in Patch 5.3 at a reduced cost for PvE gear.
is needed to upgrade an item by 4 levels, instead of 0
as in Patch 5.1.
5.2 Justice items now require 750 Justice to upgrade per 8 item levels, for a total of 750 Justice for 8 item levels per item.
Season 12 PvP items can be upgraded, but no other PvP items for the foreseeable future. Many PvPers did not like the concept of upgrades, and there were some imbalance issues going from ilvl 483 Honor gear that was upgraded to ilvl 491 in 5.1, to ilvl 476 un-upgradeable Honor gear in 5.2.
There was also a post today stating that
's health was reduced by 50%--should be a bit more killable now.

Blizzard at PAX East: New Project Announcement, D3 Console Demo
2013/03/21 at 10:50 AM
Blizzard's Announcement at PAX East
Blizzard is announcing something new at PAX East this Friday, and we'll be there to cover the announcement live!
The invitation Wowhead received specifically referred to a "new Blizzard project" and described it in the following way: "We've been working on a little something, different from our other games...It’s not a sequel, expansion, or that rumored next-gen MMO, but it’s something we’re excited for you to get your hands on."
We already knew that they'd be
demoing the console version of Diablo III at PAX East
, so we're very curious what this announcement could be. Chief Creative Officer Rob Pardo confirmed on Twitter that
it's not Titan
If you'll be at PAX East, the presentation will be in the Naga Theatre at 10:00 am, March 22nd.
will also be streaming the panel live.

News Roundup: Increased Spawn Rate for Oondasta, Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger Nerfed
2013/03/20 at 12:18 PM
Today's roundup covers an increased spawn rate for
, some clarifications on PvP gear, and interesting discussions on dailies in Patch 5.2 and
Shan'ze Ritual Stone
Several users have already reported this on
's page, but everyone's favorite dinosaur now more frequently respawns. If you haven't tried
yet, he's located on the
Isle of Giants
and drops ilvl 522 loot with dinosaur-themed names.
Agreed, this is an amazing fight of epic proportions and really tiny arms. We definitely want players to have more chances to experience it. The epicness should be about fighting it, not about finding when it spawns, even though that can also be somewhat fun as long as the timer is not so long that it gets frustrating.
You should be able to find Mr. “Tiny Hands”
a bit more often now.
Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger
As covered in the
hotfixes from last night
Ra'sha's Sacrificial Dagger
is now on a 30 minute cooldown instead of a 5 minute cooldown.
