Cross Realm Raids in 4.3.2
2012/01/06 at 8:49 PM
We previously introduced the ability to form cross-realm parties with Real ID friends, and now with Patch 4.3.2, we're adding the ability for players to use that same functionality to form raids to run older normal or heroic raids, or participate in Battlegrounds!
This will allow you to join up with your Real ID friends from other realms and:
Form a cross-realm raid and use Raid Finder
Jump in to any classic dungeon or raid and be automatically placed in the same instance
Join forces and dominate the Battlegrounds
Please note, you will not yet be able to run normal or Heroic Dragon Soul with cross-realm Real ID raids.
As we look forward to the BattleTag system, it’s a very exciting time for World of Warcraft. No matter what realm you and your friends are on you’ll be able to team up and take on group content throughout the game.
Battle.Net BattleTags and Blizzard Support Site Redesign
2011/12/15 at 3:47 PM
It's been a slow news day, but two items cropped on my list.
First of all, it looks like Real ID is getting some real company--Battle.net BattleTags! These will function just like Real ID has, only with a nickname instead of your real life monicker. This will allow players have cross game (and server!) communication without having to shout from the hilltops their real life name. It's coming first to Diablo III, but it will also be coming to StarCraft II and World of Warcraft.
The second news item was that the customer service support website got some new digs to provide players with a better experience and more satisfaction.
Battle.net BattleTag FAQ
What is a Battle.net BattleTag?
A BattleTag is a unified, player-chosen nickname that will identify you across all of Battle.net – in Blizzard Entertainment games, on our websites, and in our community forums. Similar to Real ID, BattleTags will give players on Battle.net a new way to find and chat with friends they've met in-game, form friendships, form groups, and stay connected across multiple Blizzard Entertainment games. BattleTags will also
Real ID Party System No Longer Going Premium
2011/08/16 at 10:36 AM
Blizzard announced that their Real ID cross realm party system is now out of beta testing. Apparently it's here to stay as a free service rather than the initially speculated premium one--good news to those of us who made frequent use of this service. Of course, this shouldn't come as any surprise given both its popularity as a service and the negativity it was met with when it was announced as potentially premium only.
We’re happy to announce that the testing period for World of Warcraft's new Real ID Party system is now complete, and the feature is now officially live! We received a lot of great feedback from the community throughout the course of our testing, and we appreciate everyone taking the time to share their thoughts and experiences with us.
For those who haven't yet had a chance to try it out, the Real ID Party system allows players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a 5-player normal or Heroic dungeon, regardless of what realm their friends are on. This new feature makes it easier than ever for real-life friends to play together, and it's available to all World of Warcraft players at no additional charge -- all
News Round Up: Cross Server Real ID Grouping, Valor Point Acquisition, and More
2011/07/14 at 2:19 PM
A little while ago Blizzard mentioned that they had a new Real ID feature in development--one that would allow Real ID friends to form parties across multiple realms, so that friends can run dungeons together, even if they are not on the same server.
Well, this feature is now somewhat done and available to be tested for free. Blizzard also mentioned that this will be one of the premium features of the Real ID service, so it might become paid in the future.
When delving into the depths of Azeroth's darkest dungeons, it always helps to have some friends at your side... now you're able to issue a call to arms no matter what realm they play on. We're pleased to announce the new Real ID Party feature is now available for testing! This new feature will allow World of Warcraft players to invite their real-life

of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.
