4.0.1: New Flexible Raid Lockout System
posted
2010/10/01 at 11:36 AM
by
fewyn
A while ago, Blizzard announced that they would be changing the way raid lockouts work so players would no longer be required to raid the same content multiple times a week to increase progression. After a long wait,
Bashiok
has announced the new
Flexible Raid Lockout System
that will be introduced with 4.0.1. At launch, it will only be available for
Icecrown Citadel
and
The Ruby Sanctum
In these dungeons, you will only have to kill each boss once on any difficulty level to count toward a completion of the instance. For example, you could kill the first 3 bosses in Icecrown one night on 10-player and then the next night get 25 people together and kill
Deathbringer Saurfang
and the rest of the bosses. To help coordinate what bosses you have killed there will be a new UI element that shows you what encounters you have already defeated along with a way for raid leaders to link in chat what they have defeated.
You can check out the full announcement and some more examples by Bashiok after the break.

Nethaera
posted a rather big announcement that will hopefully please a lot of people who didn't like Real ID when it launched. Blizzard has introduced
new privacy options
to Battle.Net, including the option to opt-in or opt-out of the controversial "Friends of Friends" feature and the "Add Facebook Friends".
We'd like to make you aware of the new Real ID-related privacy options we've introduced to Battle.net. These options provide Real ID users with additional tools for customizing the service based on their preferences, enabling the ability to opt in or out of the Real ID "Friends of Friends" and "Add Facebook Friends" features or to turn off Real ID altogether.
Real ID offers an optional, convenient way for keeping in touch with real-world friends you know and trust, whether they're playing World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, or one of our future games. The "Friends of Friends" and "Add Facebook Friends" features provide you with even more options to stay connected while you play by making it easier for real-life friends to locate each other on Battle.net. You can easily enable or

We have a
new build
for the beta servers, as of right now the servers haven't gone down for maintenance nor is this one actually downloadable through the client. But that doesn't mean we don't have some juicy new Maps and Icons for you! In the map area we have a few updated maps mostly with a few minor changes to the art and there is one new map this time of , which I assume is the over-world area version of AQ40.
A large amount of new icons were added in this build - everything from new icons for , Darkmoon Faire Cards, and even brand new icons for all the new currencies.
Just a quick note for everyone looking for an updated talent calculator and data for the rest of the site we should have all that updated later today, so stay tuned!
You can check out all the maps and icons after the break!

Blizzard Developers will be on the beta realms on Monday September 27th at 4PM PST to test . You will need to be level 85 to join the battle and the timers between battles will be sped up so several games can be played during this testing period.
We are planning to do a focused playtest on Tol Barad on Monday the 27th at 4pm PST. We would like to get as many players out there on the beta to help us as possible. You must be level 85 to join the battle. We will speed up the game timer so we can play multiple games during the test.
I will make a new feedback post after we finish the test for everyone to post in. Feedback is very important for us at this point so please take your time and try to be as concise as possible with your findings.
Thanks for the help!

Blizzard has announced a new feature part of their Battle.net website -
Account Recovery Form
. This new form will hopefully expedite your recovery process after being hacked by asking you some questions that only you may know the answers to and then proceeds to automatically attempt to recover your account! This new process will also issue you a password reset via email, and automatically enter a GM ticket for you. You won't see this ticket visibly in-game, but you will receive an email with the ticket number and any other information.
You can check out the new form on the Battle.net Website and you can read the original announcement after the break!
