New Site Features: Customize the Front Page Sidebar, Item Upgrades, Video Submissions, Asian Realms
2015/05/07 at 2:41 PM
Today we're taking a break from 6.2 coverage to highlight some of the recent new site features the Wowhead team has launched! We highlighted our
transmog set revamp with images for all races
a few weeks ago, and today we have improvements for item recommendations and stat weights, video submissions, and Asian realm support for the Profiler.
Patron users can also customize the front-page sidebar--you can move Today in Draenor up to the top of the page now!
New Site Feature: Transmog Set Images for All Races, Comment to Win a Grinning Reaver Mount
2015/04/23 at 10:40 AM
transmog set database
is one of the most popular parts of the site, and we gave it an epic new look!
You can now select what race and gender you want to browse the transmog set images in. Just select your race/gender combination above the gallery on the right-hand side and all sets in the gallery and their tooltips will change appearances. The images now use the updated Warlords models as well.
In addition, you can change the image on a particular set's page by using the menu in Quick Facts.
The default model will be set to your modelviewer preferences under Settings if logged in, and the transmog set pages will remember your previous preferences if you changed the gender/race via the menu.
The transmog set database is a unique part of Wowhead. The sets, which are put together by the staff, group together all matching items in the game. You can also filter the sets by class, tier, armor type, styles and more to narrow down the results.

New Profiler Feature: Pin Your Character, Get Gear Recommendations on Database Pages
2015/03/22 at 12:55 PM
We love showing personalized information on database pages that's powered via the
, and we've expanded this to cover gear recommendations!
pin a Battle.net character
, you'll see a special "Upgrade for" section in Quick Facts when visiting any gear page. This lists the name of the character for whom it is an upgrade and clicking on it takes you to their Profile page. For raid items, which have multiple difficulties on each page, the recommendations specify what difficulty is an upgrade.
This is currently a simple comparison--it does not take into account item variations or recommend trinkets--but we have some more refinements coming to items soon. We're excited about using our Pin feature in a new way!
Check out our
page for a look at other cool stuff we've been doing.

New Site Feature: Track Your Toy Box with Wowhead's Profiler
2015/01/13 at 4:14 PM
We've expanded our
to track even more in-game collections!
Users can now track their
collection on Wowhead
--browse what you still need to collect, filter by source, and see completion tracking info when viewing search results and item pages.
To get set up, you will need to verify your character. This is a one-time process.
Log in to Wowhead
View your character
in the Profiler
Click on the Verify option on the header and follow the instructions. If you
log in via Battle.net
, this step will happen automatically.
Download and install the
From here, whenever you want to update your Toy Box data on Wowhead, do the following:
Log in to your character in-game (with the Wowhead Looter addon running). You don't need to open any tabs or perform any actions--just go in game!
Exit WoW, and use the Wowhead Client to submit your data to Wowhead
Hit "Update" on your Character Profile to see the latest information.
Note: We are investigating an issue where you may need to repeat this series of steps in order to have the Toy Box information appear. If you do not see toys on Wowhead, try repeating these steps.
Once that is done, Toy Box information will appear on your character's Profile. To return to this page, head to the "My Profiles" section of your user menu dropdown at the top right of any Wowhead page.
Your Profile will have a new "Toys" tab which displays all of your toys, broken down by source so you can easily decide which to collect. If you click the "Filter" option on the Profiler's header, you can hide different types of toys you don't want to collect--those from the opposite faction, requiring a profession, currently-unobtainable toys, and more.
Finally, if you click the "Pin" option on your Profiler's header, your Toy Box information is displayed when you browse toys across Wowhead. Quick Facts on Toy pages, search results with toys, and tooltips will have a checkbox showing completion for your character, so you can always keep track of what you do and don't have collected.

Follower Database Improvements: See All Potential Abilities for Followers, More Ability Filters
2015/01/05 at 12:41 PM
databases have received some improvements to better help you pick followers!
Follower pages now display all the potential abilities they can get, instead of just their default abilities. This should take some of the guesswork out of upgrading followers--the abilities aren't totally random.
Random abilities are now included (with default abilities) in the abilities listview at the bottom of the page.
Default abilities now show up in the follower tooltip at the top of the page.
This will help you plan out what followers to level, what threats they can potentially counter, what counters you should filter for at the Inn if you want a specific follower, and which is worth using
Follower Retraining Certificate
A follower's potential pool of abilities is determined by their class and spec. This includes Inn followers, of which many do not have any default abilities. Using rogues as an example:
All Rogues can potentially have

To browse our followers database, head to
or Database > Garrisons > Followers via the navigation menu.
We've added more filters and details to garrison ability pages:

: Some abilities can be preset on a follower, but are not randomly chosen via
Follower Retraining Certificate
or quality upgrades.

: These abilities cannot be lost when rerolling abilities with

Wowhead's 2014 Year in Review
It's hard to believe that for most of 2014, we were all farming Siege of Orgrimmar instead of building our garrisons and exploring Draenor. However, even when things seemed routine in game, the Wowhead staff stayed busy with new features, fixes, and guides. While we won't bore you with all the bug fixes and custom data tweaks, here's a list of the site's most interesting new features, guides, and contests in the past year! You can check out the
section for a more detailed list of additions.
