Let Me Wowhead That For You
2010/03/23 at 6:41 PM
There was a
that went around a little while ago where someone mentioned a website called
, that internet users can take advantage of to passive-aggressively help their friends find the answers to their questions.
asked the following central question:
Can we as a community, instead of flaming others, try better to teach them to use the database, and instruct on how to use filters instead of doing it for them?
This is a critically important part of the Wowhead forum community, and a question I encourage each of you to ask yourself. But somewhere in that thread, a user named
got a funny idea—and a funny domain name.
In turn, I wish to present to you:
Let Me Wowhead That For You.
Enjoy passive-aggressively helping your friends. :)

The Rawrcast itself is pretty epic (a good 2 hours long!), but worth it—especially if you've been following them up until now! You can listen to the whole episode here:
We're about 40 minutes in. If you have a short attention span, though, you can also listen to just the interview here:

Also, incidentally, there is a mention of an upcoming movie project in this interview called "The Raid". If you're interested in the post we wrote about it, you can find that one
Using the Power of Wowhead: Wish Lists
2010/03/20 at 7:00 PM
Hey all! Neutronimity here, your friendly neighborhood German translator! Some of you may remember that I am
a blogger, from back in the
days. Seeing as how I'm STILL a blogger, I figured it was time I earned the title!
I know some people are still a bit unfamiliar with using the database, so I decided to write a series of posts to illustrate a few examples of how you can utilize Wowhead to its fullest potential. I hope to be be covering most of the site's tools and taking advantage of their detailed guides. What you'll be reading is a collection of example tasks, using Wowhead, which should inspire you to come up with a similar methods of fulfilling your goals—whatever they may be.
Curious? Read on after the break!
PS: I would like to thank

So a little while back, right around the release of
, some of you may remember a little tribute that Blizzard implemented to our
and fearless leader: one
in Shattrath City.
You may remember him for his amusingly relevant quote,
"Here I have amassed what may well be the greatest depository of lore in all of Outland. Even the grand libraries of Silvermoon City pale in comparison. Please... look, read, browse to your heart's content. You'll find everything organized and clearly labeled."
Well as we all know, Skosiris

New Features: Contact Tool and Heirloom Slider
2010/02/22 at 8:14 PM
Wowhead has implemented a few tasty new features!
First, we've created a whole new architecture to let users contact us. You can now use the
link found at the top of the page to contact us using the nifty lightbox pictured at the right. We've also upgraded the interface used to report comments, forum posts, screenshots, and
data, so use those report buttons!
It's also worth mentioning that the tool works even while you aren't logged in, so now you guys have no excuse not to use it!
In addition, we've also added a
to all of our
item pages — which you can drag to see the stats change as your level does.
Could it be any more convenient?
Go give them a try and let us know what you think!
Some Private Profiles Reset
2010/02/17 at 4:05 PM
If you were one of the users who was concerned about profile privacy issues, please go to your user page and double-check your private character status!
We made an internal fix and unfortunately we had to wipe part of the data which determined which profiles were private and which were not.
All good now, but unfortunately you MAY have to
your profiles as private. Just use the "User Page" link in the top right to go to your list of characters and profiles, select the checkbox, and click "Make Private".
